fix(cli): make upgrade downloads visible and half the size (#4187)
## Problem `composio upgrade` from `0.3.4-beta.351` to `0.4.0-beta.359` looked hung for several minutes: ``` ◐ New version available: @composio/cli@0.4.0-beta.359 (current: @composio/cli@0.3.4-beta.351). Downloading. ``` Two independent defects behind that. **No feedback.** `upgrade-binary.ts` printed that message once and then said nothing until the download finished. The only byte-level signal was a `logDebug`, invisible in a normal run, because the body was read with a single buffered `response.arrayBuffer`. **Mostly wasted payload.** The archive is 338 MB, and ~651 MB of what it unpacks is `codex-acp` binaries for the three platforms the host cannot execute. Measured on a darwin-arm64 install: ``` ~/.composio 967 MB total codex/darwin-arm64 180 MB ← the only one this Mac can run codex/darwin-x64 190 MB ┐ codex/linux-arm64 208 MB ├─ 620 MB of dead weight codex/linux-x64 222 MB ┘ ``` ## Changes **Progress reporting.** The response is streamed and reported on a 250 ms interval: `Downloading... 42% (142.0 MB / 338.0 MB)`. The total comes from the release asset's `size` (newly decoded — the field was being dropped), falling back to `content-length`, and falling back again to a plain byte count so an unknown size degrades instead of failing. **Half the payload.** Each archive now carries real bytes only for the `codex-acp` binary its own platform can execute. The other three paths cannot simply be dropped — that is exactly the break #4186 just repaired. A CLI released before 2026-08-18 verifies a downloaded package against all four codex-acp paths and refuses one missing any of them. So they ship as **empty placeholders**: the existence check passes at zero bytes, and since no host ever executes a foreign codex-acp, the placeholder is never read. Once no supported client performs that check, placeholders become plain omissions — `archiveCompanionEntries` is where that switch lives. As a guard, codex adapter resolution now requires a non-empty file, so a zero-byte binary resolves as absent and falls through to the existing bundled → PATH → npx chain rather than trying to exec it. Expected effect: download 338 MB → ~165 MB, install footprint 967 MB → ~347 MB. ## Verification - Full CLI suite: **122 files, 1262 passed, 1 skipped** - `pnpm --filter @composio/cli typecheck` — clean - The existing `upgrade-binary` download tests run against a real HTTP server and pass unchanged, covering the buffered → streamed rewrite - New tests: progress formatting (known total, unknown total, zero total, overshoot) and `archiveCompanionEntries` (all four paths named, exactly one copied, three placeholdered, portable assets copied) - `pnpm validate:changesets` — passes; note lands in `ts/packages/cli/CHANGELOG.md` Not verifiable locally: actual archive sizes and a real upgrade against a pre-2026-08-18 client. Both need a beta build — worth confirming on the beta cut from this branch before it goes near a stable promotion. Independent of the `0.4.0` release in flight; `0.4.0-beta.359` is unaffected. https://claude.ai/code/session_01JkwtxPHfobZxzvAqe53x62 |

ci: use COMPOSIO_ORG_API_KEY_FOR_CODING_AGENT_EVAL (distinct from the other org key)
The composio repo already has a COMPOSIO_ORG_API_KEY secret used for something else. To avoid any confusion, the docs-eval check now uses a dedicated secret AND env var name end to end (secret ref, env var, and validate step), and pins the engine (19f6417) that reads that name. Nothing in this workflow references the bare COMPOSIO_ORG_API_KEY anymore. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

