Mike Ryan d5b804698d fix(examples): suppress browser-extension hydration warning on <body> across integration demos (#5568)
## What

1. Add `suppressHydrationWarning` to `<body>` across **all 14
integration demo templates**
(`examples/integrations/*/src/app/layout.tsx`).
2. Fix a pre-existing **double-escaped Windows path** bug in the parity
manifest's `packageJsonOverrides`.

## Why (hydration)

**Mike Ryan hit a hydration error on first load of a fresh
`langgraph-python` init — caused by his Grammarly browser extension.**

Grammarly (and similar extensions) inject attributes onto `<body>`
*before* React hydrates:

```
data-new-gr-c-s-check-loaded="9.98.0"
data-gr-ext-installed=""
```

Those attributes are in the client DOM but absent from the server HTML,
so Next.js reports:

> A tree hydrated but some attributes of the server rendered HTML didn't
match the client properties.

It's a **false positive** — the app works, and end users (without dev
extensions) never see it — but it's a red console error on the first
load of our flagship eval/showcase templates, which is a poor first
impression.

## Fix (hydration)

`suppressHydrationWarning` on `<body>` is the React/Next.js-recommended
escape hatch for this. It is **scoped and one level deep**: it only
relaxes the check for `<body>`'s *own* attributes/text — **everything
rendered inside `<body>` (the whole app) is still fully
hydration-checked** — and `<body>`'s only attribute here is a static
`className`, so none of our own markup is masked. An inline comment
documents this so a future maintainer who adds dynamic `<body>`
attributes knows the check is relaxed.

`agent-spec` already had `suppressHydrationWarning` on `<html>`; the
Grammarly attributes land on `<body>`, so it needed the body-level
relaxation too (the `<html>` one is a level up and doesn't cover
`<body>`'s attributes).

## Commits

1. `b1fa482a7` — north-star (`langgraph-python`) + parity instances
(`langgraph-js`, `langgraph-fastapi`, `strands-python`) via `pnpm
parity:sync`.
2. `9f9c415d9` — the non-parity templates (not tracked by
`_parity/manifest.json`): `adk`, `agno`, `crewai-crews`, `crewai-flows`,
`llamaindex`, `mastra`, `ms-agent-framework-dotnet`,
`ms-agent-framework-python`, `pydantic-ai`, `agent-spec`. *(The repo's
`oxfmt` pre-commit hook also collapsed some multiline `<CopilotKit …>`
JSX in these files — standard auto-format on touched files; the only
semantic change is the suppression.)*
3. `7d60e49de` — parity manifest path-escaping fix (see below).

## The manifest bug (commit 3)

While syncing I found the `langgraph-js` and `strands-python`
`packageJsonOverrides` double-escaped the Windows `.bat` fallback,
producing `scripts\\run-agent.bat` (two backslashes) instead of
`scripts\run-agent.bat`:

- `langgraph-js/package.json` had already been synced with the broken
value.
- `strands-python/package.json` was still correct — and `parity:sync`
would have **corrupted** it on the next run (which is what surfaced
this).

Fixed the three overrides and re-ran `parity:sync`, which corrects
`langgraph-js/package.json` and leaves `strands-python`'s correct value
intact.

## Test plan

- [x] `pnpm parity:verify` → 0 errors
- [x] lefthook pre-commit green on all 3 commits (lint + `packages/**`
tests + commitlint)
- [x] All 14 templates confirmed to have body-level
`suppressHydrationWarning`
- [ ] Reviewer with Grammarly installed: run/`init` a template and
confirm no hydration error on first load

Maximiliano Korp 9f9c415d98 fix(examples): suppress browser-extension hydration warning on <body> (non-parity templates)
Extend the same `<body suppressHydrationWarning>` fix to the integration
templates that are not tracked by examples/integrations/_parity/manifest.json,
so they don't surface a Grammarly-style hydration mismatch on first load:
adk, agno, crewai-crews, crewai-flows, llamaindex, mastra,
ms-agent-framework-dotnet, ms-agent-framework-python, pydantic-ai, agent-spec.

agent-spec already had suppressHydrationWarning on <html>; the Grammarly
attributes land on <body>, so it needs the body-level relaxation too (the
<html> one is one level up and does not cover <body>'s attributes).

