Moves all 239 showcase integration routes off
`copilotRuntimeNextJSAppRouterEndpoint`, the deprecated v1 Next.js adapter, so
the v1 entrypoint has no remaining code-level users under
`showcase/integrations/`.
const copilotHandler = createCopilotRuntimeHandler({
runtime,
basePath: "/api/copilotkit-x",
mode: "single-route",
});
...
return await copilotHandler(req);
## Why single-route, and why this handler
**Single-route** because these demos' frontends are
`<CopilotKit runtimeUrl="/api/copilotkit-x">` with no transport prop, and every
released provider pins the single-route transport. Single-route mode is
therefore a drop-in for the v1 adapter: no frontend change, no path change, no
`GET` export, and nothing here probes `/info`. Migrating to multi-route instead
would have required editing every demo page in lockstep for no functional gain.
**`createCopilotRuntimeHandler`** rather than `createCopilotEndpointSingleRoute`
because that helper is itself deprecated in favour of the `mode` option (see the
deprecated-aliases table in `docs/backend/runtime-endpoints.mdx`), and because
the fetch handler needs no `hono` dependency and composes directly with the
wrappers these routes already have.
The statement is rewritten in place, inside whatever wrapper it already sat in,
so `withForwardedHeaders`, the try/catch envelopes, `wrapStreamingResponse` and
`withCvdiagBackend` are all untouched. 75 of these routes construct the runtime
inline in the call; rewriting in place preserves that per-request construction
exactly as v1 did. No `runner` is added — it is optional, and none of these
routes passed one before.
13 `copilotkit-auth/[[...slug]]` routes already use the v2 fetch handler and are
left alone; they only mention the v1 name in explanatory comments.
## Collateral
- `mastra`'s main route declared a module-level
`const serviceAdapter = new ExperimentalEmptyAdapter()` plus a startup log
about the adapter choice. V2 has no service adapters, so both are gone and the
comment now explains that there is nothing to configure.
- The three `mastra` vitest suites mocked `@copilotkit/runtime` and the v1
`{ handleRequest }` return shape; they now mock `@copilotkit/runtime/v2` and
`createCopilotRuntimeHandler`, which returns the handler directly.
- 27 `@ts-expect-error` directives guarded the **v1** `CopilotRuntime` agents
type ("wraps Record in MaybePromise<NonEmptyRecord<...>>"). Under `/v2` that
hole is gone, which makes the directive unused — a hard error. They are
demoted to `@ts-ignore`, which compiles whether or not the mismatch survives
in a given integration, because 19 of these apps cannot be built locally to
prove it either way. Removing all ~220 now-stale suppressions is left as
follow-up once CI has built every integration green.
## Verified
`mastra` is the one integration installed and exercised locally (19 routes, the
`withCvdiagBackend` main route, and the only vitest suites that touch routes).
Measured against `origin/main` in the same tree:
tsc --noEmit baseline: errors in 10 files
after: errors in 9 files
new errors introduced: NONE
fixed: src/app/api/copilotkit-mcp-apps/route.ts, whose
@ts-expect-error was ALREADY unused on main
vitest run baseline: 2 files failed, 13 tests failed, 21 passed
after: 2 files failed, 13 tests failed, 21 passed
→ test-neutral; those 13 failures are pre-existing on main
Structural audit over all 239 routes: none still imports the v1 root, uses the
v1 adapter, references `ExperimentalEmptyAdapter` or `handleRequest` in code, or
is missing `createCopilotRuntimeHandler` / `basePath` / `mode: "single-route"`.
The shape itself was proved end-to-end before the rollout, in a real running
app with an untouched provider (aimock as the model backend):
`POST /api/copilotkit` -> 200 twice, chat turn rendered.
## Two pre-existing problems found on the way
- `npm ci` fails in `showcase/integrations/mastra`: `Missing:
@types/http-errors@2.0.5 from lock file`. Its Dockerfile uses
`npm ci --legacy-peer-deps`, which does succeed, so the image still builds —
but a plain `npm ci` does not. Untouched here; no manifest or lockfile is in
this diff.
- `mastra`'s vitest suite is red on `main` (13 failures, mostly
`extractXHeaders` dereferencing `req.headers` on a `{}` fake request).

