`stableTypeOrdering` was recently enabled in the internal builds. While there aren't any breakages in Angular, these changes enable it so we can catch potential issues earlier.
Type checking of host bindings was added in v20. We're now confident enough in it to enable it by default.
BREAKING CHANGE:
* Previously hidden type issues in host bindings may show up in your builds. Either resolve the type issues or set `"typeCheckHostBindings": false` in the `angularCompilerOptions` section of your tsconfig.

(experimental at this point)
Language service refactoring action that can convert `@Input()`
declarations to signal inputs.
The user can click on an `@Input` property declaration in e.g. the VSCode
extension and ask for the input to be migrated. All references, imports and
the declaration are updated automatically.

This commit updates the router integration tests to cover both the
classic History and the new Navigation API. There is more work to be
done here, but this commit works to prove the efficacy of the
`FakeNavigation` implementation.
PR Close#53799
Currently internally Angular has some customized tsconfig files, because we don't align with the tsconfig of the rest of g3. These changes enable `noImplicitReturns` and `noPropertyAccessFromIndexSignature` to align better with the internal config.
PR Close#51728
non-destructive hydration expects the DOM tree to have the same structure in both places.
With this commit, the app will throw an error if comments are stripped out by the http server (eg by some CDNs).

The options to generate NgFactory and NgSummary files were added to Ivy for backwards compatibility with ViewEngine. Since ViewEngine was deprecated and removed, the NgFactory and NgSummary files are no longer used as well.
This commit drops obsolete options to generate NgFactory and NgSummary files. Also, the logic that generates those files is also removed.
PR Close#48268
The `packages/core/test` test code was relying on non-ESM
compatible features like untyped `require` calls.
We switch these to ESM `import` statements/expressions and
make it strongly typed. It's a trade-off between type-safety
and the dependency graph- but it feels more reasonable typing
this properly to actually benefit from the type system provided
by using TypeScript.
Additionally, we align the IDE tsconfigs to use `esnext` as module
because that is what we use in Bazel and it allows us to use
top-level await.
PR Close#48521
No longer maintains a separate tsconfig for the Bazel package. This
seems to be a legacy artifact back when ngc-wrapped was put into GitHub.
We now use the canonical repository Bazel tsconfig. This commit also
fixes all strictness-related errors and makes ngc-wrapped compatible.
PR Close#47893
To make our test output i.e. devmode output more aligned
with what we produce in the NPM packages, or to be more
aligned with what Angular applications will usually consume,
the devmode output is switched from ES5 to ES2015.
Additionally various tsconfigs (outside of Bazel) have been
updated to match with the other parts of the build. The rules
are:
ES2015 for test configurations, ES2020 for actual code that will
end up being shipped (this includes the IDE-only tsconfigs).
PR Close#44505
This commit removes ViewEngine-specific code from the langauge service
package. This code is no longer used since VE is not supported in v13+.
PR Close#44064
Enables the `esModuleInterop` for all TypeScript compilations in the
project. This allows us to emit proper ESM-compatible code. e.g.
consider the following import:
```ts
import * as ts from 'typescript';
```
This import currently will break at runtime in NodeJS because the
`typescript` package is not shipping ESM. It's still a CommonJS module.
ES modules are able to import from `typescript` though, using an import
statement as above, but everything in `module.exports` is being exposed
as the `default` named export. TypeScript at runtime does not have any
other named exports, so for actual ESM compatibility, all of our imports
need to be switched to:
```
import ts from 'typescript';
```
The `esModuleInterop` option allows this to work even though the
`d.ts` file of TS currently suggests that there are _only_ named exports.
The TypeScript language service will now suggest the correct import form as
shown above. It doesn't enforce that unfortunately, but this commit also
adds a lint rule that enforces certain patterns so that we emit imports
that are compatible with both ESM and CJS output (CJS still needed here
since tests run with CJS devmode output still; this is a future project
to switch that over to ESM!)

Updates the primary tsconfig files to use ES2020 as target and module.
This helps IDEs and reflects what we generate in production, allowing
the use of JS features that are natively supported in APF v13.

