Maxim f8e13e675c Remove the banking showcase in favor of reskinnable-demo (#6683)
## What

Sunsets `examples/showcases/banking`. It is superseded by
`examples/showcases/reskinnable-demo`, which ships the same banking
experience as one of its runtime-swappable skins (alongside airline) on
top of a shared shell. Keeping both means maintaining two copies of the
same demo.

160 files deleted, plus the five places that pointed at the app:

| File | Change |
| --- | --- |
| `pnpm-workspace.yaml` | Drops the workspace entry. Also fixes the
adjacent NOTE, which attributed the canary AG-UI pin to "banking's
agent" when it is reskinnable-demo's own Python deep agent that needs
it. |
| `pnpm-lock.yaml` | Regenerated (−919/+12). The 12 additions are
peer-suffix re-keying caused by removing the importer — banking pinned a
different `eslint`/`vitest` peer combination. No dependency version
changes. |
| `examples/README.md` | The banking row becomes a reskinnable-demo row,
so the successor is listed and the showcase count is unchanged. |
| `showcase/shell-docs/src/content/docs/faq.mdx` | The "Banking
Assistant" link retargets to reskinnable-demo instead of 404ing. |
| `.github/config-allowlist.txt` | Drops the deleted `next.config.mjs`.
|

Note that banking was a real pnpm workspace member using `workspace:*`
deps, unlike reskinnable-demo, which sits deliberately outside the
workspace with its own lockfile. That is why the root lockfile has to be
regenerated here.

## Deliberately not changed

- `scripts/migrate-demos.sh` and `scripts/archive-demo-repos.sh` still
name `examples/showcases/banking`. Those are the already-executed
one-shot manifests for the repo consolidation; the path is a historical
record in them, not a live reference.
- `reskinnable-demo`'s `.env.example` and `docker-compose.yml` still
explain their +200 port offset in terms of banking's stack. The offset
stays real, and "was cloned from banking" stays true.
- The `banking` mentions in `test_reskinnable-demo.yml` refer to
reskinnable-demo's **banking skin**, not this app.

## Verification

- `.github/scripts/check-config-allowlist.sh` passes.
- A full `pnpm install` agrees with the regenerated lockfile (no further
diff).
- The lockfile-only regen and the full install produce identical output.

The `test-and-check-packages` pre-commit hook fires on any
`pnpm-lock.yaml` change, so it ran `test,publint,attw` across all 25
packages. Four suites failed locally — `sqlite-runner`, `web-inspector`,
`vue`, `react-core` — in a worktree installed with `--ignore-scripts`,
which skips `better-sqlite3`'s native build. This change touches no
package source, so CI is the gate on those; please confirm they are
green here before merging.

Maxim e3dafff825 chore(examples): remove banking showcase in favor of reskinnable-demo
The banking showcase is superseded by `examples/showcases/reskinnable-demo`,
which ships the same banking experience as one of its runtime-swappable skins
(alongside airline) on top of a shared shell. Keeping both means maintaining
two copies of the same demo, so banking is sunset here.

Removes the app and the things that referenced it:

- `pnpm-workspace.yaml` — drops the workspace entry. Also fixes the adjacent
  NOTE, which attributed the canary AG-UI pin to "banking's agent" when it is
  reskinnable-demo's own Python deep agent that needs it.
- `pnpm-lock.yaml` — regenerated. Only the removed importer and the peer-suffix
  re-keying it caused; no dependency version changes.
- `examples/README.md` — the banking row becomes a reskinnable-demo row, so the
  successor is listed and the showcase count is unchanged.
- `showcase/shell-docs/.../faq.mdx` — the Banking Assistant link retargets to
  reskinnable-demo instead of 404ing.
- `.github/config-allowlist.txt` — drops the deleted `next.config.mjs`.

Not changed: `scripts/migrate-demos.sh` and `scripts/archive-demo-repos.sh`
still name `examples/showcases/banking`. Those are the already-executed one-shot
manifests for the repo consolidation; the path is a historical record there, not
a live reference. reskinnable-demo's `.env.example` and `docker-compose.yml`
likewise still explain their +200 port offset in terms of banking's stack — the
offset stays real, and "was cloned from banking" stays true.

Alem Tuzlak ba4260ad66 feat(web-inspector): add Event Snippets and save-as-snippet (#6649)
Open Inspector Event Snippets on localhost. You can compile, save, and
replay AG-UI events in chat. Chat shows a bookmark icon next to a tool
call, an A2UI block, or generative UI. Click the icon to save that turn
as a snippet.

## What does this PR do?

This PR adds the Inspector Event Snippets pane.

You can:

- Compile a snippet from a recipe (tool-call, reasoning, text, activity,
raw)
- Save snippets in origin-scoped localStorage
(`cpk:inspector:event-snippets`)
- Import and export snippets from the pane header
- Replay a snippet into live chat through Inspector-only Core inject

Each Run remints `messageId`, `parentMessageId`, `toolCallId`, and
`runId`. The second Run of the same snippet is a new turn.

On localhost, chat shows a bookmark icon beside a tool call, A2UI block,
or generative UI. The icon is absolutely positioned. It hangs to the
right when there is room. Otherwise it hangs to the left. The card stays
full chat width.