## What this is
`multimodal` (Attachments) has never worked on **`llamaindex`** or
**`crewai-crews`**, but both manifests
listed it under `features`, so the fleet probed it and reported **red**.
A red chip says "this regressed".
The truth is "this was never built". This PR marks both cells
**unsupported** instead. It does **not**
implement the feature, and it does **not** suppress the cell — the cell
still exists, the demo stays wired,
and the chip renders the 🚫 unsupported glyph.
## Mechanism used (existing, not invented)
The repo already has exactly one way to declare a feature unsupported
for an integration:
**`not_supported_features` in the integration's `manifest.yaml`**. The
full derivation chain:
| Step | Location |
|---|---|
| Declaration | `showcase/integrations/<slug>/manifest.yaml` ->
`not_supported_features:` |
| Schema | `showcase/shared/manifest.schema.json` — *"feature IDs that
this integration's framework cannot architecturally support … excluded
from parity computation"* |
| Status fold |
`showcase/harness/src/shared/catalog/catalog-flatten.ts:239` —
`determineCellStatus()` checks `not_supported_features` **first**,
returns `status: "unsupported"` |
| Input mapping |
`showcase/harness/src/shared/cell-model/catalog-input.ts:53` —
`isSupported: cell.status !== "unsupported"` |
| Model | `showcase/harness/src/shared/cell-model/cell-model.ts:847` —
`if (!isSupported) return UNSUPPORTED;` (the frozen singleton at `:551`:
`supported: false`, `chipColor: "gray"`, `isRegression: false`) |
| `/api/matrix` | `showcase/harness/src/http/matrix.ts:206` ->
`matrix-compute.ts:53` — projects that same model, so the API value
**is** the rendered chip by construction |
| Render |
`showcase/shell-dashboard/src/components/unified-cell.tsx:308` — `if
(!model.supported)` renders `data-testid="unified-cell-unsupported"`
with 🚫 and `title="Not supported by this framework"` |
The mechanical guard at `catalog-flatten.ts:169` rejects a feature that
appears in **both** `features` and
`not_supported_features`, so each entry was **moved**, not duplicated.
Note this mechanism is strictly stronger than a probe-side skip:
`buildCellModel` returns `UNSUPPORTED`
regardless of what the live PocketBase row says. Verified against the
existing not-supported cells on these
same two integrations, which carry **green** PB rows and still render 🚫:
```
llamaindex/gen-ui-interrupt matrix: chip=gray supported=False | PB rows: d5=green d6=green e2e=green
llamaindex/shared-state-streaming matrix: chip=gray supported=False | PB rows: d5=green d6=green e2e=green
crewai-crews/mcp-apps matrix: chip=gray supported=False | PB rows: d5=green d6=green e2e=green
```
So the cell can never read green *or* red once declared here — which is
the property we want.
## Per-integration reason (recorded inline in each manifest)
**`llamaindex` — upstream gap.** The pinned
`llama-index-protocols-ag-ui==0.2.2`
(`llama_index/protocols/ag_ui/utils.py:82-85`) passes an AG-UI
`UserMessage`'s `content` straight into
`ChatMessage(...)`. A text-only turn passes a plain string (fine — every
other llamaindex cell is green);
an attachment turn passes a **list** of AG-UI content-part models, which
pydantic routes into
`ChatMessage.blocks`, a union discriminated on `block_type` — a field
AG-UI's `TextInputContent` /
`ImageInputContent` / `BinaryInputContent` do not carry. Live backend
error:
```
pydantic_core._pydantic_core.ValidationError: 3 validation errors for ChatMessage
blocks.0
Unable to extract tag using discriminator 'block_type' [type=union_tag_not_found,
input_value=TextInputContent(type='te... image I just attached'), input_type=TextInputContent]
```
Fixing it needs a content-part ->
`TextBlock`/`ImageBlock`/`DocumentBlock` conversion, upstream or on our
side of `get_ag_ui_workflow_router`. This PR also corrects that module's
docstring, which asserted the
router *"normalizes them via the OpenAI `input_file` path"* — it does
not.