feat(docs): launch unified support knowledge MVP (#4159)
## Summary Launches the Support Knowledge Base MVP at `/kb` and makes its search a unified public support surface across canonical docs, KB guides, toolkits, examples, API reference pages, changelog entries, and OAuth guides. Internal context: [Support Knowledge Platform PRD](https://app.notion.com/p/composio/Support-Knowledge-Platform-PRD-3bcf261a6dfe816297f9feeb5398a9af) ## Changes - Publishes 124 reviewed resources from the reconciled public-only `ComposioHQ/support-knowledge` snapshot with canonical guide, topic, toolkit, browse, sitemap, and LLM-readable routes. - Adds keyword-first unified retrieval over all public source classes. Strong exact titles and tool slugs return without an embedding; weaker natural-language queries can fuse keyword results with semantic docs/KB matches. - Uses a checked-in format-v2 semantic artifact with 1,033 public docs/KB records. No vector database or Algolia NeuralSearch is introduced. - Preserves compatibility with the deployed Algolia keyword index while retaining a full local fallback and branch-current docs/KB overlays for previews. - Server-renders initial `/kb/search` results, removes the client hydration request waterfall, and shows concise mixed-source labels without the redundant `Guide` badge. - Publishes current Composio For You setup instructions for 17 client/setup categories, including pinned public onboarding media from the dashboard repository. - Adds semantic timeout, rate/cost/concurrency protection, structured degradation logging, and PostHog query/outcome analytics with credential redaction and stage timings. - Routes the existing public `composio` skill through the unified endpoint when current docs and CLI/tool schemas do not answer a support question; no separate support skill is introduced. - Keeps scheduled/dispatch-based public snapshot refresh automation and expands privacy validation to all publishable bodies and metadata. ## Type of change - [ ] Bug fix - [x] New feature - [ ] Refactor/Chore - [x] Documentation - [ ] Breaking change ## How Has This Been Tested? - `cd docs && bun run check:kb-semantic` — artifact current, 1,033 records - `cd docs && bun run test` — 464 passed, 0 failed (27,240 assertions) - `cd docs && bun run types:check` — passed - `cd docs && bun run lint` — exit 0 with existing repository warnings - `cd docs && bun run lint:links` — 0 errors - `cd docs && bun run build` — optimized production build succeeded - `node ts/scripts/validate-agent-skills.mjs` — 18 canonical skills validated - `node ts/scripts/test-skill-routing.mjs` — 18 routing probes passed - [End-to-end agent + skill smoke eval](https://github.com/ComposioHQ/composio/pull/4159#issuecomment-5364319453) — 6 pass / 1 partial across seven representative support questions; no-skill control was acceptable on roughly 3/7 - Five representative API and server-rendered search smoke queries passed; exact action slugs skipped semantic retrieval while natural-language queries used hybrid mode - Final independent review completed; its one important citation finding was fixed before push - `git diff --check` ## Preview - [Knowledge Base](https://docs-git-codex-support-knowledge-mvp.preview.composio.dev/kb) - [Unified search](https://docs-git-codex-support-knowledge-mvp.preview.composio.dev/kb/search?q=how+to+connect+to+claude) - [Toolkit directory](https://docs-git-codex-support-knowledge-mvp.preview.composio.dev/kb/toolkits) ## Checklist - [x] I have read the Code of Conduct and this PR adheres to it - [x] I ran linters/tests locally and they passed - [x] I updated documentation as needed - [x] I added tests or explain why not applicable - [x] I added a changeset if this change affects published packages (not applicable) |

ci: address Cursor Bugbot findings on the App-token caller
- App token left on disk (Medium): checkout the private engine with persist-credentials: false, so the App installation token is never written to engine/.git/config where the eval's agent steps (filesystem access on the same runner) could read it. Token is only needed for the one-time fetch. - Non-docs previews start evals (Medium): the deployment_status trigger now requires the environment_url to start with https://docs- (matching the label path's docs-* rule), so a non-docs *.preview.composio.dev deployment can't kick off or cancel a docs eval. Already-resolved findings (stale, from the pre-App design): "unrelated labels cancel evals" (route job's label guard skips unrelated labels before the concurrency group) and "token cannot read deployments" (deployments: read is set on both jobs). ci: run private engine via GitHub App token (replaces public reusable-workflow call)
Keeps the engine repo private (Sarah 2026-08-21). A public repo can't `uses:` a private repo's reusable workflow, so the eval job now: 1. mints a short-lived GitHub App token (create-github-app-token, SHA-pinned) 2. checks out the private engine repo with it (path: engine/) 3. runs the engine inline (route_pr.py -> run_full_eval.py) on the runner Result comment + check status still posted with the built-in GITHUB_TOKEN (composio's own; App token is read-only on the engine repo). Needs repo secrets: DOCS_EVAL_APP_ID, DOCS_EVAL_APP_PRIVATE_KEY (added), plus existing COMPOSIO_ORG_API_KEY, DEEPSEEK_API_KEY. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