The React demo adds `sayHello`, `getTime`, `addNumbers`, and a **Call 3
tools** suggestion.

## Testing

### Commands run

1. Lefthook pre-commit ran `nx` targets `test`, `publint`, and `attw`
for 27 affected projects. All passed.
2. I did not run `pnpm test:pr` (full repo). Lefthook ran the affected
package matrix only.

### Manual test

1. Run `pnpm demo:react` from the repo root.
2. Open http://localhost:3000
3. Open Inspector and select Event Snippets.
4. In chat, click **Call 3 tools**. Confirm three tool cards at full
chat width, with the bookmark hanging outside the card.
5. Click a bookmark, then click Run twice. Chat shows a second turn with
new IDs.

### How this PR makes testing easy

- `packages/web-inspector/src/lib/__tests__/event-snippets.test.ts`
- `packages/core/src/__tests__/inspect-inject.test.ts` (covers two
injects)
- React demo: `examples/v2/react/demo/src/app/page.tsx`

## Risk / rollback

- If ID remint is wrong, a second Run can no-op or duplicate a turn.
- The save icon shows on localhost Inspector (or when `showDevConsole`
is `true`).

## Public API change

**Before**

Angular has no Inspector service.

```ts
// no CopilotInspector export from @copilotkit/angular
```

**After**

```ts
import { CopilotInspector } from "@copilotkit/angular";
const inspector = inject(CopilotInspector);
inspector.openInspector({
  messageId: "msg-1",
  menu: "event-snippets",
});
```

React and Vue apps that already mount Inspector on localhost need no new
caller code. Chat wires the bookmark through Inspector context.

`@copilotkit/core` exports `ɵinjectInspectorEvents` for Inspector only.
App code must not call it. There is no public Core emit API.

Benjamin Taylor 1d9f19713a fix(runtime): ship the @types packages our public declarations depend on
dist/v2/runtime/endpoints/express.d.cts imports types from `cors` and `express`.
Neither ships its own declarations, and both @types packages were devDependencies,
so whether a consumer resolved them came down to whether something else in their
tree happened to hoist them.

Moving them to dependencies makes the published types self-contained.

Maxim 0163beab8e feat(reskinnable-demo): stream the harness into a CLI console via AG-UI subagents
Makes the offsite-expenses beat legible while it runs, and gives it its own
model, by taking the AG-UI subagent surface from the canary line.

## The expense analyst is now a real subagent

    banking                       gpt-5.4, temp 0
      │ banking's prompt; browser frontend tools; Intelligence memory tools
      └─ expense-analyst          gpt-5.6-sol, reasoning_effort=high
           │  sandboxed shell, submit_expense_report
           └─ merchant-researcher gpt-5.4, one per merchant, Tavily

Previously the beat was a section of banking's prompt, which left nowhere to put
per-beat configuration: model, effort and recursion limit are all agent-level and
there was one agent. It also meant banking's ~21,000-character rulebook rode
every one of the ~20 model calls the run makes, re-sending rules about markdown
tables while the agent read a CSV.

Reached as a `CompiledSubAgent` because a raw `SubAgent` spec has no `subagents`
field and this one needs its own — the per-merchant fan-out is a headline of the
beat, and a flat subagent could only research serially. Verified nesting
survives: a probe showed the analyst's `task` dispatches, the researchers'
`search_merchant` calls and the final report tool all reaching `astream_events`.

`gpt-5.6-sol` additionally needs `use_responses_api=True`: with function tools
and `reasoning_effort` it 400s on /v1/chat/completions. The first probe missed
that by asking the model a question with NO tools bound — a model probe for an
agent has to bind one.

## The console: one CLI window, streaming

`shell/subagents/subagent-activity.tsx` subscribes to the agent's event stream
and folds it into console lines. Reading `agent.messages` (the previous design)
was wrong twice over: messages materialise at the `MESSAGES_SNAPSHOT`, two per
run, so the pane sat still for minutes and then filled at once; and persisted
messages carry no `subagentRunId`, so the harness's narration could not be told
from banking's own reply.

The fold is pure and idempotent — every line keyed by the id of the thing that
produced it — so the same code serves the live subscription and a replay of the
thread's stored events when a conversation is reopened.

Three heuristics are deleted, each replaced by identity the protocol already
carried:

- the console's "first tool call" anchor -> the run's first `task` call, from
                                                 MESSAGE order (durable; the
                                                 event-derived version rendered
                                                 one console per delegation on a
                                                 restored thread — six, measured)
- `CONSOLE_TOOL_NAMES` suppression list       -> `subagentRunId` presence
- `disable_streaming` on the researchers      -> the canary's per-lane state

`shell/subagents/subagent-message-filter.tsx` keeps subagent narration out of the
conversation. It suppresses the PROSE and keeps the TOOL CALLS: an agent
routinely narrates and calls a tool in one message, and returning null for the
whole message hid the REPORT CARD — the run looked perfect and ended with nothing
to show. Shell-level and inert for a skin whose agent has no subagents.