**`crewai-crews` — never implemented, ours.** `src/agent_server.py`
registers a dedicated AG-UI endpoint for
every other demo but **no `/multimodal` route** (the block ends at the
catch-all
`add_crewai_crew_fastapi_endpoint(app, LatestAiDevelopment(), "/")`),
and there is no
`src/agents/multimodal_agent.py`. So
`src/app/api/copilotkit-multimodal/route.ts` aliases the generic shared
crew, which has no vision handling and dies on a content-part message:
```
[CopilotKit] Error (agent_run_error_event): Error: thread=… run=…: CrewAI flow failed; see server logs
```
That route file's own header comment already concedes the gap ("A
dedicated per-demo crew with vision-tuned
agent prompts is tracked as follow-up work").
## Proof
Method: the **real** `GET /api/matrix` handler (`registerMatrixRoute`)
driven over the **real** production
PocketBase `status` collection (all 3082 rows, fetched verbatim from
`showcase-pocketbase-production.up.railway.app`) and the **real**
on-disk manifests (default `loadCells` =
`buildCatalogCells`, the single flattening authority). Same rows, same
fixed clock
(`now = max(observed_at) + 60s = 1784932566438`) for both runs — the
only variable is the manifest diff.

### CONTROL — an already-supported multimodal cell is untouched
`langgraph-python/multimodal` (the reference integration) is `chip=green
supported=true depth=6/6` **before
and after**, byte-identical. So is every other integration's multimodal
cell, including the four that are
red for unrelated reasons (`agno`, `mastra`, `ms-agent-python`,
`built-in-agent`) — those stay **red**, they
were not swept up.
### Complete set of cells whose state changed — exactly 2 of 1000
Diffing every field of every cell in the `/api/matrix` body, before vs
after (identical 1000-cell keyset):
```
crewai-crews/multimodal red -> unsupported
llamaindex/multimodal red -> unsupported
```
Nothing else. Aggregate confirms no green was manufactured:
```
BEFORE AFTER
chipColor green=632 gray=317 red=51 green=632 gray=319 red=49
supported=false 94 96
```
`green` is **unchanged at 632** — this PR turned two reds into
unsupported and created zero greens.
Second, independent derivation (the dashboard's own generated
`catalog.json`, via
`showcase/scripts/generate-registry.ts`, which runs full AJV validation
first) agrees, and also changes
exactly 2 cells:
```
crewai-crews/multimodal (integrated): status wired -> unsupported, max_depth 4 -> 0
llamaindex/multimodal (integrated): status wired -> unsupported, max_depth 4 -> 0
metadata BEFORE: total_cells 980, wired 688, stub 0, unshipped 198, unsupported 94, docs_only 20
metadata AFTER : total_cells 980, wired 686, stub 0, unshipped 198, unsupported 96, docs_only 20
```
`parity_tier` is unchanged on both columns (already `partial`), and no
other integration's cells moved.
### Live dashboard render
`shell-dashboard` run locally against the prod PocketBase, Playwright
over the real DOM. On the
`feature-row-multimodal` ("Attachments") row, exactly two of twenty
columns carry
`data-testid="unified-cell-unsupported"`:
```
CrewAI (Crews) unsupportedGlyph=TRUE text="🚫"
LlamaIndex unsupportedGlyph=TRUE text="🚫"
LangGraph (Python) unsupportedGlyph=false text="Demo ↗ Code </> D6 UI ✓ BE ✓ 1P ✓ D6 ✓"
Agno unsupportedGlyph=false text="Demo ↗ Code </> D4 UI ✓ BE ✓ 1P ✗ D6 —"
… 16 more, all unsupportedGlyph=false
```
Visually: a grey outlined 🚫 badge in those two columns — plainly not a
green `D6` pill, and not a red `✗`.
Control row `feature-row-agentic-chat` has `unsupportedGlyph=false` in
all twenty columns.