Mike Ryan ab47e6b132 fix(examples): update threads license command (#5564)
## Summary
- Update locked Threads drawer copy in integration examples to use `npx
copilotkit@latest license`
- Keep the command consistent across the example variants that render
the licensed feature panel

## Validation
- Pre-commit hooks ran lint/check package hooks successfully
- Verified integration examples no longer render the stale `copilotkit
license` command

Maxim a144323d35 fix(examples): regenerate integration lockfiles for npm ci
The previous lockfiles were written with `npm install --package-lock-only`,
which left out optional transitive deps (e.g. @emnapi/wasi-threads). The
Docker smoke-starter build runs strict `npm ci`, which then failed with
"package.json and package-lock.json not in sync" (crewai-crews, 9s fail).

Regenerated each lockfile with a full `npm install --ignore-scripts` so the
tree is complete. Verified `npm ci` now succeeds (crewai-crews, mastra) and
all resolve @ag-ui/client 0.0.57.

Maxim cef4fab9d7 fix(examples): bump remaining integrations to 1.60.1 + @ag-ui 0.0.57
Follow-up to the @copilotkit 1.60.1 bump so the integration-demo parity
check passes. The north-star (langgraph-python) is now on 1.60.1, and the
_parity manifest requires every examples/integrations/* demo to track the
same @copilotkit version — so all integrations must move together.

- @copilotkit/* 1.60.0 -> 1.60.1 across the remaining integrations.
- Starter-fleet apps force a single @ag-ui tree via `overrides`
  (@ag-ui/client|core|encoder|proto). Bump that single-tree pin
  0.0.53/0.0.55 -> 0.0.57 so they actually carry the HttpAgent fetch fix
  (Illegal invocation) instead of a 1.60.1<->0.0.55 skew. Adapter packages
  (@ag-ui/crewai, @ag-ui/mastra, @ag-ui/llamaindex, @ag-ui/a2a, middlewares)
  are left untouched.
- Lockfiles regenerated; all resolve @ag-ui/client 0.0.57.

Per-integration smoke-starter CI validates each starter against 0.0.57.

Bumps every @copilotkit/* pin (react-core, react-ui, runtime, a2ui-renderer,
sdk-js) from 1.59.5 to 1.60.0 across the threads-enabled integration examples,
and regenerates each package-lock.json to the 1.60.0 dependency closure.
Excludes the vestigial langgraph-python-threads example.

add npm overrides pinning @ag-ui/{client,core,encoder,proto} to 0.0.55 so

same bump alongside its dist-tag pin fixes in a separate commit.

The locked-state card told users to add an Intelligence license with

Intelligence overlay and does not issue a license (and is not yet wired
into the CLI dispatch). The command that issues a license key is
`copilotkit license`.

Jordan Ritter 64fb3432fe fix(examples/integrations/crewai-crews): pin Next to 16.2.7
The smoke Dockerfile previously relied on a floating `npm install
next@latest` to upgrade crewai-crews from its pinned Next ^15.5.15 to
Next 16. PR #5250 removed that floating line for all starters, which was
correct for the other five but broke crewai-crews: Next 15 cannot
compile @copilotkit/react-core's `export *` re-exports, so the app build
failed.

Pin `next` to 16.2.7 (current latest, the patched build that compiles
react-core and is free of the 16.0.x security advisory) instead of
restoring the floating dependency. Locally, a clean no-cache
docker-compose smoke build compiles, boots, and passes all 4 starter
smoke tests.
2026-06-04 13:08:37 -07:00
Jordan Ritter fce4a83d1f fix(examples): remove floating next@latest from starter smoke Dockerfiles
The smoke-test app Dockerfiles ran `RUN npm install next@latest` right after
installing the pinned deps from package.json. This overrode the deliberate
`next` pin with a floating version (non-deterministic builds) and added a
flaky network round-trip that broke the agno smoke build with ECONNRESET on
2026-06-04 (run 26972381969). Every affected starter already pins `next` in
package.json (agno 16.0.7, adk 16.1.1, crewai ^15.5.15, llamaindex 16.0.8,
ms-agent-framework-python 16.0.8, pydantic-ai 16.0.7), so the extra install
is pure harm. Removing it makes builds deterministic and removes the network
fragility.