## Canary stack, contained to this app

The subagent surface only exists on the canary line, and a released
`@ag-ui/client` <= 0.0.57 rejects `SUBAGENT_*` events in the HTTP transport
before any middleware runs, killing the stream. So the demo leaves the root pnpm
workspace and ships its own lockfile, pinning `@copilotkit/* 1.68.3-canary` and
`@ag-ui/* 0.0.59-canary` locally instead of imposing an unreleased protocol on
every package in the monorepo.

A 1.62.2-based canary was tried first and could not compile the app: it silently
rewound the CopilotKit API five minors under a demo written against 1.67.1, and
`OpenGenerativeUIActivityRenderer` (a public `/v2` export since ~1.63) was the
first thing to break. `workspace:*` is not a version, so the app had no recorded
lower bound on the API it needs.

KNOWN GAP, deliberately not fixed here: Nx discovers projects THROUGH the pnpm
workspace (there is no `workspaceLayout` in `nx.json`), so leaving it also
removes the demo from the repo-wide `nx run-many -t build` and `-t check-types`
sweeps. Verified — `nx show project deep-agents` and the other standalone
showcases return "Could not find project". No workflow names this demo, so it is
currently unbuilt and untype-checked in CI and needs its own job. Run the four
gates locally until that lands. Documented in `pnpm-workspace.yaml`.

## Fixes

- The run clock is keyed per run and read through an injected `ToolRuntime`
  instead of taking the oldest open stamp across the process. Model calls AFTER
  the report re-stamped the clock and that leftover became the next run's start:
  a two-minute run reported 333s. Now 86s reported against 98s wall clock — the
  gap is thread-naming and delegation, before the analyst's first model call,
  which is what the tile claims to measure.
- `merchantKind` non-answers are rejected on the leading token, on hedging
  language, and over 40 characters. With no search tool the model wrote a bare
  "unclear"; with Tavily live it hedges in prose ("unknown (likely
  bookbindery/bookshop retail, but not established for this exact merchant)"),
  which an exact-match filter passed into a 60-character label glued to the
  merchant name.
- `vitest` no longer externalises `@copilotkit/*`. Installing them from npm moved
  `src/app/layout.tsx`'s stylesheet import under `node_modules/.pnpm/`, where
  Node's ESM loader threw `Unknown file extension ".css"` and took out 16 suites
  while naming a stylesheet nobody had touched.
- `agent/main.py` reads the demo's `.env` as well as its own, so `TAVILY_API_KEY`
  works wherever an operator puts it. Two env files to keep in sync is a trap
  whose failure mode is "the agent ignores a key that is plainly sitting in .env".

## Upstream finding (reported separately, not fixed here)

`@copilotkit/runtime` drops `subagentRunId` when persisting messages: 2888 of
3026 stream events carry it, 0 of 53 persisted messages do. Reproduced with
Intelligence removed entirely, so it is the runtime's message shape rather than
the platform store — and `@copilotkit/runtime`'s dist contains no occurrence of
the field at all, while `@ag-ui/core`, `ag-ui-protocol` and `@copilotkit/core`
all model it. One field threaded through would let the console rebuild from
message history and delete the event-replay seeding added here.

`CLAUDE.md`'s appended block is generated by `next dev`
(`next/dist/server/lib/generate-agent-files.js`) and committed per its own
instruction to keep the tree clean.

Gates: lint 0, typecheck 0, test:unit 2460 passed across 216 files, build 0.
Measured end to end in Intelligence mode: 14 rows, 9 merchants researched, 6
charges filed with ids read out of real 201 bodies, totals reconciling against
their own rows, 3220 events with 6 SUBAGENT_STARTED/FINISHED pairs.

Maxim a6418bcc09 feat(reskinnable-demo): run the offsite-expenses beat on a LangChain deep agent
Replaces the Codex CLI subprocess with a Python LangChain deep agent
(`examples/showcases/reskinnable-demo/agent/`) reached over AG-UI: sandboxed
shell execution via deepagents' `LocalShellBackend`, parallel per-merchant
research subagents, no external harness binary, and our own API key.

Registered as `banking-expenses` in the server agent registry. That required
widening `AgentRegistration.createAgent` from `() => BuiltInAgent` to
`() => AbstractAgent` — the runtime's own `agents` option is
`Record<string, AbstractAgent>` and the v2 tree contains no
`instanceof BuiltInAgent` branch, so the demo's type was stricter than the
runtime it described.

Measured end to end against the real runtime: 58 `execute` calls, 7 concurrent
`task` subagents (peak concurrency 4/4 on a dedicated probe), RUN_FINISHED,
eight charges filed with ids read out of real 201 bodies, and 8221 replayable
AG-UI events persisted on the thread after the client disconnected 8s in.

Correctness fixes found by running it rather than reading it:
- `submit_expense_report` DERIVES the totals from the verdicts instead of
  accepting them as arguments. A measured run had every per-row amount matching
  the CSV while the headline totals came back $1.00 and $0.20 high — the model
  authored them. The report card prints the total directly above the rows it is
  the sum of, so tiles and rows must not be able to disagree.
- `amount` is coerced at the tool boundary; it arrived as a string on all 14
  rows, which silently defeats the widget's currency formatting.
- `merchantKind` values that are non-answers ("unclear") are dropped rather than
  rendered beside the merchant name as if they were findings.
- The recursion limit is set on the AGENT, not via `graph.with_config(...)`,
  which the AG-UI adapter drops — the run completed the whole analysis and then
  died at LangGraph's default of 25 supersteps.
- A `clone()` override works around `copilotkit` 0.1.95 being incompatible with
  `ag-ui-langgraph` >= 0.0.42, whose base `clone()` (called per request) passes
  kwargs the SDK subclass does not accept. Every request 500s without it.