ci: dual-trigger docs eval, org-member gate, no Vercel secrets
- deployment_status + labeled/reopened triggers (synchronize dropped): label-then-push and push-then-label both work; either event checks for the other half before running - route job maps deployment SHA -> open PR, requires a run-docs-tests label AND an org-affiliated PR author (public-repo hardening) - secrets down to COMPOSIO_ORG_API_KEY + DEEPSEEK_API_KEY; preview resolution moved into the engine via GitHub deployment records (no Vercel credentials anywhere, decision 2026-08-19) - engine pin bumped to the no-vercel-credentials resolver Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

ci: point the eval shim at the clean public-ready repo (docs-agent-eval-ci)
The eval machinery moved to ComposioHQ/docs-agent-eval-ci (clean history, code only — internal until reviewed, then flipped public so this public repo may call it; GitHub forbids public->internal reusable workflow calls, which is this PR's currently failing check). ci: don't let unrelated label additions cancel in-flight evals
The labeled event fires for every label; with workflow-level concurrency any label added mid-run cancelled and restarted the eval. Gate labeled events on the run-docs-tests* labels and move concurrency to job level (a skipped job never enters the group). Cursor Bugbot finding. ci: add label-triggered docs agent eval check (V1, informational)
Adding the run-docs-tests label to a PR runs an agent-buildability eval against the PR's Vercel docs preview: deterministic routing (no-eval / Smoke / Deep), isolated agents reading the proposed docs through a rewrite proxy, PASS/FAIL/ERROR + agent docs-feedback posted as a PR comment. Non-blocking; all eval logic lives in ComposioHQ/docs-agent-eval. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

feat(examples): live-sweep harness, manifest, and scheduled workflow (#4117)
This PR: - builds on merged PR #4107 - adds `examples-manifest.json`: 93 runnable entrypoints across both SDKs with tiers (unattended / provisioned / bounded / excluded), per-entry timeouts, env contracts, and labeled readiness markers for OAuth flows - adds `harness/run.mjs`: sweeps entries against staging with per-entry Composio traces, negative controls (garbage credentials must fail), a `selftest`, and a baseline/candidate client swap for parity runs - rejects every non-staging `COMPOSIO_BASE_URL` before the harness or provisioning script can send credentials - adds `--llm mock`: LLM examples run against a pinned `@copilotkit/aimock` server with scripted tool-call fixtures (`harness/llm-mock/`) — full sweeps spend zero model tokens while Composio tool execution stays live on staging; 46/48 LLM entries pass mocked, and the two `@openai/agents` entries are marked `llmMock:false` - adds `examples-live.yml`: nightly gc-provision → mock sweep → four-entry live LLM canary; dispatchable per language, client, entry subset, and LLM mode, and bound to the `staging` GitHub environment - accepts separate TypeScript tarball and Python wheel inputs for candidate sweeps, restores exact pre-run workspace files on failure, and rejects empty or partial parity comparisons The configured `COMPOSIO_API_KEY` must belong to a dedicated, disposable staging project. The workflow becomes dispatchable after it exists on the default branch. ## Context Examples historically went stale because nothing executed them. PR #4107 makes them runnable and provisionable; this PR adds the machinery that runs them on a schedule and validates the Stainless→self-managed client swap via baseline/candidate parity sweeps. ```mermaid graph TD M[examples-manifest.json] --> R[harness/run.mjs sweep] P[examples-provision.mjs --gc] -->|COMPOSIO_EXAMPLES_* ids| R R -->|tier 1-3 entries| E[TS + Python examples] A[aimock fixtures] -->|--llm mock| E E -->|live tool execution + traces| C[Composio staging] R --> N[nightly live canary: 4 entries] ``` ## Verification - `env -u COMPOSIO_BASE_URL node harness/run.mjs selftest` - `pnpm test:examples` against a clean tracked snapshot - manifest integrity: 93 unique entry IDs and 93 existing files - JavaScript, Python, JSON, YAML, and embedded Bash syntax checks - `pnpm validate:changesets` |

