Paul Gschwendtner d88ac6db12 WIP: Revert initial type-checking approach and completion adjustments
We will attempt a new solution that is not as invasive- and integrates
better with the constraints of the language service.

Paul Gschwendtner 46efe02e48 WIP: fixing tests and completion with signal based type checking
NOTE: This is very experimental and manual type check block code is not
updated. All of this complexity arises from the fact of attempting to
support bindings where they go to the same directive with multiple
inputs of the same name.

Potentially we can deprecate this behavior for input signal based
components and avoid this complexity. Alternative solution is to simply
repeat expression diagnostics if a binding goes to two same fields.

Paul Gschwendtner 13f10de40e test: update code fixes spec to work with esm-cjs interop lint (#48731)
The TSLint rule for ESM/CJS interop was apparently not working
for a short period of time due to diverging TypeScript versions.

This commit fixes the lint warning to replace the type-only
import with a default import. Even thoughn not striclty needed
for types- the rule enforces a default import as that is the safer
approach for runtime imported symbols.

Also the rule is updated to not disallow `cluster` anymore. The
types for cluster do no allow for e.g. `cluster.Worker` if cluster
refers to the default import. The whole lint rule is not strictly
needed anymore since we build & test with ESM in this repo now!

Dylan Hunn 4ae384fd61 feat(language-service): Allow auto-imports of a pipe via quick fix when its selector is used, both directly and via reexports. (#48354)

Dylan Hunn 2a4c5b4391 refactor(language-service): Improve the quick fix auto-import tests. (#48354)
Currently, the auto-import tests are very difficult to debug, because the `expect`ations are buried several function calls deep, and also because the multi-line replacements are hard to deal with. The auto-import tests now use a different approach, which can be easily debugged from the failure message. In addition, several new tests have been added to cover more cases.

Paul Gschwendtner acf98268f8 refactor: update language-service package and tests to work with ESM (#48521)
The Angular Language Service package is now tested & compiled using ESM.
Previously it was a mismatch of CommonJS and ESM.

Still the language-service ESM output is transformed into a single UMD
bundle to allow for module resolution to be overriden. See
`bundles/BUILD`.

This is kept as is. To fully ship ESM (language-service is an exception
here), we need to:

 * Update all code to no longer reference typescript via import. Instead
   typescript needs to be passed around so that the extension can
   control the version
 * The VSCode extension/ the TS server needs to be able to load ESM. It
   looks like the server supports ESM global plugins, but the extension
   might not yet.

This is out of scope for the dev-infra effort as it requires more
insight into VSCode & the extension system & the TS language server.

ivanwonder 598b72bd05 feat(language-service): support fix the component missing member (#46764)
The diagnostic of the component missing member comes from the ts service,
so the all code fixes for it are delegated to the ts service.

The code fixes are placed in the LS package because only LS can benefit from
it now, and The LS knows how to provide code fixes by the diagnostic and NgCompiler.

The class `CodeFixes` is useful to extend the code fixes if LS needs to
provide more code fixes for the template in the future. The ts service uses
the same way to provide code fixes.

Adds support for TypeScript 4.7. Changes include:
* Bumping the TS version as well as some Bazel dependencies to include https://github.com/bazelbuild/rules_nodejs/pull/3420.
* Adding a backwards-compatibility layer for calls to `updateTypeParameterDeclaration`.
* Making `LView` generic in order to make it easier to type the context based on the usage. Currently the context can be 4 different types which coupled with stricter type checking would required a lot of extra casting all over `core`.
* Fixing a bunch of miscellaneous type errors.
* Removing assertions of `ReferenceEntry.isDefinition` in a few of the language service tests. The field isn't returned by TS anymore and we weren't using it for anything.
* Resolving in error in the language service that was caused by TS attempting to parse HTML files when we try to open them. Previous TS was silently setting them as `ScriptKind.Unknown` and ignoring the errors, but now it throws. I've worked around it by setting them as `ScriptKind.JSX`.

ivanwonder f57e46c538 fix(language-service): two-way binding completion should not remove the trailing quote (#45582)
We allow the path to contain both the `t.BoundAttribute` and `t.BoundEvent` for two-way
bindings but do not want the path to contain both the `t.BoundAttribute` with its
children when the position is in the value span because we would then logically create a path
that also contains the `PropertyWrite` from the `t.BoundEvent`. This early return condition
ensures we target just `t.BoundAttribute` for this case and exclude `t.BoundEvent` children.

Andrew Scott 3aafa765ee fix(language-service): Correctly parse inputs and selectors with dollar signs (#44268)
When we are going to the definition of an input, we find _both_ the
definition of the input _and_ also look for any directives which have
a selector that matches the input. For example:

```
@Directive({
  selector: '[greeting]'
})
export class MyDir {
  @Input() greeting!: string;
}
```

With this commit, we now correctly handle the case where inputs and/or
selectors have a dollar sign in them. The dollar sign has special
meaning in CSS, but when we encounter the dollar in a template, we need
to escape it when used as a selector so that it is taken as a dollar
literal rather than a character with special meaning.

Previously, we were not escaping the dollar sign and the CSS parsing
logic would throw an error. The change in this commit prevents that
error from happening, but a `try...catch` is still added in case there
is another unhandled use-case. If this happens, we do not want the
`goToDefinition` operation to completely fail.