## Quality gates
- `oxfmt --check` on all three changed files — clean
- `oxlint` — 0 warnings, 0 errors
- `generate-registry.ts --validate-only` (AJV against
`manifest.schema.json`) — passes; confirms no
`features` / `not_supported_features` overlap
- `shell-dashboard`: production build ✓, **68 test files / 1333 tests
passed**, 1 skipped
- `harness`: `tsc --noEmit` clean; **171 test files / 3625 tests
passed**. 3 pre-existing failures
(`d5-mapping-drift`, `frontend-matrix`, `d5-representatives` — the last
complains about
`browser-use-smoke`) fail **identically on clean `origin/main`**,
verified by stashing this diff and
re-running. Unrelated to this change.
- Diff is 3 files, no lockfile churn, no generated artifacts, no stray
worktree files.
## Deliberately not done
- Not implementing the feature for either integration (the upstream
conversion for llamaindex and the
vision crew for crewai-crews remain open work).
- Not touching `agno` / `mastra` / `ms-agent-python` / `built-in-agent`,
whose multimodal cells are red for
four unrelated reasons and stay red here.
- Not loosening the D5 assertion, not dropping `skipSend`, not deleting
the cell, not skipping the probe,
and not special-casing the probe to pass — every one of those would
green a broken cell.
## Follow-up commit: CI-caught wired-count bound
The first push failed **Showcase: Validate** -> "Run build pipeline
tests" (the `showcase/scripts` vitest,
which I had not run locally — my mistake; the harness and dashboard
suites both passed):
```
FAIL __tests__/generate-catalog.test.ts > parity tier: crewai-crews wired cells render
at_parity or partial against the elected reference
AssertionError: expected 29 to be greater than or equal to 30
❯ __tests__/generate-catalog.test.ts:257:32
```
Real and caused by this PR: reclassifying `crewai-crews/multimodal` from
`wired` to `unsupported` drops that
integration's wired-cell count 30 -> 29.
That `30` is a **snapshot floor, not an invariant** — the assertion's
own comment states the partial parity
tier requires only `intersection >= 3` with the reference's wired set.
29 clears that by a wide margin, and
the two tier assertions immediately below it (`parity_tier` in
`["at_parity","partial"]`, uniform across the
column) still pass untouched. So the floor was updated to 29 with a
comment recording exactly which cell
moved and why, rather than being deleted or loosened to a no-op.
Nothing else in that suite moved: `metadata.total_cells` is still 980
and the
`wired + stub + unshipped + unsupported == total_cells` sum invariant
still holds (686 + 0 + 198 + 96 = 980).
Re-run locally after the fix: **72 test files / 2323 tests passed, 0
failed.**
`oxfmt --check` and `oxlint` clean on the changed test file.
14 integrations' `src/app/demos/layout.tsx` hardcoded "LangChain - Python"
in `generateMetadata` — a copy-paste leftover from langgraph-python, which
the file was cloned from. Every `/demos/*` page in mastra, strands, ag2,
agno and 10 others rendered `<title>LangChain - Python</title>`.
Each now uses the display name from its own `manifest.yaml` `name:` field,
matching the convention the already-correct integrations use
(langgraph-typescript -> "LangGraph (TypeScript)", strands-typescript ->
"AWS Strands (TypeScript)").
langgraph-python itself is included: its manifest name and root layout both
say "LangGraph (Python)", so "LangChain - Python" (the legacy Notion
partner-column label) was stale there too.
Attachments (`multimodal`) has never worked on either integration, and both
manifests were over-claiming it under `features`, so the D5/D6 probe correctly
reported red — a red chip that read as "this regressed" when the truth is "this
was never built".
Use the repo's existing unsupported mechanism — `not_supported_features` in the
integration manifest, which `determineCellStatus`
(showcase/harness/src/shared/catalog/catalog-flatten.ts:239) folds to
`status: "unsupported"` -> `isSupported: false` -> the `UNSUPPORTED` CellModel
(gray, `supported: false`, 🚫). Both cells now render as genuinely unsupported:
not green (no false claim of working) and not red (no false claim of
regression). Each entry carries an inline note recording WHY, so a future reader
does not mistake it for an oversight.
- llamaindex: upstream gap in `llama-index-protocols-ag-ui==0.2.2`
(`utils.py:82-85` passes AG-UI content parts straight into `ChatMessage`,
which rejects them on the `block_type` discriminator).
