Fixes#2596
## Summary
`@copilotkit/runtime-client-gql` was still assuming abort-shaped errors
always expose a string `message`, which could turn an early-stop path
into a secondary TypeError instead of a clean abort suppression or the
original failure. This branch centralizes abort detection behind a
null-safe helper and keeps the existing abort phrases unchanged.
## Changes
- Replaced the duplicated abort checks in
`packages/runtime-client-gql/src/client/CopilotRuntimeClient.ts` with a
shared `isAbortError(unknown)` helper that only inspects string
messages.
- Added focused regression coverage in
`packages/runtime-client-gql/src/client/__tests__/CopilotRuntimeClient.test.ts`
for a string abort cause, an object without `message`, known abort
suppression in the stream path, and non-abort stream errors surfacing
normally.
- Added `.changeset/guard-abort-error-message.md` for the patch release
note.
## Scope
Only `packages/runtime-client-gql` and its local changeset are touched.
The abort phrases, caller-facing API, structured GraphQL error handling,
and stream close behavior for known aborts are unchanged.
## Test Plan
- [x] `npx nx run @copilotkit/runtime-client-gql:graphql-codegen` -
regenerated the package GraphQL artifacts used by the client imports.
- [x] `pnpm run build` - workspace build completed successfully.
- [x] `pnpm -C packages/runtime-client-gql exec vitest run
src/client/__tests__/CopilotRuntimeClient.test.ts` - 4/4 passed. Covers
a string abort cause in the fetch path, an object with no `message` in
the fetch path, known abort suppression in the stream path, and
non-abort stream errors surfacing.
- [x] `pnpm exec oxfmt --write
packages/runtime-client-gql/src/client/CopilotRuntimeClient.ts
packages/runtime-client-gql/src/client/__tests__/CopilotRuntimeClient.test.ts`
- formatted the touched source and test files.
- [x] `pnpm exec oxlint
packages/runtime-client-gql/src/client/CopilotRuntimeClient.ts
packages/runtime-client-gql/src/client/__tests__/CopilotRuntimeClient.test.ts`
- 0 warnings, 0 errors.
Repairs TypeScript check-types across the monorepo and adds a CI gate so
regressions are caught going forward:
- core: bundler module resolution and strict-mode fixes
- sdk-js: bundler module resolution; keep codegen, formatter, packaging working
- react-core: fixes across components, hooks, and tests
- react-native: restore catch binding referenced by TypeError cause
- runtime: repair check-types and bound AI SDK schema inference
- web-inspector: nodenext import extensions, export Anchor
- remaining packages and node example: assorted check-types repairs
- deps: add missing type-only devDependencies
- license context driven from /info licenseStatus
- ci: run check-types in the static quality workflow
Squashed from 12 commits for a single, easily-revertable change.
Adds two CI signals for keeping the published packages small and broadly compatible:
- Bundle size: size-limit file-mode config across packages plus a
CopilotChat import-size regression signal (gzip) so growth in the
headline consumer entrypoint is visible on every PR. A bundle-size
workflow comments results on the PR (Phase 1: no hard-fail).
- ES compatibility: a compat-check (es-check) script across 9 packages
with a root .browserslistrc, validating built .mjs/.cjs against the
es2022 build target.
The measure script is importable (measureBundle) and unit-tested. Dev
docs live under dev-docs/ (bundle-size.md, browser-compat.md). All
action refs are pinned to full commit SHAs for supply-chain safety.
Reverts the copy-dts.mjs approach from #3612 in favor of typesVersions
which is the standard Node/TS mechanism for resolving subpath types
under legacy moduleResolution: "node".
Copies .d.cts → .d.ts after each tsdown build so consumers on
moduleResolution "node" (e.g. DocuSign) can resolve types without
changing their tsconfig. Also points the "types" field back to .d.ts.

All @copilotkit/* packages were missing type declarations in their exports
map. This meant TypeScript couldn't resolve types for subpath imports like
@copilotkit/react-core/v2 without manual tsconfig paths workarounds
pointing to dist .d.ts files (which no longer exist after the tsup to
tsdown migration).
Uses nested conditional exports to map .d.mts for ESM and .d.cts for CJS
consumers, satisfying both attw and TypeScript module resolution under
nodenext and bundler modes.