Deletes the superseded Node-side harness scaffolding: `prompt.ts` (the task
specification now lives in the Python agent's system prompt), `workspace.ts`
(the sandbox owns the workspace) and their tests. `types.ts` stays — it is the
shared vocabulary the report card and the tool renderer both import.

Also drops the three unused `@tanstack/*` dependencies.

Reskin-skill impact: checked. `.claude/skills/reskin/` documents the `Skin`
contract, and no field of it changed — `banking-expenses` is NOT a skin and must
never look like one. It is absent from `registry.ts`, `skinIds`,
`skinIdentities` and `LINTED_SKIN_IDS`, and has no route, theme or identity. The
one documented thing that did change is `AgentRegistration.createAgent`'s type,
which SKILL.md describes in its registration section; that is updated in the
follow-up commit that makes banking itself a deep agent.

Gates: lint 0, typecheck 0, test:unit 2458 passed across 217 files, build 0.

Alem Tuzlak 47ad5e34a3 refactor(react-native)!: converge tool-call rendering onto CopilotKit's shared registry (#6438)
## What does this PR do?

`@copilotkit/react-native` maintained a **private tool-call render
registry** (`hooks/RenderToolContext.tsx`) alongside the canonical one
that `CopilotKitCoreReact` already provides — and which every React
Native app already ships, unused. This PR deletes the fork and points
React Native at the shared registry.

That fork caused three bugs:

| Bug | Symptom | Cause |
|---|---|---|
| **Tool renders never streamed** | A component registered with
`useRenderTool` / `useComponent` painted nothing until the tool call
completed | `CopilotChat` used `JSON.parse` on the argument buffer.
While a model writes a tool call that buffer is *invalid JSON by design*
— AG-UI delivers `TOOL_CALL_ARGS` deltas that are concatenated
client-side — so the parse threw on every delta, warned, and fell back
to `{}` |
| **`useComponent` rendered nowhere** | Silently, with no error | It
writes to core's registry; React Native's chat read React Native's
private `Map` |
| **Chat history degraded** | Navigating away from the registering
screen turned earlier tool calls into a `Called: <name>` placeholder |
The private `Map` deleted renderers on unmount; core deliberately keeps
them |

`@copilotkit/react-core` has used `partialJSONParse` on this path since
v2 shipped. React Native diverged because `useRenderToolCall` was
excluded from its re-exports on the stated grounds that it "depends on
DOM elements via `DefaultToolCallRenderer`" — a claim that was never
true of the hook itself. It was only ever reachable through the fat
`/v2` entry, whose weight is the real hazard (#4893). #5883 moved it
into `/v2/headless` on 2026-07-23; the exclusion comment was rewritten
the next day without revisiting the reason.

### What changed

- **One registry.** `useRenderTool` registers through `useFrontendTool`
into `CopilotKitCoreReact.renderToolCalls`. `CopilotChat` and any custom
surface consume react-core's `useRenderToolCall`.
- **Types are derived, not declared.** `RenderToolProps` is now
`React.ComponentProps<ReactToolCallRenderer<T>["render"]>`, so React
Native cannot drift from `ReactToolCallRenderer` — the contract every
registered renderer is actually invoked against. Change that contract
and `check-types` names every React Native renderer the change breaks.
React Native narrows only the *return* type to `ReactElement | null`,
which `FlatList`'s `renderItem` genuinely requires.
_Scope of that guarantee (corrected during review):_ it does **not**
extend to the type react-core publicly exports under the same name.
Web's `RenderToolProps<S>`
(`react-core/src/v2/hooks/use-render-tool.tsx`) is a separate
hand-declared union, generic over a schema, carrying arguments under
`parameters` (not `args`) and declaring `status` as string literals
rather than `ToolCallStatus` members. Both divergences are live today
and nothing type-checks them shut — the one place the shapes meet,
react-core's own bridge, compiles because a string-enum member is
assignable to its own literal type but not the reverse. Aligning web's
alias is a breaking web API change, filed separately.
- **`RenderToolContext.tsx` deleted** (−150 lines), along with 15 tests
that described the removed subsystem. One of them — `unregisters the
render function on unmount` — asserted the chat-history bug as a
requirement.
- **Two structural CI guards for #4893**, in opposite directions: a test
failing if any React Native source imports the fat `/v2` entry, and a
script failing if react-core's `/v2/headless` or `/v2/context` chunks
ever link shiki/mermaid/cytoscape/katex/streamdown. Both were verified
able to fail by deliberately introducing the regression. These are
*structural* assertions, not size budgets — `dev-docs/bundle-size.md`
freezes `limit` fields until OSS-122.
- **`react-native` added to the bundle-size glob**, which it had never
been in, plus a `size:headless` measurement.

React Native also gains capabilities it lacked: render props inferred
from your schema, `name`/`toolCallId` on render props, and `result` on
completed calls.