fix(examples): align Python and TypeScript examples with current backend (#4107)
## Summary - Repairs runnable TypeScript and Python examples for current backend requirements, including authenticated MCP endpoints, current transports, valid tool identifiers, provider limits, and resource uniqueness. - Replaces placeholder resource IDs with explicit `COMPOSIO_EXAMPLES_*` configuration and makes failed examples exit loudly. - Adds `scripts/examples-provision.mjs` as an idempotent provisioning check for a disposable examples project. ## Scope - This PR no longer changes the Python SDK runtime or generated-client dependency. - Python remains pinned to the published `composio-client==1.43.0` in `pyproject.toml`, `setup.py`, and `uv.lock`. - The owned 2.x client integration is deferred until that client completes its release guarantees and is explicitly published. - The scheduled live workflow and manifest remain deferred until their runner is tracked. ## Verification - `make chk` - `make tst` (`927 passed, 33 skipped`) - Hosted checks rerun against commit `12691aca7`. |

chore(cli): bake the toolkit slug catalog into the CLI
Resolving a tool slug to its toolkit needs the catalog, but the catalog is ~800 KB of metadata to learn ~11 KB of slugs. Check the slugs in as generated source so the CLI starts out knowing them. Adds the generator (paginates the production catalog, keeps native toolkits, sorts and dedupes), the checked-in list, a guard test, and a weekly workflow that opens a refresh PR when the catalog moves. The generator refuses to write a list that is short, malformed, or missing staple toolkits, so a bad or wrong-scoped credential aborts before overwriting a good list. The binary build warns when the list is older than two weeks, and never fails on it. Nothing reads the list yet. |