Paul Gschwendtner b1d6fad5e3 refactor(compiler-cli): do not use __filename or __dirname global for ESM compatibility (#43431)
Switches the compiler-cli usage of `__filename` to `import.meta.url`

Paul Gschwendtner 8d7f1098d8 refactor: make all imports compatible with ESM/CJS output. (#43431)
As outlined in the previous commit which enabled the `esModuleInterop`
TypeScript compiler option, we need to update all namespace imports
for `typescript` to default imports. This is needed to allow for
TypeScript to be imported at runtime from an ES module.

Similar changes are needed for modules like `semver` where the types incorrectly
suggest named exports that will not exist at runtime when imported from ESM.

This commit refactors all imports to match with the lint rule we have
configured in the previous commit. See the previous commit for more
details on why certain imports have been changed.

A special case are the imports to `@babel/core` and `@babel/types`. For
these a special interop is needed as both default imports, or named
imports break the other module format. e.g default imports would work
well for ESM, but it breaks for CJS. For CJS, the named imports would
only work, but in ESM, only the default export exist. We work around
this for now until the devmode is using ESM as well (which would be
consistent with prodmode and gives us more valuable test results). More
details on the interop can be found in the `babel_core.ts` files (two
interops are needed for both localize/or the compiler-cli).

Paul Gschwendtner c569b69352 build: switch view engine language-service tests to v12.x packages (#43431)
The view engine language-service tests currently rely on the `npm_package` output
that is built locally. They rely on the package output mostly for
compiling test scenarios (with dependencies on e.g. forms), and for
the testing the metadata extraction (testing proper suggestions for VE).

The reliance on these packages becomes problematic with the new Angular
Package Format v13 where no metadata files are shipped. To continue
being able to test View Engine language-service compatibility, we will
use the v12.x framework packages for some of the test scenarios.

Keen Yee Liau e1e1db3c01 fix(language-service): Paths on Windows should be normalized (#40492)
Many `ts.LanguageService` APIs accept a filename, for example
```ts
getQuickInfoAtPosition(fileName: string, position: number)
```
The requirement is that `fileName` is agnostic to the platform (Linux, Mac,
Windows, etc), and is always normalized to TypeScript's internal
`NormalizedPath`.

This is evident from the way these APIs are called from the language server:
```ts
  private onHover(params: lsp.TextDocumentPositionParams) {
    const lsInfo = this.getLSAndScriptInfo(params.textDocument);
    if (lsInfo === undefined) {
      return;
    }
    const {languageService, scriptInfo} = lsInfo;
    const offset = lspPositionToTsPosition(scriptInfo, params.position);
    const info = languageService.getQuickInfoAtPosition(scriptInfo.fileName, offset);
    // ...
  }
```
https://github.com/angular/vscode-ng-language-service/blob/9fca9c66510974c26d5c21b31adb9fa39ac0a38a/server/src/session.ts#L594
Here `scriptInfo.fileName` is always a `ts.server.NormalizedPath`.

However, https://github.com/angular/angular/pull/39917 accidentally leaked
the platform-specific paths, and caused a mismatch between the incoming paths
and the paths stored in the internal data structure `fileToComponent`.

This PR fixes the bug by always normalizing the paths, and updating the
type to reflect the format of the underlying data.

ayazhafiz 3b700985f0 fix(language-service): do not treat file URIs as general URLs (#39917)
In the past, the legacy (VE-based) language service would use a
`UrlResolver` instance to resolve file paths, primarily for compiler
resources like external templates. The problem with this is that the
UrlResolver is designed to resolve URLs in general, and so for a path
like `/a/b/#c`, `#c` is treated as hash/fragment rather than as part
of the path, which can lead to unexpected path resolution (f.x.,
`resolve('a/b/#c/d.ts', './d.html')` would produce `'a/b/d.html'` rather
than the expected `'a/b/#c/d.html'`).

This commit resolves the issue by using Node's `path` module to resolve
file paths directly, which aligns more with how resources are resolved
in the Ivy compiler.

The testing story here is not great, and the API for validating a file
path could be a little bit prettier/robust. However, since the VE-based
language service is going into more of a "maintenance mode" now that
there is a clear path for the Ivy-based LS moving forward, I think it is
okay not to spend too much time here.

Keen Yee Liau 2b84882ab0 fix(language-service): do not return external template that does not exist (#39898)
There is a bug in tsserver that causes it to crash when it tries to create
script info for an external template that does not exist.

I've submitted an upstream PR
https://github.com/microsoft/TypeScript/pull/41737 to fix this, but before
the commit lands in the stable release, we'll have to workaround the issue
in language service.

Alex Rickabaugh 643c96184c refactor(language-service): introduce DisplayParts abstraction for Ivy (#39505)
This commit refactors the QuickInfo abstraction shared between the VE and
Ivy services and used to implement hover tooltips (quick info), which was
extracted from the VE code in commit faa81dc. The new DisplayParts
abstraction is more general and can be used to extract information needed by
various LS functions (e.g. autocompletion).

This commit effectively reverts faa81dc, returning the original code to the
VE implementation as the Ivy code is now diverged.

Andrew Scott 563fb6cdbe feat(language-service): Implement go to definition for style and template urls (#39202)
This commit enables the Ivy Language Service to 'go to definition' of a
templateUrl or styleUrl, which would jump to the template/style file
itself.

Andrew Scott 5bda62c51d refactor(language-service): Return directive defs when input name is part of selector (#39243)
When an input name is part of the directive selector, it would be good to return the directive as well
when performing 'go to definition' or 'go to type definition'. As an example, this would allow
'go to type definition' for ngIf to take the user to the NgIf directive.
'Go to type definition' would otherwise return no results because the
input is a generic type. This would also be the case for all primitive
input types.
