# Database Mocking Fix - Executive Summary

## ✅ Issue Resolved

**Problem**: `TypeError: this.database.initialize is not a function`

## Root Cause

**The Problem**: Returning a plain object from `jest.fn().mockImplementation()` doesn't properly bind instance methods. When the code calls `this.database.initialize()`, the `this` context inside the mocked method is incorrect.

**The Solution**: Use a proper mock class where methods are defined as class properties (arrow functions). This ensures methods are properly bound to each instance.
