Jordan Ritter 50439f5e12 fix: remove unused variables and prevent silent test pass in dark mode tests ...

Remove captured-but-never-asserted colorBefore and markerColorLight
variables. Replace silent if-guard in poweredBy test with explicit
test.skip so missing elements surface in test reports instead of
silently passing.
