Boshen 943462f22c feat(module_lexer)!: remove oxc_module_lexer (#7595)
This crate will no longer be relevant after we export esm information
directly from the parser.

Besides, `ex-module-lexer`'s output data is too limited for plugin
authors to use.

Boshen d942a8d41a chore: Rust v1.83.0 changes (#7535)
This PR does not upgrade rustc. Only changes are applied.

We cannot upgrade to the lastet Rust version yet due to wasm-bindgen
breaking some generated types.

THere's also some elided lifetimes in `**/generated/**`, which requires
modification to ast tools.

burlinchen 38e7351a91 chore(napi): Refactor async parsing functions to remove tokio dependency (#4049)
Resolves #4044
- Added `use napi::{bindgen_prelude::AsyncTask, Task}` to handle async
tasks without tokio.
- Introduced `ResolveTask` struct implementing `Task` for asynchronous
parsing.
- Replaced `parse_sync` function implementation with `parse_with_return`
to reuse code.
- Refactored `parse_async` to use `AsyncTask` and `ResolveTask` for
async parsing.
- Removed tokio dependency by avoiding `tokio::spawn` and using
`AsyncTask` for async operations.

This refactor enhances code readability and removes the dependency on
tokio, streamlining the async task handling within the napi framework.

Boshen 2064ae9e0a refactor(parser,diagnostic): one diagnostic struct to eliminate monomorphization of generic types (#3214)
part of #3213

We should only have one diagnostic struct instead 353 copies of them, so we don't end up choking LLVM with 50k lines of the same code due to monomorphization.

If the proposed approach is good, then I'll start writing a codemod to turn all the existing structs to plain functions.

Background:

Using `--timings`, we see `oxc_linter` is slow on codegen (the purple part).

![image](https://github.com/zkat/miette/assets/1430279/c1df4f7d-90ef-4c0f-9956-2ec3194db7ca)

The crate currently contains 353 miette errors. [cargo-llvm-lines](https://github.com/dtolnay/cargo-llvm-lines) displays

```
cargo llvm-lines -p oxc_linter --lib --release
It's totalling more than 50k llvm lines, and is putting pressure on rustc codegen (the purple part on `oxc_linter` in the image above.
It's pretty obvious by looking at https://github.com/zkat/miette/blob/main/src/eyreish/error.rs, the generics can expand out to lots of code.
overlookmotel 2fe158d0d6 refactor(tasks): separate NAPI benchmark CI job (#2783)
Not a substantive change. This just prevents the other benchmark jobs
showing greyed-out "Build NAPI benchmark" steps, and makes the workflow
file easier to follow.
CI tasks were stuck at "Waiting for status to be reported", and unable
to merge until they passed. Problem was that CI task doesn't run if only
`.yml` files are altered. So have added a dummy comment to a random Rust
file just to get it to run. Will make another PR after to remove the
comment again!
overlookmotel 508091314f feat(tasks): benchmark NodeJS parser (#2770)
Add NodeJS parser to benchmarks.
Previous attempt #2724 did not work due CodSpeed producing very
inaccurate results (https://github.com/CodSpeedHQ/action/issues/96).
This version runs the actual benchmarks without CodSpeed's
instrumentation. Then another faux-benchmark runs within Codspeed's
instrumented action and just performs meaningless calculations in a loop
for as long as is required to take same amount of time as the original
uninstrumented benchmarks took.
It's unfortunate that we therefore don't get flame graphs on CodSpeed,
but this seems to be the best we can do for now.
overlookmotel af47aebc7c chore(napi): add oxc-parser to benchmarks (#2724)
Closes #2616.
Adds benchmarks for NodeJS NAPI build. Measurement includes `JSON.parse`
of the AST on JS side, since that's how it'll be used 99% of the time.
Benchmarks run against same files as Rust parser benchmarks, so we can
see the overhead of transferring AST to JS.
Boshen 697b6b70c0 feat: merge features serde and wasm to serialize (#2716)
This PR merges the previous confusing features `serde` and `wasm` into a
We'll eventually do serialize + type information for both wasm and napi
targets.
`oxc_macros` is removed from `oxc_ast`'s dependency because it requires
`syn` and friends, which goes against our policy ["Third-party
dependencies should be
minimal."](https://oxc-project.github.io/docs/contribute/rules.html#development-policy)
Boshen 32303b20fb New tool: oxc_module_lexer (#2650)
# Oxc Module Lexer
This is not a lexer. The name "lexer" is used for easier recognition.
## [es-module-lexer](https://github.com/guybedford/es-module-lexer)
Outputs the list of exports and locations of import specifiers,
including dynamic import and import meta handling.
Does not have any
[limitations](https://github.com/guybedford/es-module-lexer?tab=readme-ov-file#limitations)
mentioned in `es-module-lexer`.
I'll also work on the following cases to make this feature complete.
- [ ] get imported variables
https://github.com/guybedford/es-module-lexer/issues/163
- [ ] track star exports as imports as well
https://github.com/guybedford/es-module-lexer/issues/76
- [ ] TypeScript specific syntax
- [ ] TypeScript `type` import / export keyword
## [cjs-module-lexer](https://github.com/nodejs/cjs-module-lexer)
- [ ] TODO
## Benchmark
This is 2 times slower than `es-module-lexer`, but will be significantly
faster when TypeScript is processed.
The difference is around 10ms vs 20ms on a large file (700k).