**Corrected during review — two capabilities this originally claimed are
not delivered:**

- **Wildcard (`"*"`) renderers do not work on React Native.** Because
`useRenderTool` routes through `useFrontendTool` (which calls
`addTool`), `name: "*"` registers a frontend tool literally named `*` —
advertised to the model, and colliding with core's separate
wildcard-executable-tool path. react-core's `useRenderTool` is
renderer-only and special-cases the wildcard; React Native's is not. The
guide now advises against it.
- **`followUp` (and `available`) are not forwarded**, and the handler's
`context` argument is dropped, so `stopAgent()`'s abort signal is
unreachable from an RN handler.

Both are tracked in § Known limitations for the follow-up that converges
React Native onto react-core's hooks — deleting RN's `useRenderTool` in
favour of re-exporting `useFrontendTool` (tool + renderer) and
react-core's `useRenderTool` (renderer-only, wildcard-capable). That is
an API change with its own migration note, so it is not in this PR.

### ⚠️ Breaking (in a minor)

`useRenderToolRegistry` and `RenderToolProvider` are **removed**. Both
are documented on the docs site, so this is a real break — see the
`BREAKING CHANGE:` footer on `db67ccf`, which is what the release notes
derive from, plus the rewritten reference pages.

```diff
- const registry = useRenderToolRegistry();
- const renderer = registry.get(toolCall.function.name);
- return renderer ? renderer({ args, status }) : null;
+ const renderToolCall = useRenderToolCall();
+ return renderToolCall({ toolCall });
```

Also note two semantic changes: `args` is `Partial<T>` **only** while
`status` is `"inProgress"`, and a render function is now captured at
registration — if it closes over changing values you must declare them
in `deps` (React Native previously refreshed the closure on every
render).

**Known limitation:** agent-scoped renderer resolution does not take
effect on React Native. `CopilotChatConfigurationProvider` is not in
RN's provider tree, so `agentId` always resolves to the default.
Renderers still resolve by name; two agents registering the same tool
name resolve arbitrarily. Filed separately.

### A data point worth recording

Adding `useRenderToolCall` to the measured headless entry moved the
bundle **92.8 kB → 92.7 kB**. Flat. The hook React Native spent months
not using was already inside the chunk every RN app resolves whole —
Metro doesn't tree-shake, so the fork never saved a byte. It cost them.

### Testing

- `@copilotkit/react-native`: **253 passing / 22 files** ·
`@copilotkit/react-core`: **1480 passing / 123 files** · `check-types`
and `build` green for both.
- Each of the three bugs has a deterministic test driving a real
`CopilotKitCoreReact` — no mocking of the code under test.
- Both #4893 guards carry mutation evidence: introduce the regression,
watch them fail, revert, watch them pass.

### Follow-up

`useRenderTool`'s JSDoc is split across two blocks, which orphans the
primary description from IDE hover (the `@param deps` warning still
surfaces). One-line fix, deliberately left out of the final fix wave.

## Related PRs and Issues

- **Supersedes #6346** (@davidmckayv) — its diagnoses were correct and
its test assertions are ported here, re-driven through the real registry
rather than a mocked local one. Credited via `Co-Authored-By` on
`4104bd1`.
- Addresses the React Native half of **#4893**.
- Builds on **#5883**, which created the lean `/v2/headless` entry this
PR consumes.

Ben Taylor e8d5fa71d6 fix(runtime): bump uuid off deprecated v10.0.0 (#6118)
## Summary

`packages/runtime` declares its own `"uuid": "^10.0.0"` dependency, but
nothing in the package's source actually imports it directly — id
generation in `@copilotkit/runtime` goes through `randomUUID()`
re-exported from `@copilotkit/shared`, which already depends on
`uuid@^11.1.0`. The unused v10 pin just adds an npm deprecation warning
for every consumer installing `@copilotkit/runtime`:

```
npm warn deprecated uuid@10.0.0: uuid@10 and below is no longer supported. For ESM codebases, update to uuid@latest. For CommonJS codebases, use uuid@11 (but be aware this version will likely be deprecated in 2028).
```

This bumps it to `^11.1.0` to match `@copilotkit/shared` and clears the
warning.

## Test plan

- [x] `pnpm --filter "@copilotkit/runtime^..." run build` — all
workspace dependencies build cleanly
- [x] `pnpm --filter @copilotkit/runtime run check-types` — no type
errors
- [x] `pnpm --filter @copilotkit/runtime run test` — 126 test files /
1746 tests passing
- [x] Confirmed no file in `packages/runtime/src` imports `uuid`
directly (grepped for both `from "uuid"` / `from 'uuid'` and
`require("uuid")` — zero matches)
- [x] Confirmed `pnpm-lock.yaml` now resolves `uuid@11.1.0` for this
dependency, which is not on npm's deprecated-versions list

Maxim f34b7aa23c ci: measure @copilotkit/react-native bundle size (was absent from the glob)
react-native was missing from static_bundle_size.yml's package glob, so its
dist/ has never been measured despite being the consumer most exposed to the
#4893 regression (Metro does not tree-shake). This adds coverage:

- Extend the compressed-size-action glob to include react-native.
- New scripts/measure-headless.mjs: an esbuild-driven gzip signal for the
  @copilotkit/react-native/headless entry, mirroring react-core's
  measure-copilotchat.mjs (stdin + resolveDir, gzip sum, job-summary output).
- Wire a build + measure step into the copilotchat-import-size CI job.