This enables secure in-process runtimes like V8 isolates and exports <code>sanitizeToolId</code> so transports can share consistent <code>external_*</code> naming.</p> <h3>New <code>@mastra/isolated-vm</code> package for V8-isolated Code Mode</h3> <p>Introduces <code>@mastra/isolated-vm</code> with <code>IsolatedVmCodeModeTransport</code>, running model-authored programs inside an in-process V8 isolate with no filesystem/network/process access (only bridged <code>external_*</code> tools). Note: requires <code>isolated-vm</code> native addon and Node 20+ hosts must start with <code>--no-node-snapshot</code>.</p> <h3>Built-in provider-native Web Search tool</h3> <p><code>@mastra/core</code> adds <code>webSearchTool</code>, a first-party web search tool that resolves to provider-native search when supported by the configured model/provider, simplifying “current info” agent setups.</p> <h3>Stored agent drafts via <code>autoPublish</code> (Server + JS SDK)</h3> <p>Both <code>@mastra/server</code> and <code>@mastra/client-js</code> add <code>autoPublish</code> to stored agent creation so you can create an initial unpublished draft for review before publishing (existing calls still publish immediately by default).</p> <h3>New Factory channel identity domain + channels integration slot</h3> <p><code>@mastra/factory</code> adds a <code>channel-identity</code> storage domain to link chat-platform senders to Factory users, plus a <code>channels()</code> integration slot to attach an <code>AgentControllerChannels</code> during <code>prepare()</code> so inbound platform messages can drive the same agents as the web UI.</p> <h3>Breaking Changes</h3> <ul> <li><code>ChannelHandler</code> context parameter is now required: the 4th parameter is <code>ctx: ChannelHandlerContext</code> (non-optional). Code that <em>calls</em> a <code>ChannelHandler</code>-typed function with only three args must be updated to pass <code>ctx</code>.</li> </ul> <h2>Changelog</h2> <h3><a href="https://github.com/mastra-ai/mastra/blob/@mastra/core@1.55.0/packages/core/CHANGELOG.md">@mastra/core@1.55.0</a></h3> <h4>Minor Changes</h4> <ul> <li> <p>Added support for Code Mode transports that provide their own execution boundary. A transport can now declare <code>requiresSandbox: false</code> and <code>createCodeMode()</code> will run it without a workspace sandbox, which enables in-process transports such as <code>IsolatedVmCodeModeTransport</code> from <code>@mastra/isolated-vm</code>: (<a href="https://redirect.github.com/mastra-ai/mastra/pull/20359">#20359</a>)</p> <pre lang="typescript"><code>import { createCodeMode } from '@mastra/core/tools'; import { IsolatedVmCodeModeTransport } from '@mastra/isolated-vm'; <p>// No sandbox needed — the V8 isolate is the execution boundary const { tool, instructions } = createCodeMode({ tools }, new IsolatedVmCodeModeTransport()); </code></pre></p> <p>Also fixed the generated Code Mode instructions to describe isolation accurately instead of always claiming the program runs fully sandboxed, since the actual boundary depends on the configured sandbox and transport. The <code>sanitizeToolId</code> helper used for <code>external_*</code> naming is now exported from <code>@mastra/core/tools</code> so transports can reuse it instead of duplicating it.</p> </li> <li> <p>Added retry callbacks for stream error policies and ensured explicit matcher policies override provider retry metadata. (<a href="https://redirect.github.com/mastra-ai/mastra/pull/19724">#19724</a>)</p> </li> <li> <p>Channel handlers can now contribute to the request context of the run they start. (<a href="https://redirect.github.com/mastra-ai/mastra/pull/20060">#20060</a>)</p> <p><code>ChannelHandlerContext</code> gains a <code>requestContext</code> field holding the <code>RequestContext</code> for the run the inbound message is about to start. It is constructed fresh for every message, and a handler may write to it before calling <code>defaultHandler</code>. Core then adds its own channel and render-context entries and dispatches with the same instance, so anything the handler wrote reaches the run.</p> <pre lang="ts"><code>import { AgentControllerChannels } from '@mastra/core/channels'; <p>const channels = new AgentControllerChannels({ adapters, handlers: { </code></pre></p> </li> </ul> <!-- raw HTML omitted --> </blockquote> <p>... fix(json-schema): accept and preserve dynamic object content across converters
Property-less objects (`{ type: "object" }`, `properties: {}`) were being
collapsed to a strict empty object by the Zod converter and given an implicit
`additionalProperties: false` by the Effect converter, so valid free-form
payloads such as METABASE_POST_API_CARD.dataset_query were rejected at the CLI
boundary. `ToolSchema.parse` separately dropped root `patternProperties` and
rejected a schema-valued root `additionalProperties`.
Dynamic keys are now routed to exactly the schemas that apply to them, and the
shared acceptance contract lives in one checked-in corpus with byte-identical
TypeScript and Python copies.

