Now that the packages are avaiable at the base node_modules we can treat local packages as normal packages and not leverage the archive package versions
PR Close#62996
Use the packaged versions of the packages instead of the local ts_project dependencies to prevent multiple versions of the deps to enter test bundles
PR Close#62413
This commit migrates the remaining pieces of `compiler-cli` to
`ts_project`. This involves a few more things during migration:
- the `ng_module` ngc_wrapped rule broke as part of this change, so we
switched it to `ts_project` too. This logic is soon gone anyway.
- we needed an extra pnpm "package.json" for the linker babel test. This test is
loading from the real compiler-cli npm package. Babel needs a real
node module for this, so this solution seems reasonable. It may be
worth exploring in the future to move this test into an integration
test though.
- the older integrationtest in compiler-cli is removed as the coverage
is much better with the compliance test suite and this test.

We are dropping the custom ESBuild and Terser pipeline from dev-infra
and instead leverage the Angular CLI directly. This commit adjusts
the benchmarks to use this new rule.
PR Close#61566
Instead of dev-infra maintaining a custom ESBuild + Terser pipeline that
tries to emulate the Angular CLI, we are switching the bundling core
tests to a new rule that really leverages the Angular CLI.
This involves some file renames and small adjustments. In addition, we
leverage the updated symbol tracking rule to output new goldens that can
work with multiple bundle files (as generated by the Angular CLI;
especially with defer and its "lazy" chunks).
PR Close#61566
Compiler now would have `.js` files. Those aren't picked up as ESM,
unless we install the `package.json` with `type: module`. Sounds great
on paper, but doesn't work in reality because the way the compiler
packages are available to `api-gen/` is via the old `rules_nodejs`
linker, so the `packages/package.json` wouldn't work; nor do the
`package.json`s of the e.g. compiler-cli package work- because those
already contain the `exports` of the built npm package.
We fix this in a much more reasonable way, and the whole module
resolution problem by leveraging the pnpm linking here. This works as
expected.
PR Close#61566
This commit removes the direct dependency on TypeScript within the linker, addressing a performance overhead that was adding between 500ms to 1s to compilation times for applications.
The primary cause of this overhead was the linker's direct reliance on TypeScript's which was caused by importing from barrel files. While convenient, barrel files are detrimental to code splitting and code motion. They force the bundling of all exported modules, even if only a subset is actually used.
By removing the usage of this barrel file and restructuring the imports to be more granular, we can avoid unnecessary TypeScript imports.
Furthermore, TypeScript has now been changed to an optional peer dependency as using only the linker does not require TypeScript.

This commit introduces integration tests for hydration and event reply functionalities. Additionally, it implements a payload size check for the `event-dispatch-contract.min.js`.

This commit removes the NGCC code and all the related infra setup required to support it.
BREAKING CHANGE: Angular Compatibility Compiler (ngcc) has been removed and as a result Angular View Engine libraries will no longer work
PR Close#49101
These folders are no longer used in the source tree, and only exist
in the Bazel sandbox. We can rmeove them. Node modules are kept because
people may create them when editing the integration `package.json`
files.
PR Close#48329
Adds support for TypeScript 4.8 and resolves some issues that came up as a result of the update.
Most of the issues came from some changes in TypeScript where the `decorators` and `modifiers` properties were removed from most node types, and were combined into a single `modifiers` array. Since we need to continue supporting TS 4.6 and 4.7 until v15, I ended up creating a new `ngtsc/ts_compatibility` directory to make it easier to reuse the new backwards-compatible code.
PR Close#47038
Previously devtools used a nested workspace for its bazel configurations. This meant framework dependencies were consumed via npm.
Now devtools is part of the root bazel directory that all other files in this codebase fall under. This allows us to build devtools using local angular packages, removing the need to consume these dependencies with npn. This is useful because we no longer have to update these dependencies with an automated tool like renovate, and our CI tests will always run against the most up to date framework packages.
Sets up the Bazel integration test with the new integration rule. This
commit is separate from the other changes because it required some
additional work. i.e.
The test has moved from `integration/bazel` to `integration/<..>/bazel`
where `<..>` is a new Bazel package defining the integration test.
This is necessary because we could not declare the integration test
within the `BUILD.bazel` file actually being part of the nested bazel
workspace. In those cases we can just define it at a higher-level and
use integration test `working_dir` attribute.
PR Close#44238
This commit deletes the integration test for `@angular/language-service`
as a plugin to the standard tsserver.
In version 12, Ivy LS will replace legacy View Engine LS as the default,
and Ivy LS plugin cannot be loaded via `tsconfig.json` due to the need to
run ngcc. This makes the test irrelevant.
PR Close#41740
This commit adds an integration test that uses `@angular/elements` with
`@angular/platform-server` in order to highlight a current
incompatibility. The issue will be fixed in a subsequent commit.
PR Close#40559
Move bazel-in-bazel them to test job & increase it is 2xlarge+. test_integration_bazel is removed. Overall CI credit usage is reduced.
test: include ng_elements_schematics in legacy integration tests temporarily
This test was recently added and use a new pattern that doesn't work with npm_integration_test out of the box. It needs some refactoring to work. Left a TODO for this
PR Close#33927
* it's tricky to get out of the runfiles tree with `bazel test` as `BUILD_WORKSPACE_DIRECTORY` is not set but I employed a trick to read the `DO_NOT_BUILD_HERE` file that is one level up from `execroot` and that contains the workspace directory. This is experimental and if `bazel test //:test.debug` fails than `bazel run` is still guaranteed to work as `BUILD_WORKSPACE_DIRECTORY` will be set in that context
* test //integration:bazel_test and //integration:bazel-schematics_test exclusively
* run "exclusive" and "manual" bazel-in-bazel integration tests in their own CI job as they take 8m+ to execute
```
//integration:bazel-schematics_test PASSED in 317.2s
//integration:bazel_test PASSED in 167.8s
```
* Skip all integration tests that are now handled by angular_integration_test except the tests that are tracked for payload size; these are:
- cli-hello-world*
- hello_world__closure
* add & pin @babel deps as newer versions of babel break //packages/localize/src/tools/test:test
@babel/core dep had to be pinned to 7.6.4 or else //packages/localize/src/tools/test:test failed. Also //packages/localize uses @babel/generator, @babel/template, @babel/traverse & @babel/types so these deps were added to package.json as they were not being hoisted anymore from @babel/core transitive.
NB: integration/hello_world__systemjs_umd test must run with systemjs 0.20.0
NB: systemjs must be at 0.18.10 for legacy saucelabs job to pass
NB: With Bazel 2.0, the glob for the files to test `"integration/bazel/**"` is empty if integation/bazel is in .bazelignore. This glob worked under these conditions with 1.1.0. I did not bother testing with 1.2.x as not having integration/bazel in .bazelignore is correct.