First baseline: @copilotkit/react-native/headless = 92.8 kB gzip
(esbuild regression signal, not a Metro figure).

No limit fields (Phase 1 policy — see dev-docs/bundle-size.md).

esbuild added as a react-native devDependency (^0.27.0, matching react-core);
the root ">=0.25.4" override keeps the monorepo on a single esbuild (0.27.3).

Two corrections to the drafted script, verified by running it:
- Fed the entry via esbuild stdin with resolveDir=pkgRoot; a temp-dir entry
  cannot resolve @copilotkit/react-native/headless through workspace node_modules.
- Dropped useRenderToolCall from the import list — the RN headless surface
  deliberately does not export it (DOM-dependent; see src/index.ts).

Guido Vizoso 6c7e7b7df4 feat(reskinnable-demo): add the react-resizable-panels v4 wrapper
Pins ^4.12.2 and wraps its Group/Panel/Separator API behind two styled handles: an
8px gutter for the gap between cards and a 1px hairline. 4.x rather than the 2.x/3.x
used by six sibling examples because only 4.x accepts PIXEL size constraints, and
the layout's bounds are pixels.

Three v4 behaviours the consumers depend on, each with a test:
- The API is RENAMED from 2.x/3.x: PanelGroup->Group, direction->orientation,
  PanelResizeHandle->Separator, autoSaveId->useDefaultLayout. Most material online,
  including shadcn's Resizable block, targets the old names and will not compile.
- data-testid is DERIVED from a Panel's id and overwrites any passed in, so a
  panel's id is its query handle. Getting this wrong makes every
  [data-testid$='-panel'] query silently match nothing.
- Separator refuses flex-grow/flex-shrink overrides, so shrink-0 would be dead.

Adds a jsdom ResizeObserver stub, without which every test rendering a Group throws.

Note for anyone adding a dependency here: declare it in package.json and run
'pnpm install --lockfile-only' from the REPO ROOT. This example pins pnpm 10.10.0
while the root pins 10.33.4, so 'pnpm add' from this directory makes corepack switch
versions and the older pnpm re-resolves the entire workspace lockfile.

Mark f1156c9125 fix(deps): patch eventsource so Bun stops breaking the runtime integration job (#6334)
## What

Fixes the intermittently-red `test / integration / runtime` **bun** leg.
Three commits, smallest blast radius first:

1. **`ci(runtime)`** — pin `bun-version` from `latest` to `1.3.14` so a
Bun release can't change module-resolution behaviour between runs. (Only
`bun-version: latest` in the repo.)
2. **`fix(deps)`** — **this is the actual fix.** Patch
`eventsource@3.0.7` to drop its `bun` export condition, via `pnpm patch`
+ `patchedDependencies`.
3. **`refactor(runtime)`** — module-graph hygiene: load the MCP SSE
transport lazily. Explicitly **not** a behaviour fix; commit 2 is.

## Root cause

```
TypeError: require() async module ".../eventsource@3.0.7/node_modules/eventsource/dist/index.js" is unsupported. use "await import()" instead.
    at .../@modelcontextprotocol/sdk/dist/cjs/client/sse.js:4:7
    at .../@ag-ui/mcp-apps-middleware/dist/index.js:1:983
    at processTicksAndRejections (unknown:7:39)
```

- `eventsource@3.0.7` maps its `bun` export condition to the **ESM**
build (`dist/index.js`). Bun resolves `bun` **before** `require`, so a
CJS `require("eventsource")` receives an async ESM module and throws.
The package ships a real CJS build (`dist/index.cjs`) behind `require`,
but Bun never reaches it.
- Two CJS consumers in our graph hit this: the MCP SDK's own
`dist/cjs/client/sse.js`, and `@ag-ui/mcp-apps-middleware@0.0.3` — a
CJS-only package (`main: ./dist/index.js`, no `exports`, no `type:
module`) that `require`s that SDK path unconditionally at module load.
- **Why intermittent:** it's a load-order race. If the ESM graph fully
evaluates `eventsource` first, the later CJS `require` can be served
synchronously and the run passes; otherwise it throws.

Dropping the `bun` key makes Bun fall through to `import` for ESM
consumers (same `dist/index.js` as before — no behaviour change) and to
`require` for CJS consumers (`dist/index.cjs`, which is what they need).
Only `bun` is touched; `deno`/`source`/`import`/`require`/`default` are
left alone.

**A version bump is not an alternative:** `eventsource@4.1.0` still
ships the same `bun` → ESM mapping.

## Patch diff

`patches/eventsource@3.0.7.patch` (header abridged — the file carries
the full rationale and an explicit deletion criterion so it doesn't
become permanent by accident):

```diff
# Drops the `bun` export condition from eventsource.
# ...
# DELETE THIS PATCH WHEN: eventsource drops the `bun` condition or points it at
# dist/index.cjs, OR Bun stops preferring `bun` over `require` for CJS requires.
       "source": "./src/index.ts",
       "import": "./dist/index.js",
Root `package.json` gains:
```json
"patchedDependencies": { "eventsource@3.0.7": "patches/eventsource@3.0.7.patch" }

This repo had no `patches/` precedent (it uses `pnpm.overrides`), so
this sets one — hence the minimal one-line patch and the documented
removal criterion.

