This refactoring expands the QueryList such that we can add onDirty
callback to be invoked when a given query gets marked as dirty during
view insertion / removal. This mechanism is needed for signal-based
queries.
PR Close#54017
The changes Observable (impl: EventEmitter) on the QueryList is initalized
lazy - it is created only if someone calls a geter to get a hand on its
instance. But the destroy method was calling this getter thus creating
a new Observable even if no one subscribed to it.
This commit changes the destroy logic to skip creation of an EventEmitter
if it wasn't initialized.

`RootViewRef<T>` extends `ViewRef<T>` and overrides 3 methods with behavior
that is identical to `ViewRef<T>`. This commit removes `RootViewRef<T>`
because it is not needed.
PR Close#52430
The `ViewRef<T>` interface extends `InternalViewRef` and is already not
part of the public API. There is no need for the extra `InternalViewRef`
interface. This confusing setup is likely leftover from the types
necessary to support both Ivy and ViewEngine.
PR Close#52430
This commit refactors a couple places to improve performance:
* avoid checking parent tree if a current node has "skip hydration" flag
* avoid calling `isInSkipHydrationBlock` if there is no hydration info present
PR Close#52221
Previously, dehydrated views lookup was triggered only when ViewContainerRef was injected. The new control flow logic uses lower level APIs, thus having the code only in the ViewContainerRef is not sufficient.
This commit adds the logic to invoke the process of dehydrated views lookup from the `template` instruction, thus enabling it for new control flow instructions as well.
PR Close#51915
The `Writable` type is usefull when we want overwrite readonly properties and we still want to maintain code navigation/reference. It should be use instead of `any` type assertions for example.
PR Close#49754
This commit updates the runtime implementation of defer blocks to avoid their triggering on the server. This behavior was described in the RFC (https://github.com/angular/angular/discussions/50716, see "Server Side Rendering Behavior" section): only a placeholder is rendered on the server at this moment. This commit also updates the logic to make sure that the placeholder content is hydrated after SSR.
PR Close#51530
This refactoring adds utility functions to add / remove LView from LContainer.
Those utils are preparation for the control flow and defer work.
Existing code was refactored to use the new utility functions and avoid
any code duplication.
PR Close#51191
Exposes the function used to transform an input on `ComponentFactory.inputs` and `ComponentMirror.inputs`. We'll need this to support input transforms in `elements`.
PR Close#50713
This commit updates hydration logic to support a scenario where a view container that was hydrated and later on projected to a component that skips hydration. Currently, such projected content is extracted from the DOM (since a component that skips hydration needs to be re-created), but never added back, since the current logic treats such content as "already inserted".
Closes#50175.
PR Close#50199
This commit adds an LView flag to indicate that a view is a "signal"
view and updates view creation code to correctly set the flag
based on the declaration component metadata.
PR Close#49988
Both the render and update instructions live in the same file and are
only separated via a "render*" vs "refresh*" naming convention. This
commit moves these functions to completely separate files.

To match the behaviour of Array.filter, typeguards can now be used on QueryList.filter to narrow the return type.
Fixes#38446
BREAKING CHANGE: QueryList.filter now supports type guard functions, which will result in type narrowing. Previously if you used type guard functions, it resulted in no changes to the return type. Now the type would be narrowed, which might require updates to the application code that relied on the old behavior.
PR Close#48042
This commit consolidates the `RendererFactory` and `Sanitizer` properties
of `LView` onto a single object, the `LViewEnvironment`. These properties
are both set from DI when the root view is created, and not overridden when
child views are created (but inherited from the parent view).
This is a precursor commit to adding the `EffectManager` into the
`LViewEnvironment`.
PR Close#49641
`entryComponents` have been deprecated since version 9, because with Ivy they weren't necessary. These changes remove any remaining references.
BREAKING CHANGE:
* `entryComponents` has been deleted from the `@NgModule` and `@Component` public APIs. Any usages can be removed since they weren't doing anyting.
* `ANALYZE_FOR_ENTRY_COMPONENTS` injection token has been deleted. Any references can be removed.
PR Close#49484
This adds user friendly error messages outlining exactly where hydration
mismatches occur and what was expected with easy to read stringified
DOM. It also includes a pointer to exactly where the mismatch happened
and lets the user know what was expected.
PR Close#49502
This commit updates the hydration logic to handle situations where DOM nodes might end up
being disconnected from the DOM tree. We serialize ids of those nodes into the hydration
state transfer data and use the information to switch from hydration to the regular "creation
mode" at runtime.
This situation may happen during the content projection, when some nodes don't make it
into one of the content projection slots (for example, when there is no default
<ng-content /> slot in projector component's template).
Note: we leverage the fact that we have this information available in the DOM emulation
layer (in Domino) for now. Longer-term solution should not rely on the DOM emulation and
only use internal data structures and state to compute this information.

This change makes it possible to remove a previously registered destroy
callback - to do so it is enough to call the unregistration function
returned from the onDestroy method call.
PR Close#49493
This commit implements hydration support for view containers, which should make `*ngIf`, `*ngFor` and other structural directive work with hydration.
The logic also respects the `ngSkipHydration` flag and skips hydration in such cases.
PR Close#49382
Previously (at the early days of Ivy) a TNode used to keep an array of TViews, but the logic was changed since that time, but the `tViews` field remained on TNode interface (+ corresponding typings).
This commit renames TNode.tViews to TNode.tView and cleans up typings.
PR Close#49313
**Important note**: this is a first commit in a series of commits that will be needed
to support non-destructive hydration. Stay tuned for further updates!
This commit lays the foundation on top of which more hydration logic will be
added in follow up PRs. This PR includes:
* Initial serialization of hydration data
* Data transfer of hydration annotations from server side to client
* Accessing hydration info and populating internal data structures
* Initial APIs (currently private) that enable hydration (in a tree-shakable manner)
* Cleanup of annotations post hydration
* Initial test infrastructure and basic test cases
This commit does **not** expose any public APIs. They'll be exposed later, when
more hydration logic is implemented to a state when it can cover most common
use-cases.