ci(docs): open docs PRs with the release-bot app token (#4074)
## Problem
`docs.changelog-to-docs.yml` fails at `gh pr create` on every run that
has documentation changes:
```
pull request create failed: GraphQL: GitHub Actions is not permitted to
create or approve pull requests (createPullRequest)
```
The repository has *Allow GitHub Actions to create and approve pull
requests* disabled:
```console
$ gh api repos/ComposioHQ/composio/actions/permissions/workflow
{"default_workflow_permissions":"read","can_approve_pull_request_reviews":false}
```
That setting gates PR **creation** as well as approval, and it overrides
whatever the job's `pull-requests` permission grants. `GITHUB_TOKEN`
simply cannot open a PR in this repo.
This is not a new regression. The last PR this workflow successfully
opened was #3466 on 2026-05-20; the setting was flipped off some time
after. Since then every run with docs changes has failed at this step —
**13 failures**, leaving **36 orphaned `docs/changelog-update-*`
branches** on the remote, because the step pushes the branch and then
dies. #3816 was opened by hand to rescue one of them.
Every other PR-opening workflow in this repo already mints a release-bot
App token for exactly this reason. These two were missed. On the same
commit `661d7b5`, `docs.sdk-change-sync.yml` (app token) ran its
create-PR and request-review steps green while
`docs.changelog-to-docs.yml` failed.
## Changes
**`docs.changelog-to-docs.yml`** — the root-cause fix:
- Mint a release-bot App token, same pinned action SHA and
`vars`/`secrets` names as the sibling workflows.
- Check out with that token, so the push is authored by the app and PR
CI triggers.
- `gh pr create` runs with the app token instead of `GITHUB_TOKEN`.
- `id-token: write` added to match the siblings.
**`docs.sync-connect-clients.yml`** — the same defect, latent: its
`peter-evans/create-pull-request` step passed no `token:`, so it fell
back to `github.token` and would hit the identical block on its next
docs change.
**Reviewer request split out of `gh pr create`** (both files, matching
`docs.sdk-change-sync.yml`): an unassignable actor previously failed the
whole command *after* the branch was already pushed — which is precisely
what turned each failure into an orphaned branch. It is now a separate
`continue-on-error` step.
## Verification
Repo lint/prettier cover only `**/*.{ts,tsx,js,jsx,json,md}`, so nothing
gates workflow YAML; these were checked manually:
| Check | Result |
|---|---|
| `yaml.safe_load` both files | OK |
| `bash -n` on the extracted PR script | OK |
| PR step with a stubbed `gh` | branch name byte-identical to the real
run; multi-line body survives the nested heredoc; `pull-request-number`
emitted |
| No-changes path | `No documentation changes needed`, exit 0, no `gh`
call |
| `pnpm lint` / `pnpm typecheck` | pass |
The nested `$(gh pr create … "$(cat <<'EOF' …)")` was the one genuinely
risky part of the edit, so it was exercised rather than eyeballed.
## Follow-ups (not in this PR)
- 36 orphaned `docs/changelog-update-*` branches need pruning;
`docs/changelog-update-661d7b5` carries a real Codex docs commit worth
salvaging first.
- `git add -A` in the PR step is unscoped — the siblings constrain this
with `add-paths`. Not the cause of this failure.
- `Docs Health Check` is separately failing on `661d7b5`.

ci(docs): open docs PRs with the release-bot app token
`GITHUB_TOKEN` cannot create pull requests in this repository: the "Allow GitHub Actions to create and approve pull requests" setting is disabled, so `createPullRequest` is rejected regardless of what the job's `pull-requests` permission grants. `docs.changelog-to-docs.yml` has failed at `gh pr create` on every run with docs changes since that setting was flipped, leaving pushed branches behind with no PR. `docs.sync-connect-clients.yml` had the same defect latently: its `create-pull-request` action passed no `token`, so it fell back to `github.token`. Both now mint a release-bot App token, matching every other PR-opening workflow in the repo, and check out with it so pushes are authored by the app and PR CI triggers. Also split the reviewer request out of `gh pr create` into a separate best-effort step. An unassignable actor previously failed the whole command after the branch was already pushed, which is what turned each failure into an orphaned branch. |