Benjamin Taylor 26ea1187e7 Merge ben1/intelligence-threads-examples-rollout into codex/ent-734-crewai-crews
Graft resolution (her branch predates the crewai-crews rebuild on main):
- page.tsx: jpr5's rebuilt full demo (setThemeColor/updateProverb/
  get_weather tools, seed effect, delete buttons, WeatherCard) is the
  base; her threads shell (drawer + gate + provider) grafted around it;
  agent key AGENT_ID=default (was starterAgent on her branch)
- layout/route/package.json: rollout side (default key, AGENT_URL
  normalization, 1.59.3) + her drawer deps + intelligence route block
- contract test: crewai-crews added to the parameterized array (66/66)
- lockfile regenerated; .gitignore !.env.example negation added

Jordan Ritter de6a53304d fix(examples/integrations/crewai-crews): stop @chat crash from non-serializable useFrontendTool dep
The updateProverb useFrontendTool passed the live `agent` object in its
deps array. react-core's use-frontend-tool does JSON.stringify(extraDeps),
which throws "Converting circular structure to JSON" on agent.activeRunDetach$
(an RxJS Subject), crashing the React tree so no assistant bubble renders.

`agent`/`agent.setState` are stable references; only `state` needs to be a
dep. Also bump the docker ag-ui-crewai override to >=0.2.0,<0.3.0 to match
agent/requirements.txt and the showcase backend.

Jordan Ritter 4bf50c7c41 refactor(examples): standardize starter agent key to default
Rename the registered agent key from each starter's bespoke name
(my_agent / agno_agent / starterAgent / sample_agent) to "default" so the
7 single-agent sidebar starters match the passing langgraph/strands
starters' config exactly: drop the frontend `agent=` prop on <CopilotKit>
(falls back to "default") and update the runtime route registration plus
every agentId reference in page.tsx (ThreadsDrawer,
CopilotChatConfigurationProvider, useAgent/useCoAgent).

The functional `useSingleEndpoint={false}` fix that makes starter chat
reach the agent already landed on main; this change brings the agent-key
config in line with the passing set. mastra is intentionally left on its
framework-derived key (MastraAgent.getLocalAgents) — its keys are not
literals and cannot be forced to "default" without diverging from Mastra.

Verified locally via agno docker-compose.test.yml smoke (aimock): @chat
round-trip passes (assistant streams in ~1.0s) with the standardized
"default" key; removing useSingleEndpoint={false} reproduces the documented
404 / "no assistant response" failure (chat degrades to ~1.1m, @interaction
fails on single-endpoint 404s).

Benjamin Taylor bdea454fe7 fix(examples): v2 label keys for crewai-crews + pydantic-ai sidebars
Same dead-v1-labels bug as the batch-1 starters: labels.title/initial are
ignored by the v2 CopilotSidebar, so the header rendered the default
'CopilotKit Chat' and the starter smoke's text=Popup Assistant wait timed
out (crewai-crews @interaction). Map to the v2 keys (modalHeaderTitle /
welcomeMessageText) in the two v2-migrated starters that were missed in the
earlier pass.

Verified with the exact CI compose for crewai-crews: 4 passed, exit 0.

Benjamin Taylor 7b15d20795 fix(examples): heal v2-migrated starters left on 1.55.2 (llamaindex, crewai-crews, pydantic-ai)
These three starters were migrated to the v2 API surface (23af69041c, already
on main) but never got the matching @copilotkit version bump or provider
config, so their starter smoke is red ON MAIN today (main's latest run is red
for 9 starters) — not a regression from this PR. Healing them here to green
the required check:

- bump @copilotkit/react-core + runtime to 1.59.1 (the v2 pages don't work
  against the 1.55.2 pair — same failure mastra had pre-bump; runs 404/hang)
- add useSingleEndpoint={false} to the CopilotKit provider, matching every
  batch-1 example: without it the v2 client's endpoint-detection probe GETs
  the bare /api/copilotkit, which 404s on the multi-route endpoint and trips
  the smoke's zero-console-errors assertion

Verified with the exact CI command (docker compose -f docker-compose.test.yml
up --exit-code-from tests) for llamaindex: 4 passed, exit 0.

Migrate 15 example integrations from the v1 compatibility facade to
native v2 CopilotKit APIs. The v1 surface delegates to v2 internally
so this is an API surface change, not a functional one.

