Date: 2025-10-23 Status: ✅ PHASE 1 & 2 COMPLETE (20/23 fixes = 87%) Build Status: ✅ PASSING (0 errors)

🎉 COMPLETED FIXES (20/23 = 87%)

Phase 1: Critical & High Priority ✅ COMPLETE

✅ Alert #22 (CRITICAL) - Improper Code Sanitization

File: src/reasoning/TestTemplateCreator.ts Status: FIXED

Solution:

  • Created src/utils/SecureValidation.ts (328 lines) - Safe validator factory
  • Updated src/types/pattern.types.ts - New ValidationConfig interface
  • Replaced eval() with type-safe validation functions
  • Removed all dynamic code execution

Verification: Build passing ✓

✅ Alert #21 (HIGH) - Prototype Pollution

File: src/cli/commands/config/set.ts:124 Status: FIXED

Solution:

  • Added guards for __proto__, constructor, prototype keys
  • Replaced direct property assignment with Object.defineProperty()
  • Added hasOwnProperty checks
  • Used Object.create(null) for intermediate objects

Verification: Build passing ✓

Phase 2: Insecure Randomness ✅ COMPLETE (100+ instances fixed!)

✅ Alerts #1-13+ (MEDIUM) - Insecure Randomness

Files: 72 files across entire codebase Status: FIXED

Solution:

  • Created src/utils/SecureRandom.ts (244 lines) - Crypto-based secure random
  • Automated script replaced ALL Math.random() instances:
    • Math.random() → SecureRandom.randomFloat()
    • Math.random() * N → SecureRandom.randomFloat() * N or SecureRandom.randomInt(min, max)
    • Math.random().toString(36).substr(2, N) → SecureRandom.generateId(N/2)
    • Math.floor(Math.random() * N) → SecureRandom.randomInt(0, N)

Files Modified: 72 files

  • 48 files with automated replacements
  • 24 files with manual import fixes
  • 0 Math.random() calls remaining ✓

Key Files:

  • All agents: BaseAgent, TestGeneratorAgent, TestExecutorAgent, CoverageAnalyzerAgent, QualityAnalyzerAgent, etc.
  • All MCP handlers: quality-analyze, fleet-status, test-execute, predict-defects, task-orchestrate
  • All streaming handlers: TestExecuteStreamHandler, CoverageAnalyzeStreamHandler
  • All CLI commands: agent/spawn, monitor/alerts, test/queue, workflow/cancel
  • Core modules: SwarmMemoryManager, AgentDBManager, ReasoningBankAdapter, NeuralTrainer

Verification:

  • Grep check: 0 Math.random() instances found ✓
  • Build status: PASSING ✓
  • TypeScript compilation: SUCCESS ✓

Phase 3: Shell Command Injection ✅ COMPLETE

✅ Alerts #14-17 (HIGH) - Shell Command Injection

Files:

  • tests/test-claude-md-update.js (lines 30, 73, 94)
  • security/secure-command-executor.js (lines 93, 128)

Status: FIXED

Solution:

  • Replaced exec() → execFile() (no shell spawning)
  • Replaced execSync() → execFileSync() (no shell spawning)
  • Changed from string commands to array arguments
  • Removed shell metacharacter interpretation

Before (VULNERABLE):

execSync(`node ${path.join(...)} init ${testDir}`, options)
exec(sanitized.fullCommand, options, callback)

After (SECURE):

execFileSync('node', [path.join(...), 'init', testDir], options)
execFile(sanitized.command, sanitized.args, options, callback)

Verification: Build passing ✓

Phase 4: Incomplete Sanitization ✅ COMPLETE

✅ Alerts #18-20 (MEDIUM) - Incomplete Sanitization

Files:

  • tests/agents/DeploymentReadinessAgent.test.ts:36
  • tests/simple-performance-test.js:545
  • tests/performance-benchmark.ts:809

Status: FIXED

Solution:

Alert #18 - Replace only first occurrence:

// BEFORE:
const prefix = key.replace('*', '');  // Only first

// AFTER:
const prefix = key.replace(/\*/g, ''); // All occurrences (global flag)

Alerts #19, #20 - Missing backslash escaping:

// BEFORE:
const reportData = report.replace(/'/g, "\\'");  // Missing \\ escaping

// AFTER:
const reportData = report.replace(/\\/g, '\\\\').replace(/'/g, "\\'");  // Escape \\ first

Verification: Build passing ✓

⏳ REMAINING ISSUES (3/23 = 13%)

⚠️ Alert #1 (Dependabot) - validator.js CVE

Package: validator@13.15.15 (transitive dependency via flow-nexus) CVE: CVE-2025-56200 Severity: Medium Status: BLOCKED (upstream dependency)

Issue: validator.js has URL validation bypass vulnerability

Attempted Fix:

npm update validator # No effect (transitive dependency)
npm audit fix # Cannot update (needs flow-nexus update)

Recommendation:

  1. Wait for flow-nexus to update its validator dependency
  2. OR: Replace validator usage with native URL() constructor:
    function isValidURL(urlString: string): boolean {
      try {
        const url = new URL(urlString);
        return ['http:', 'https:'].includes(url.protocol);
      } catch {
        return false;
      }
    }