## Red-green proof

All four states. Local runs are the **same command on the same
machine**, differing only by whether the patch is applied. Bun 1.3.14,
macOS arm64, run from `packages/runtime`:

```sh
A single green run proves nothing here — it's a race — so both local
### 4. CI-GREEN
The `test / integration / runtime` bun leg on this PR is the
load-bearing evidence. See checks below.
## Clean-install verification
A patch that only works incrementally is worthless in CI, so this was
verified from scratch — every `node_modules` in the workspace deleted,
then `pnpm install --frozen-lockfile`:
- Install exited **0** with `--frozen-lockfile` (lockfile is
self-consistent; no drift).
- Exactly one `eventsource` entry in the store, and it is the patched
one:
`node_modules/.pnpm/eventsource@3.0.7_patch_hash=427032a8df76e38f39988ff5fb919a02ccb70eb8a235e2b484007e4bebb1e67e/`
- Resolved `package.json` in the store after clean install:
`{"deno":"./dist/index.js","source":"./src/index.ts","import":"./dist/index.js","require":"./dist/index.cjs","default":"./dist/index.js"}`
— `bun` absent, everything else intact.
- Lockfile records it deterministically:
`patchedDependencies.eventsource@3.0.7` with `hash: 427032a8...` and
`path: patches/eventsource@3.0.7.patch`, and the dependency edge
resolves as `eventsource@3.0.7(patch_hash=427032a8...)`.
- `--frozen-lockfile` accepted the lockfile verbatim (it does not
rewrite), so the lockfile is self-consistent with the manifests.
- The comment header on the patch file does not break pnpm's patch
applier.
- **Lockfile diff is scoped to eventsource — 9 lines, 3 hunks, nothing
else.** An earlier revision of this branch carried incidental drift
(`vue-component-type-helpers` 3.3.8→3.3.9 and a `vite` peer-range
narrowing) picked up by a non-frozen install; that has been reverted so
the diff contains only the patch wiring.
## Tests
All from `packages/runtime`, with the patch applied:
| Suite | Command | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Full runtime suite | `pnpm exec vitest run` | **130 files / 1835 tests
passed**, 0 failed |
| Node integration (other CI leg) | `pnpm exec vitest run
src/v2/runtime/__tests__/integration/node-servers.integration.test.ts` |
**153 passed** |
| MCP + SSE transport | `pnpm exec vitest run
src/agent/__tests__/mcp-servers-integration.test.ts
src/agent/__tests__/mcp-clients.test.ts
src/v2/runtime/__tests__/mcp-apps-middleware-integration.test.ts` | **3
files / 22 passed** |
| Bun integration | `bun test .../bun-servers.integration.test.ts` |
**20/20** (was 5/20) |
Non-Bun consumers are unaffected by construction — Node never reads the
`bun` export condition — and the Node suites above confirm it. The SSE
path stays covered: `mcp-servers-integration.test.ts` exercises
`mcpServers: [{ type: "sse", url }]`, so it executes the new `await
import()`, which sits **outside** the `try/catch` that swallows
per-server connection failures.
## Module-graph proof for commit 3
Commit 3 is hygiene, so it gets its own narrower proof. Probe: Bun
populates `require.cache` with the resolved path of every module
actually loaded, so importing one module and inspecting that cache shows
whether `eventsource` entered the graph. Two controls run every time so
it can't pass vacuously.
```ts
const target = process.argv[2]!;
await import(target);
const keys = Object.keys(require.cache).filter(
  (k) => /eventsource/.test(k) && !/eventsource-parser/.test(k),
);
console.log(`${target}\n  eventsource loaded: ${keys.length > 0 ? "YES" : "NO"}`);
```
| Module | before commit 3 | after commit 3 |
|---|---|---|
| `@copilotkit/shared` (negative control) | NO | NO |
| `@modelcontextprotocol/sdk/client/sse.js` (positive control) | YES |
YES |
| `../src/agent/index.ts` (subject, non-SSE path) | **YES** | **NO** |
Both controls hold steady; only the subject flips. Measured on its own,
commit 3 does **not** move the bun pass rate (5/20 before, 3/20 after
within noise) — which is exactly why commit 2 exists.
## Typing
No `as any`, no `@ts-ignore`. `const { SSEClientTransport } = await
import(...)` keeps the class fully typed — TypeScript resolves
dynamic-import types statically. `packages/runtime/tsconfig.json`
already sets `"module": "es2022"` with the comment *"so dynamic import()
typechecks"*, so the pattern is anticipated.
Two adjacent bare `let` declarations (`transport`, `mcpClient`) gained
explicit annotations (`MCPTransport | undefined`, `MCPClient`) because
editors surface them as implicit-any suggestions. Both pre-existed on
`main`. Verified: `tsc --noEmit` clean; `tsc --noEmit --strict` error
set **identical to baseline** (3 pre-existing unrelated `TS2769`s);
`oxlint` warnings **unchanged from baseline** (2, both pre-existing).
`SSEClientTransport` is `@deprecated` in SDK 1.29.0 in favour of
`StreamableHTTPClientTransport`. That deprecation pre-exists on `main`