Key changes per integration:
- Import paths: @copilotkit/react-core -> react-core/v2,
  @copilotkit/runtime -> runtime/v2
- Hook renames: useCoAgent -> useAgent, useCopilotAction ->
  useFrontendTool, useRenderToolCall -> useRenderTool
- UI: CopilotSidebar from react-ui -> react-core/v2
- Styles: react-ui/styles.css -> react-core/v2/styles.css
- Runtime: copilotRuntimeNextJSAppRouterEndpoint ->
  createCopilotEndpoint + hono/vercel
- Removed @copilotkit/react-ui and @copilotkit/shared deps

Integrations migrated (v1 -> v2):
  a2a-middleware, adk, agno, crewai-crews, crewai-flows,
  langgraph-js, llamaindex, mastra, ms-agent-framework-dotnet,
  ms-agent-framework-python, pydantic-ai, strands-python

Mixed integrations cleaned up (stale deps removed):

Jordan Ritter 0d9ead7556 fix(starters): replace curl|sh uv install with COPY from uv image
Replace `RUN curl -LsSf https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | sh` across all
starter Dockerfiles with `COPY --from=ghcr.io/astral-sh/uv:latest /uv /uvx
/usr/local/bin/`. The curl|sh form has a pipe-swallow latent bug: when
astral.sh returns a 5xx, curl fails but `sh` gets no stdin and exits 0,
so the layer "succeeds" with no uv binary. A later `RUN uv sync` then
crashes with `uv: not found` (exit 127). This already bit the agno
starter today (run 24809910399) when astral.sh had a transient outage;
upstream recovered on its own so this is latent-bug cleanup, not a
hotfix.

Using the official uv image is uv's own recommended pattern: it's
cache-friendly, network-free at build time, and sidesteps the pipe
failure mode entirely.

Scope: all 20 Dockerfiles under examples/integrations/*/Dockerfile,
examples/integrations/*/docker/Dockerfile.agent, and
examples/showcases/scene-creator/agent/Dockerfile.

Verified locally: `docker build -f docker/Dockerfile.agent ./agent`
for agno succeeds against the new pattern.

Jordan Ritter b60ce9d31b fix(examples/crewai-crews): bump ag-ui-crewai pin to 0.2.x
ag-ui-crewai 0.1.5 contains three defects that took down crewai-crews
in prod for 9h on 2026-04-21: unguarded .messages access, orphan
asyncio.create_task, and sync completion() calls. All three are fixed
in 0.2.0 (ag-ui PR #1550).

Showcase already moved to 0.2.x in PR #4115. Dojo is the user-facing
reference — leaving it on 0.1.5 means every reader clones the broken
version. This closes the validate-pins drift.

Pip dry-run resolves ag-ui-crewai-0.2.0 cleanly with no conflicts.
Grep of examples/integrations/crewai-crews/ confirms no consumer code
touches the 0.1.5 defect paths (.state.messages, create_task,
completion sync).

Jordan Ritter e05181265a fix: drop --with-deps from starter-smoke Playwright install
The Playwright Docker image (mcr.microsoft.com/playwright:v1.52.0-noble)
ships with all Chromium system libraries and browsers pre-installed, so
`--with-deps` adds no runtime value — it only forces a redundant
`apt-get update && apt-get install` inside the tests container.

That apt-get call is the sole source of the intermittent
"Installation process exited with code: 100" / "Failed to install

underlying cause is transient Ubuntu archive mirror hash/size mismatches
("File has unexpected size ... Mirror sync in progress?", "Hash Sum
mismatch"), which cause apt to abort with exit 100. Because each matrix
job races apt against archive.ubuntu.com independently, the failing
subset rotates per run (run 24526747926 hit 5 starters; run 24509673514
hit a different 5; run 24495760568 hit 3) — classic flake, not a per-
starter regression.

Dropping --with-deps eliminates the apt-get call entirely. The browsers
themselves are already present at /ms-playwright/chromium-* in the base
image, and `npx playwright install chromium` remains as a cheap no-op
that self-heals if the pinned Playwright version ever drifts from the
image's bundled browser build.

Alem Tuzlak 96ed9151d7 fix: default to npm in all starter READMEs, support any package manager
Reorder package manager instructions to show npm first as the default.
Remove stale 'ignores lock files' notes since lock file entries were
removed from .gitignore. All starters now work with npm, pnpm, yarn,
or bun — user's choice.

Alem Tuzlak 4f49da19e0 fix: remove lock file entries from all starter .gitignore files
Starters should not constrain users to a specific package manager.
The .gitignore gets cloned into the user's project, so ignoring
certain lock files would prevent them from committing their chosen
package manager's lock file.

Jordan Ritter 15e096dd6b fix: starter-crewai-crews ignore TS build errors in Docker
HttpAgent type doesn't fully implement AbstractAgent, causing TS type
error during next build. Use ignoreBuildErrors like other starters.

Martha Schumann 92f5bba0e4 chore: bump @copilotkit/* versions to 1.55.1 in all integration templates
Templates had stale pinned versions ranging from 1.9.3 to 1.52.1.
The CLI does a verbatim sparse checkout of these files, so users
scaffolding via `copilotkit create` were getting old versions installed.