- crewai-crews: never implemented on our side — `src/agent_server.py` registers
no `/multimodal` route, so the demo route aliases the generic crew and fails.
Also corrects the llamaindex `multimodal_agent.py` docstring, which asserted a
normalization the upstream router does not perform.
Demo entries stay wired on both, matching every other `not_supported_features`
entry in these manifests.
A fleet-wide sweep for sync LLM .create() calls running directly inside an
async def on the uvicorn event loop found three more wedge sites (same class
as the claude-sdk-python fix in this PR):
- integrations/ag2/src/agents/beautiful_chat.py
- integrations/llamaindex/src/agents/a2ui_dynamic.py
- integrations/llamaindex/src/agents/agent.py (missed by the original report)
Each extracts the blocking secondary-LLM round-trip into a sync _generate_a2ui
helper and offloads it via await asyncio.to_thread(...) from the async
generate_a2ui wrapper (lowest blast radius; sync body unchanged). ag2's other
agents already use AsyncOpenAI; all other sync .create sites are inside plain
def framework tools dispatched off-loop by their frameworks, so they do not
wedge. entrypoint.sh alert-scoping left untouched (claude-sdk-python-specific).
Adds a dev-only OpenAI-SDK repro harness (slow_openai.py, prod_server_openai.py,
run_prod_openai.sh) that drives the REAL production _generate_a2ui via a slow
local OpenAI-compatible endpoint, with a tool_dispatch_fired>=1 anti-false-green
guard. RED (sync-on-loop) -> GREEN (to_thread) verified for all three sites.
Restore the 12 Python integration tools/ dirs to symlinks into
shared/python/tools. They had eroded to real, drifting copies via an
accidental stage_shared() leak (commit 534cd1efa7) — the structural root
cause of showcase divergence bugs. Symlinking re-establishes the single
source of truth; content is identical to shared (only render_a2ui naming
and the shared roll_dice/sanitize additions are adopted).
Add showcase/AGENTS.md documenting the 4 iron rules and the single-source
symlink mechanism, plus a validate-shared-symlinks CI guard (shrink-only
baseline) that fails on any NEW erosion.
Gates per-request POST + 2xx Response-status + GET health-probe logs behind SHOWCASE_ROUTE_DEBUG across 19 integrations to stay under Railway's 500-logs/sec cap, while logging non-2xx responses unconditionally so production errors stay visible.
The ADD-2 block suppresses the streamed TOOL_CALL_CHUNK for all frontend
tools, relying on the bare snapshot's ag_ui_tool_calls to deliver the call
(emitting both doubles the args and breaks scheduleTime / pie-bar
useComponent). But the open-generative-ui runtime middleware builds the
sandboxed iframe exclusively from streamed TOOL_CALL_* events and never
reads the snapshot, so open-gen-ui and open-gen-ui-advanced rendered 0
iframes.
Add a name-scoped exemption that streams the chunk only for
generateSandboxedUi, keeping snapshot-only delivery for every other
frontend tool. The exemption is intentionally narrow to preserve the
double-args fix.
Red->green (D6, --direct, real Docker page):
- open-gen-ui: RED "saw 0 iframe(s), longest srcdoc=0" -> GREEN (iframe + srcdoc)
- open-gen-ui-advanced: RED "selector cascade matched 0 elements" -> GREEN
Regression (all still green): beautiful-chat 5/5 (toggle-theme, pie-chart,
bar-chart, search-flights, schedule-meeting), agentic-chat, mcp-apps.

The no-tools branch of ReasoningAGUIChatWorkflow.chat streams the answer via
astream_chat over OpenAIResponses, which (unlike astream_chat_with_tools on the
tools branch and the GREEN tool_rendering_reasoning_chain_agent) does not
accumulate resp.delta back onto the terminal resp.message.content. The
content-empty message was then snapshotted into MESSAGES_SNAPSHOT, clobbering
the ~284-char streamed answer and rendering an empty assistant bubble
(reasoning-display failed text-unstable: reasoning block painted, answer gone).
Accumulate the streamed text deltas in the no-tools path only (track_text =
not tools) and fold them onto resp.message before _finalize_chat snapshots it.