and is left alone: `type: "sse"` is documented public config, SSE and
Streamable HTTP are different wire protocols, and the SDK's own note
says clients "may need to support both transports during the migration
period." Migrating is a user-facing change for its own PR.
## Gates run
- `pnpm exec oxfmt --check packages/runtime/src/agent/index.ts` — clean
- `pnpm exec oxlint packages/runtime/src/agent/index.ts` — 0 errors, 2
warnings (both pre-existing on `main`)
- `pnpm nx run @copilotkit/runtime:check-types` — pass
- `pnpm exec commitlint --from HEAD~3 --to HEAD` — pass
- `pnpm install --frozen-lockfile` from a fully wiped workspace — exit 0
Mark 36f2972150 fix(a2ui-renderer): bump @a2ui/web_core to 0.10.4 for the openUrl XSS advisory
GHSA-72qq-p3r5-f7wq (CVSS 9.3). web_core <= 0.10.1 passed an agent-supplied
`openUrl` argument straight to `window.open()` with no scheme allowlist, so a
Button whose `functionCall` named a `javascript:` URI executed arbitrary script
in the host origin when a user clicked it. The Basic Catalog is the default, so
no non-default configuration was required to be exposed.
We pinned 0.9.0 exactly, as a runtime dependency of two published packages
(@copilotkit/a2ui-renderer, @copilotkit/vue) and transitively of
@copilotkit/react-core and @copilotkit/angular, so downstream users could not
upgrade out of it on their own. 0.10.4 keeps the ./v0_9 and
./v0_9/basic_catalog entrypoints we import; the only symbol dropped from v0_9
is FrameworkSignal, which we never referenced.
Add regression tests over both renderers that reach the sink independently
(React and Lit). They assert that javascript: and data: URIs never reach
window.open, that https URLs still open with noopener,noreferrer, and that a
blocked scheme leaves the surface mounted rather than escaping into the click
handler. Verified they fail against 0.9.0 and pass against 0.10.4.
Jordan Ritter 6a8dc4ec50 fix(deps): patch eventsource to drop its bun export condition
eventsource maps its `bun` export condition to the ESM build, and Bun resolves
`bun` before `require`. So a CJS require("eventsource") under Bun receives an
async ESM module and throws "require() async module ... is unsupported". The
package ships a real CJS build behind `require`, but Bun never reaches it.
Two CJS consumers in our graph hit this: the MCP SDK's own dist/cjs/client/sse.js,
and @ag-ui/mcp-apps-middleware, which requires that SDK path unconditionally at
module load. It surfaced as an intermittent failure of the runtime bun
integration job -- intermittent because it is a load-order race, where the run
only passes if the ESM graph happens to evaluate eventsource first.
Dropping the `bun` key makes Bun fall through to `import` for ESM consumers
(same file as before) and `require` for CJS consumers (the CJS build they need).
Takes the bun integration test from 5/20 to 20/20 locally. A version bump is not
an alternative: eventsource 4.1.0 still ships the same mapping.
adrienplg 0d679c7fc0 fix(runtime): bump uuid off deprecated v10.0.0
packages/runtime declared "uuid": "^10.0.0", but nothing in the package's
re-exported from @copilotkit/shared, which already depends on uuid@^11.1.0.
The unused v10 pin only served to emit an npm deprecation warning for every
consumer installing @copilotkit/runtime.
Bump to ^11.1.0 to match @copilotkit/shared and clear the warning.
Mark Fogle c336514519 chore(deps): widen @anthropic-ai/sdk optional peer range
The optional peer dependency on @anthropic-ai/sdk was pinned to
^0.57.0, which conflicts with current SDK versions (e.g. 0.109) and
forces consumers to install @copilotkit/runtime with --legacy-peer-deps.
The anthropic adapter only relies on stable @anthropic-ai/sdk APIs
(client construction, messages.create, ephemeral cache_control), so
loosen the range to >=0.57.0 to remove the false peer conflict.
pnpm auto-installs this optional peer, so its specifier is mirrored in
the lockfile; update that specifier line to match. The resolved version
(0.57.0) still satisfies the range, so resolution is otherwise unchanged
and `pnpm install --frozen-lockfile` passes.
Manfred Steyer b3de484be1 feat(angular): MCP Apps activity renderer
Adds the opt-in secondary entry point @copilotkit/angular/mcp-apps for
rendering MCP Apps (MCP ext-apps) inline in the chat:
- CopilotMCPAppsActivityRenderer plus a ready-to-register
  mcpAppsActivityRendererConfig for activityType mcp-apps
- CopilotMCPAppsWidget loads the app's ui:// resource from the configured
  MCP server, embeds it in a sandboxed iframe, and connects an AppBridge
  that relays tool input/result, size changes, links, and log messages
- provideMCPApps registers server URLs and the host identity, capabilities,
  and context announced to embedded apps
- @modelcontextprotocol/sdk and @modelcontextprotocol/ext-apps are optional
  peer dependencies; the main entry point stays free of MCP imports