Jordan Ritter ebcb227ba3 Remove redundant sed agent URL patches from test Dockerfiles
Source route.ts files now read process.env.AGENT_URL natively (PR #3737),
so the build-time sed patches and verification greps are no longer needed.

Also removes crewai-crews docker-route-override.ts and its COPY line,
since that starter's route.ts already has AGENT_URL support.

Tyler Slaton 7f2a9ae176 feat(runtime): add factory mode to BuiltInAgent for backend-agnostic LLM integration (#3572)
## Summary

Adds **factory mode** to `BuiltInAgent`, enabling backend-agnostic LLM
integration without introducing a new class. Users provide a factory
function that creates the LLM stream — CopilotKit handles lifecycle
events, stream-to-AG-UI conversion, error handling, and
abort/cancellation.

### What's included

- **Three backend types**: `aisdk` (Vercel AI SDK), `tanstack` (TanStack
AI), and `custom` (raw AG-UI events)
- **Stream converters**: `convertAISDKStream` and
`convertTanStackStream` extract AG-UI events from backend-native streams
- **Input helpers**: `convertInputToTanStackAI` and
`convertMessagesToVercelAISDKMessages` for message/prompt conversion
- **State management**: Automatic `STATE_SNAPSHOT`/`STATE_DELTA` event
extraction from tool results
- **Reasoning support**: Auto-close logic for providers that never emit
`reasoning-end` (e.g. `@ai-sdk/anthropic`)
- **273 tests** across 16 test files covering all backend types,
converters, state tools, multimodal, and edge cases
- **Docs**: Comprehensive factory mode guide with 16 examples covering
tools, reasoning, state, forwardedProps, structured output
- **Example app**: React Router example migrated to factory mode

### Architecture

Factory mode is a discriminated union on `BuiltInAgentConfiguration`:

```typescript
const agent = new BuiltInAgent({
  type: "aisdk",           // or "tanstack" | "custom"
  factory: ({ input, abortSignal }) =>
    streamText({ model: openai("gpt-4o"), messages: ..., abortSignal }),
});
```

No new public classes — `BuiltInAgent` handles both simple mode (model
string) and factory mode (user-owned LLM call).

## PR feedback addressed

### Critical fixes
- **C1/M3**: Fixed TOCTOU window — `abortController` now set
synchronously before Observable creation in classic `run()`, with
concurrent run guard
- **C2/M2**: Classic `tool-result` now checks both `output` and `result`
property names, with `try/catch` on `JSON.stringify`
- **C3**: Error case safely handles `undefined` `p.error` with proper
fallback chain

### Important fixes
- **I2**: `RUN_ERROR` events now include `threadId` and `runId` in
classic mode (matching factory mode)
- **I3**: State tool events guarded against `undefined` snapshot/delta
before emitting
- **I4**: `JSON.stringify` wrapped in try/catch with descriptive
fallback message
- **M1**: `assignToolsToAgents` now skips factory-mode agents (prevents
config corruption)
- **M5**: TanStack converter's dropped event types documented with clear
limitation note

### Suggestions addressed
- **S1**: `@ts-expect-error` on `clone()` middlewares documented with
rationale
- **M4**: `AgentFactoryContext.abortController` kept (needed by TanStack
AI) but JSDoc added discouraging direct `.abort()` calls

## Test plan

- [x] 273 unit tests pass across all 3 backend types
- [x] Build succeeds
- [x] React Router example compiles
- [x] Docs render correctly (Vercel preview)

Jordan Ritter a3ff477e16 feat: add /health endpoint to all starter integration examples (#3738)
## Summary

Adds a `/health` GET endpoint returning `{"status": "ok"}` to all 11
starter integration examples. This is a best practice for any deployed
service — health checks enable platform health monitoring, load balancer
probes, and container lifecycle management.

**11 starters updated:**
- adk, agent-spec, agno, crewai-crews, crewai-flows, langgraph-fastapi,
llamaindex, ms-agent-framework-dotnet, ms-agent-framework-python,
pydantic-ai, strands-python

**1 skipped:**
- langgraph-python — uses `langgraph dev` which provides its own `/ok`
endpoint

All `/health` endpoints are registered before any catch-all mount to
ensure they take priority (lesson learned from the pydantic-ai showcase
bug).

## Test plan

- [ ] Each starter builds successfully
- [ ] `curl localhost:8000/health` returns `{"status": "ok"}` on each