Strictly additive: only fills a message the stream left empty, never overwrites
content the LLM already accumulated, and is inert when tools are present so the
tools branch / reasoning-chain agent are untouched.

Same root cause as the sibling declarative-gen-ui (A2UI Dynamic Schema) fix:
the A2UI middleware mounts the surface from a STREAMED render-tool CALL whose
name is in its watched set, not from a TOOL_CALL_RESULT. The prior approach had
display_flight return an a2ui_operations container in the tool RESULT, which the
llama-index AG-UI adapter only re-emits via MESSAGES_SNAPSHOT — a shape the
middleware never inspects — so the flight-card surface stayed unmounted
(reason=surface-missing; the a2ui-fixed-card testid never appeared).
- route.ts: set a2ui.injectA2UITool: true so the middleware watches render_a2ui.
- a2ui_fixed.py: display_flight now returns the fixed-schema render_a2ui args
(surfaceId/catalogId/components/data) as JSON; a workflow override
(_A2UIRenderToolCallWorkflow) parses each backend tool result and re-emits it
as a streamed render_a2ui tool-CALL (TOOL_CALL_START name=render_a2ui ->
chunked TOOL_CALL_ARGS carrying the components+data JSON -> TOOL_CALL_END),
mirroring how google-adk drives the middleware. These events are already in
the upstream AG_UI_EVENTS allow-list the SSE router streams against.
Backend still produces the pre-authored flight schema (no stub). Only
display_flight (one backend tool, name unchanged) is involved, so the d6 fixture
needs no re-keying. Integration-code only; no shared/@ag-ui package touched.

The render re-emit override had three silent failure paths: a non-JSON tool
output (broad except swallowing TypeError/ValueError), the {"error": ...} dict
from generate_a2ui's no-tool-call branch, and a valid-JSON result missing
components. Each produced a blank UI with no diagnostic trail. Narrow the parse
except to json.JSONDecodeError (guarding that content is a str) and log a
contextual warning on each path. Happy path unchanged.

The inlined planner SYSTEM_PROMPT listed every A2UI catalog component except
DataTable, even though the TS catalog and a team-performance suggestion pill
target a DataTable surface. Since the planner is a separate OpenAI call driven
solely by this hardcoded prompt (it never sees the TS Zod schema), DataTable
emission was unreliable. Add DataTable to the catalog list, mirroring the TS
definition (columns/rows shape) and the other entries' wording.

The page header still described the runtime as configured with
`injectA2UITool: false` and the backend agent as owning `generate_a2ui`,
mirroring beautiful-chat. This PR inverted the route to
`injectA2UITool: true`, so the comment was stale. Rewrite the step-3 block
to describe the current mechanism: `injectA2UITool: true` populates the A2UI
middleware's watched-names set, which mounts the surface from a STREAMED
`render_a2ui` tool-call the agent re-emits via its `aggregate_tool_calls`
override in a2ui_dynamic.py. Drops the stale generate_a2ui framing and
matches the accurate header in route.ts.

The InfoRow renderer was the only catalog component missing a
data-testid. The top-account pill's _design_a2ui_surface leg emits
7 InfoRow facts + a PieChart, and the d5-gen-ui-declarative probe
asserts declarative-info-row (minCount 1) as top-account's
distinguishing testid. Because the renderer never painted that
testid, the completeOnMount gate (whose surfaceTestIds include
declarative-info-row) never observed a mount, the turn never
completed, and the run reported reason=surface-missing. Every other
pill passed because its distinguishing testid (metric / status-badge /
data-table) was already emitted.
The A2UI middleware mounts the surface from a STREAMED render-tool CALL whose
name is in its watched set, not from a TOOL_CALL_RESULT. The prior approach
emitted a TOOL_CALL_RESULT carrying an a2ui_operations container, which the
middleware never inspects, so the surface stayed unmounted (surface-missing).
- route.ts: set a2ui.injectA2UITool: true so the middleware watches render_a2ui.