fix(ci): keep the canary teardown out of the pinned uninstall block
test/release-workflow.test.ts pins the `rm -rf` block in cli.install-health-check.yml against INSTALL.md's documented uninstall, and the health check listed $HOME/.composio-canary inside that block. The canary bin dir is the workflow's own isolation directory, not something a user uninstalls, so INSTALL.md must not grow an entry for it. Tear it down in a separate statement instead. The parser only reads the backslash-continued block, so a single-line `rm -rf` is invisible to it while the cleanup still runs before the install. |

ci(cli): run install-script unit tests on installer-only pull requests
An installer-only change ran no lint or tests anywhere before landing: Test Installation triggered on tag push, dispatch, and call only, and Build CLI Binaries' push path filter did not cover install.sh or install/. Add install.sh and install/** to that path filter, and trigger Test Installation on pull requests touching the installer, its suites, or the workflow itself. Only the ubuntu-only unit-test job (shellcheck plus the install-sh-*.test.sh suites) runs there; the multi-OS matrix installs an already-published release a pull request cannot produce, so it stays gated off pull requests along with the summary that reports it. |

ci(cli): drop the orphaned built_from_this_checkout installation input
The input let legs that install an older published release accept install.sh's legacy PATH block. That case no longer exists: install.sh always comes from this checkout, and delegated_setup_verified only trusts a delegated `composio install --shell` when every target startup file matches its own rendering byte for byte, rewriting the block inline otherwise. The unconditional managed-block assertion is therefore valid on every leg, and no run body ever read the env var it was wired into. |

Merge branch 'next' into feat/installer-auto-shell-default
Keeps this branch's fixture-driven managed-block reconciler (reconcileManagedPathBlock, pinned byte-for-byte against install.sh's awk rewrite by test/managed-block-fixtures) and drops next's narrower replaceManagedPathBlock/applyFileChanges pair, which it supersedes. Adopts from next: the narrowed unsafe-path character set on both the TS and sh sides, the removal of the $PATH-reachability write skip, the hedged no-shell PATH message, and the COMPOSIO_BIN_DIR command documentation. |

ci(cli): fail the installation guard when a freshly built release skips the PATH write
The shell-config check accepted the legacy install.sh block on every leg, justified by a comment claiming no leg installs a binary built from this checkout. Build CLI Binaries calls this workflow with the tag it just released, so that leg does exercise the new binary — and a completely broken `composio install` that fell through to install.sh's writer still reported success. Callers now declare built_from_this_checkout; those legs must show the CLI-managed PATH line. promote-stable keeps the permissive check, since it rebuilds the promoted beta's own commit, which can predate the writer. |

ci(cli): make the canary probe prove the managed PATH block
Install the no-arg canary with COMPOSIO_BIN_DIR=$HOME/.composio-canary/bin, a directory Ubuntu's ~/.profile never contributes, so the env -i login probe passes only when the managed block itself makes composio resolvable, and assert nothing lands in ~/.local/bin. |

ci(cli): keep scheduled prod install E2E off unprovisioned shell routes
The /install/<shell> variant routes still 404 in production, so the harness's prod mode now selects the shell with COMPOSIO_INSTALL_SHELL on the base /install route, and the scheduled matrix gains a fish leg. The Docker harness invocation stays in place; a workflow comment records how to restore variant-route coverage once the routes ship. |

docs(cli): make the documented uninstall safe and tested
The uninstall snippet now stages each startup-file rewrite in a 0600 mktemp file, promotes it only when the filter succeeds (preserving symlinks, inode, owner, and mode), always cleans up, removes legacy three-line blocks including the fish install-dir export, and deletes an installer-created ~/.bash_profile left empty so bash regains its default startup-file selection. A new suite extracts the snippet verbatim from the docs and exercises it under sh and dash, wired into the install script unit-test workflow. |

Merge branch 'fix/cli-upgrade-atomic-replace' into feat/installer-auto-shell-default
Port the atomic replacement work from #4016: support files publish first, release metadata next, the binary last, with aside/rollback recovery for directory entries and preserved staging on failed restores. |
