All agents now see the required --session/--system contract in their system prompt.
Covers CLI flags, env var fallback, and per-harness conventions (gateway, system-bus, pi sessions).
Pi's custom SYSTEM.md branch doesn't inject identity files separately.
Append them directly so they're in the system prompt.
SYSTEM-base.md is the base prompt without identity files.
scripts/build-system-prompt.sh rebuilds SYSTEM.md for any role.
- 'IMPROVE THE SYSTEM' as title
- Inngest principle demands loading inngest skills before work
- Gateway principle → agent mail principle (mandatory comms)
- Mail: always include paths, task context, read frequently
- Secrets/deploy explicitly cite joelclaw CLI commands
- Capabilities section: all are joelclaw CLI commands with interface contracts
- Added ROLE.md to identity file list (gateway, codex worker, etc.)
- Dropped principle count from 10 to 9 (gateway role moved to ROLE.md)
System Capabilities section describes WHAT agents can do abstractly:
observe, recall, mail, secrets, deploy, notify, heal, log.
Pi extension will register these as tools backed by joelclaw CLI.
Principles reference capabilities by name, not CLI syntax.
- Opens with 'joelclaw' not meta-description of what the file is
- All principles cite specific joelclaw CLI commands
- Skills path: 'joelclaw/skills/' not '55+ skills'
- Memory/search: 'joelclaw recall' not 'Typesense'
- Agent mail: 'joelclaw mail' with AT Proto evolution note
- Secrets: 'joelclaw secrets' not raw secrets CLI
- Deploy: 'joelclaw deploy' not raw scripts
- Added full CLI command reference section
- Removed separate Core Tools section (CLI IS the tool)
- Kept slog as standalone (structured logging)