- a2ui_dynamic.py: generate_a2ui now returns the planner's render_a2ui args
(surfaceId/catalogId/components/data) as JSON; the workflow override
(_A2UIRenderToolCallWorkflow) parses each backend tool result and re-emits it
as a streamed render_a2ui tool-CALL (TOOL_CALL_START name=render_a2ui →
chunked TOOL_CALL_ARGS carrying the components JSON → TOOL_CALL_END), mirroring
how google-adk drives the middleware. These events are already in the upstream
AG_UI_EVENTS allow-list the SSE router streams against.
Backend still produces the components (no stub). Inner planner tool stays
_design_a2ui_surface, so the d6 fixture needs no re-keying.
The llamaindex copilotkit API route logged '[copilotkit/route] POST ...'
and '[copilotkit/route] Response status: 200' unconditionally on EVERY
request. Under d6 probe fan-out this exceeded Railway's 500-logs/sec cap
('Messages dropped' -> 'Stopping Container'), killing the replica.
Gate both per-request console.log lines behind a SHOWCASE_ROUTE_DEBUG env
flag (default off). Module-load logs and error logging are unchanged.
This chatty pattern is shared/copied across ~16 integrations (including
the langgraph-python gold standard); this commit scopes the fix to
llamaindex. The others are flagged as follow-up.
The auth demo capped at D4 across integrations because the post-sign-out
rejection banner never rendered. The post-sign-out `agent_run_failed` is
delivered only on the agent-scoped `<CopilotChat onError>` channel — never the
provider-level `<CopilotKit onError>` the demos listened on — so the D5/D6 auth
probe's rejection-surface assertion failed and the cell was capped at D4.
Fix (applied to all 19 integrations whose auth demo reproduced the bug): wire a
stable `handleAuthError` onto the agent-scoped `<CopilotChat onError>` (keeping
the provider handler), key the error surface off auth-error STATE alone with a
clear-on-auth effect (removing the `&& !isAuthenticated` cross-slice race), and
harden the rejection-banner message fallback against nullish error events.
Scope: 19 of 20 integrations. built-in-agent already passes (renders via its
ChatErrorBoundary); claude-sdk-python adapted to its legacy/error-boundary shape.
Bump the canonical CopilotKit pin across all showcase integrations + shell
to 1.61.2 (canonical-pins.json, every package.json + package-lock.json),
which carries CopilotKit#5611: passing a catalog to the provider
(`<CopilotKit a2ui={{ catalog }}>`) now auto-enables A2UI and defaults tool
injection on, so the runtime no longer needs an explicit `a2ui` config.
Demonstrate the feature on the A2UI dynamic (declarative-gen-ui) demos by
removing the now-redundant runtime `a2ui` block (`injectA2UITool: true` +
`defaultCatalogId`) from:
- langgraph-python, langgraph-fastapi, langgraph-typescript
- strands, strands-typescript
- google-adk
The forwarded catalog supplies its own catalogId (sdk-js A2UI middleware
auto-derives `defaultCatalogId` from it), so the previous "Catalog not found"
fallback no longer applies.
Verified: validate-pins drift ratchet unchanged (38 / same hash);
langgraph-python D6 `gen-ui-declarative` green end-to-end (no Catalog-not-found).
Bump every @copilotkit/* dependency across the showcase integrations and
the shell from 1.60.2 (and stray "latest" override pins) to an exact
1.61.1 pin, and move the canonical pin source of truth to match.
Regenerate each standalone npm package-lock.json with the same
--legacy-peer-deps flag the Dockerfiles use for "npm ci".
- showcase/integrations/*/package.json + package-lock.json
- showcase/integrations/langgraph-typescript/src/agent/*
- showcase/shell/package.json + package-lock.json
- showcase/scripts/showcase-canonical-pins.json: canonical 1.60.2 to 1.61.1
aimock stays on its own version line (1.26.1). The Python copilotkit SDK
was already 0.1.94 across every requirements.txt, so no change there.
validate-pins ratchet is unchanged (FAIL=38, identical hash);
validate-parity, validate-fixture-tool-surface, and the showcase/scripts
vitest suite (2102 tests) all pass.
The LlamaIndex AG-UI adapter never forwarded RunAgentInput.tools, so
page-injected frontend tools (useFrontendTool / useComponent /
useHumanInTheLoop) were invisible to the LLM — runs the model couldn't
satisfy ended in RUN_ERROR (no RUN_FINISHED), which the harness reported
as sse-missing.