PR Close#49271
DestroyRef represents a concept of lifecycle scope where destroy
callbacks can be registered. Such callbacks are automatically
executed when a given scope ends it lifecycle.
In practice the most common lifecycle scopes would be represented by:
- a component or en embedded view;
- instance of `EnvironnementInjector`.
PR Close#49158
createEmbeddedView method instantiates an embedded view based on this template and take your templateRef as argument and would render the passed templateRef in your ViewContainerRef.

This commit refactors the code to move some functions around to avoid circular dependencies in TS imports. The newly added functions are now located in the `packages/core/src/render3/component.ts` file (instead of `packages/core/src/render3/component_ref.ts`), which is a better place for them anyway.
PR Close#46685
This commit adds the `createNgModuleRef` function alias to the public API. The alias is called `createNgModule`. The `createNgModule` name is more consistent with the rest of the API surface, where functions that return `*Ref`s don't include the `Ref` into the function name, for example: `createPlatform`, `ViewContainerRef.createComponent`, etc.
DEPRECATED:
The `createNgModuleRef` is deprecated in favor of newly added `createNgModule` one.
PR Close#46789
This change adds the setInput method to the ComponentRef.
Previously users had to call `componentRef.instance['inputName']`
to change inputs of a dynamically created component. This had
several problems:
* OnPush components were not marked for check and thus very
difficult to test;
* input aliasing was not take into account - a property name
on a component could have been different from the actual input
name so setting input properties was fragile;
* manually setting input propertie would NOT trigger the
`NgOnChanges` lifecycle hook.
This modifications unifies `@Input` accross dynamically created
components and the ones referenced in templates. This also opens
doors to other changes: as an example router could use this new
method to set `@Input`s from router params.

PR Close#46641
This commit exposes a new `EnvironmentInjector` abstraction, which
generalizes the "module injector" concept to injectors that are not based on
NgModules.
An EnvironmentInjector is a conceptual analogue of an `NgModuleRef` - it
represents an injector on the former "module" DI hierarchy in Angular (now
renamed to the "environment injector hierarchy"). Environment injectors are
created via the `createEnvironmentInjector` function from a list of
`Provider`s.
For backwards compatibility with current code using `NgModuleRef`,
`EnvironmentInjector`s are wrapped by an adapter `NgModuleRef`
implementation, so injecting `NgModuleRef` always returns the latest
`EnvironmentInjector`, even if that injector was not based on an NgModule.
Conversely, NgModule-based `NgModuleRef`s created via `createNgModuleRef`
are _also_ `EnvironmentInjector`s.
PR Close#45626
Angular contains an NgModule registry, which allows a user to declare
NgModules with string ids and retrieve them via those ids, using the
`getNgModuleById` API.
Previously, we attempted to structure this registration in a clever fashion
to allow for tree-shaking of registered NgModules (that is, those with ids).
This sort of worked due to the accidental alignment of behaviors from the
different tree-shakers involved. However, this trick relies on the
generation of `.ngfactory` files and how they're specifically processed in
various bundling scenarios. We intend to remove `.ngfactory` files, hence
we can no longer rely on them in this way.
The correct solution here is to recognize that `@NgModule({id})` is
inherently declaring a global side-effect, and such classes should not
really be eligible for tree-shaking in the first place. This commit removes
all the old registration machinery, and standardizes on generating a side-
effectful call to `registerNgModuleType` for NgModules that have ids.
There is some risk here that NgModules with unnecessary `id`s may not
tree-shake as a result of this change, whereas they would have in previous
circumstances. The fix here should be to remove the `id` if it's not needed.
Specifying an `id` is a request that the NgModule be retained regardless of
any other references, in case it is later looked up by string id.

Adds support for passing in an optional injector when creating an embedded view through `ViewContainerRef.createEmbeddedView` and `TemplateRef.createEmbeddedView`. The injector allows for the DI behavior to be customized within the specific template.
This is a second stab at the changes in #44666. The difference this time is that the new injector acts as a node injector, rather than a module injector.

PR Close#45102
Before Ivy, it was only possible to call the `ViewContainerRef.createComponent` function with the ComponentFactory as the first argument. An instance of a `ComponentFactory` resolved via `ComponentFactoryResolver` contained a reference to an `NgModule` where the component is declared. As a result, the component maintained a DI connection with the module injector tree (by retrieving an instance of `NgModuleRef` internally), even when the custom injector was provided (we try to find a token in a custom injector first and consult module injector after that).
With Ivy, we expanded the `ViewContainerRef.createComponent` function API to support direct references to the Component classes without going through the factory resolution step. As a result, there was no connection to the NgModule that declares the component. Thus, if you provide a custom injector, this is the only injector that is taken into account.
This commit updates the logic for the factory-less case to try retrieving an instance of an `NgModuleRef` using the DI tree which `ViewContainerRef` belongs to. The `NgModuleRef` instance is then used to get a hold of a module injector tree. This brings the factory-less and factory-based logic to more consistent state.