Adds support for TypeScript 4.4. High-level overview of the changes made in this PR:
* Bumps the various packages to `typescript@4.4.2` and `tslib@2.3.0`.
* The `useUnknownInCatchVariables` compiler option has been disabled so that we don't have to cast error objects explicitly everywhere.
* TS now passes in a third argument to the `__spreadArray` call inside child class constructors. I had to update a couple of places in the runtime and ngcc to be able to pick up the calls correctly.
* TS now generates code like `(0, foo)(arg1, arg2)` for imported function calls. I had to update a few of our tests to account for it. See https://github.com/microsoft/TypeScript/pull/44624.
* Our `ngtsc` test setup calls the private `matchFiles` function from TS. I had to update our usage, because a new parameter was added.
* There was one place where we were setting the readonly `hasTrailingComma` property. I updated the usage to pass in the value when constructing the object instead.
* Some browser types were updated which meant that I had to resolve some trivial type errors.
* The downlevel decorators tranform was running into an issue where the Closure synthetic comments were being emitted twice. I've worked around it by recreating the class declaration node instead of cloning it.
PR Close#43281
The legacy-unit-tests-saucelabs job does not need to compile the
compiler compliance tests as they are not used in those tests. Since
the compliance tests can be configured to use specific compiler options,
the generic tsconfig that is used in legacy-unit-tests-saucelabs may not
succeed to compile the compliance tests so this commit excludes those
source files.

PR Close#36434
The `packages/localize/src/tools` folder was excluded
from the top level `tsconfig.json` which meant that in IDEs
these source files were not being given the correct configuration.
It was originally excluded because it required the native `node` typings
but this is no longer a requirement.
Removing this folder from the exclusion list exposed a new issue
where there was a typings mismatch between `@babel/...` sources
and the associated `@types/babel__...` typings packages.
A clean up of the package.json and yarn.lock appears to fix this.
PR Close#35711
This allows us to update the version of the package in a single place for all tests.

PR Close#34002
Language service uses a canonical "Tour of Heroes" project to test
various features, but the files are all contained in test_data.ts which
is hard to read and often contains errors that are difficult to catch
without proper IDE syntax highlighting. The directory structure is also
not clear from first glance.
This PR refactors the test project into standalone files in the proper
format.

Fixes all TypeScript failures caused by enabling the `--strict`
flag for test source files. We also want to enable the strict
options for tests as the strictness enforcement improves the
overall codehealth, unveiled common issues and additionally it
allows us to enable `strict` in the `tsconfig.json` that is picked
up by IDE's.
PR Close#30993
Previously, ngcc had to walk the entire `node_modules` tree looking for
entry-points, even if it only needed to process a single target entry-point
and its dependencies.
This added up to a few seconds to each execution of ngcc, which is noticeable
when being run via the CLI integration.
Now, if an entry-point target is provided, only that target and its entry-points
are considered rather than the whole folder tree.

With 6215799055 we introduced schematics
for `core`, but due to the fact the Saucelabs legacy job does not run
for PRs, we didn't realize that the legacy Saucelabs job ends up
running the schematic specs.
We don't want to run these schematic tests in the legacy-saucelabs job,
as these are node-only specs and the non-Bazel Karma setup is not set
up to provide the devkit schematic node modules.
We exclude the schematics folder in the `core` package in the
legacy-build tsconfig file (similar to how it is done for elements)
PR Close#29124
* No longer builds the example e2e tests using "tsc". The examples are now built with Bazel and can therefore be built with Ivy by using the `--define=compile=aot` switch.
* No longer runs the example e2e tests using the protractor CLI. example e2e tests are executed with the Bazel protractor rule and can therefore run incrementally.
NOTE: Unit tests found within the examples are still running within the legacy jobs.
PR Close#28402
Previously, when you attempted to bootstrap a component that had a
router-outlet using ngsummaries, it would complain that the component
was not provided by any module even if it was. This commit fixes a
mistake (AFAICT) which caused the lookup of the component in the AOT
summaries to fail.
I believe this change is safe. I've run the affected tests within Google
and there were no breakages caused by this change.
PR Close#24892
With these changes, the types are a little stricter now and also not
compatible with Protractor's jasmine-like syntax. So, we have to also
use `@types/jasminewd2` for e2e tests (but not for non-e2e tests).
I also had to "augment" `@types/jasminewd2`, because the latest
typings from [DefinitelyTyped][1] do not reflect the fact that the
`jasminewd2` version (v2.1.0) currently used by Protractor supports
passing a `done` callback to a spec.

With this commit `ngc` is used instead of `tsc-wrapped` for
collecting metadata and tsickle rewriting and `tsc-wrapped`
is removed from the repository.
`@angular/tsc-wrapped@5` is now deprecated and is no longer
used, updated, or maintained as part as of Angular 5.x.x.
`@angular/tsc-wrapped@4` is still maintained and required by
Angular 4.x.x and will be maintained as long as 4.x.x is in
LTS.