New RequestAwareAGUIChatWorkflow re-implements the chat step as the
upstream body plus three additions: forward RunAgentInput.tools as no-op
FunctionTool stubs carrying the verbatim injected JSON schema; re-role
tool-result messages to role="tool" on the LLM-bound message copy only
(so the hasToolResult second-leg fixture matches) without mutating
stored/snapshot history; and for frontend tool calls dispatch the
ToolCallEvent but skip the duplicate TOOL_CALL_CHUNK (the bare snapshot
already delivers the call). beautiful-chat 0/5 -> 5/5; mcp-apps fixed.
Aligns dependency versions across all 19 showcase integrations to current
released minor versions for the 1.60.2 release cycle.
Package families:
- @copilotkit/{a2ui-renderer, react-core, react-ui, runtime, shared, sdk-js, voice}
1.59.4 -> 1.60.2 (18 integrations already staged; ms-agent-harness-dotnet
catches up from 1.57.2)
- @ag-ui/{client, core, encoder} 0.0.55 -> 0.0.57
- @ag-ui/mastra 0.2.1-beta.2 -> 0.2.4 (stable on 0.x; 1.0.x major held back)
Includes the previously-missed ms-agent-harness-dotnet integration in the
@copilotkit/* bump, plus the @copilotkit/web-inspector override pin.
Lockfile-only reconciliation via npm install --package-lock-only
--legacy-peer-deps (cmdk@0.2.1 pre-existing react^18 peer-dep is unaffected).
Each integration's interrupt-headless demo defines a local useHeadlessInterrupt
hook around the framework useInterrupt. Slot-2 originally identified 8
quarantined integrations (claude-sdk-typescript, langgraph-{fastapi,python,
typescript}, langroid, pydantic-ai, spring-ai, strands); review-round
follow-ups extended the sweep to llamaindex, mastra, ag2, agno, and
crewai-crews (5 more integrations sharing the same byte-identical hook).
The demo-local resolve() previously fire-and-forgot copilotkit.runAgent(...)
via `void runAgent(...).catch(() => {})`. Mirroring the framework fix:
- Make resolve async, return await copilotkit.runAgent(...).
- Use a pendingRef so resolve has stable identity (drop pending from
useMemo deps).
- Type signature: resolve: (response: unknown) => Promise<unknown>.
- Wrap in try/catch + setPending(null) + console.error + rethrow,
symmetric with the framework hook.
- onRunFailed also setPending(null).
13 integrations patched byte-identically.
The injected render_a2ui tool guide instructs models to omit catalogId
("the catalog id is set by the host"), and backend-owned generate_a2ui
tools see real models omit or late-stream it. Without defaultCatalogId
the a2ui middleware falls back to the spec basic catalog, which no
showcase page registers — surfaces fail with "Catalog not found:
https://a2ui.org/specification/v0_9/basic_catalog.json" (reported on
beautiful-chat / langgraph-python).
Pin each route to the catalog its page registers: beautiful-chat ->
copilotkit://app-dashboard-catalog, declarative-gen-ui ->
declarative-gen-ui-catalog. Routes with no a2ui block never attach the
middleware and are left untouched.

Annotates 14 integration manifests with d6_not_supported_features entries
and aligns d6_supported_features with what each backend actually implements,
so the D6 fleet probe only enumerates demos that the backend can serve.
llamaindex, agno, and claude-sdk-python emit AG-UI REASONING_MESSAGE_*
events but pinned @ag-ui/client ^0.0.43, whose @ag-ui/core discriminated
union lacks the REASONING_MESSAGE_* variants — the frontend threw
invalid_union_discriminator and the reasoning demo broke. Pin all three
to exact 0.0.48 (matching the claude-sdk-typescript fix in #5323),
regenerate their lockfiles so @ag-ui/core resolves to 0.0.48 with zero
0.0.43 nodes, and ratchet the validate-pins drift baseline down from 60
to 57 to reflect the now-exact pins. Verified locally on the built-image
showcase rig: D5 green and the D6 reasoning-display probe passes for all
three backends with zero invalid_union_discriminator.
