Paul Gschwendtner 2564b45b47 test: replace fake_core with real @angular/core output (#54650)
This commit replaces `fake_core` with the real `@angular/core`
output. See previous commit for reasons.

Overall, this commit:

* Replaces references of `fake_core`
* Fixes tests that were testing Angular compiler detection that _would_
  already be flagged by type-checking of TS directly. We keep these
  tests for now, and add `@ts-ignore` to verify the Angular checks, in
  case type checking is disabled in user applications- but it's worth
  considering to remove these tests. Follow-up question/non-priority.
* Adds `@ts-ignore` to the tests for `defer` 1P because the property is
  marked as `@internal` and now is (correctly) causing failures in the
  compiler test environment.
* Fixes a couple of tests with typos, wrong properties etc that
  previously weren't detected! A good sign.

Kristiyan Kostadinov 5a969e06b7 build: remove Windows CI check (#52140)
Based on recent discussions, these changes remove the Windows CI check because it has been too flaky for too long. Furthermore, we've concluded that the simulated file system in the compiler tests already catches the same set of bugs as running the tests on a real Windows system.

Jeremy Elbourn 7e82df45c5 feat(compiler): initial skeleton for API doc extraction (#51733)
This commit adds a barebones skeleton for extracting information to be used for extracting info that can be used for API reference generation. Subsequent PRs will expand on this with increasingly real extraction. I started with @alxhub's #51615 and very slightly polished to get to this minimal commit.

Paul Gschwendtner 552ea77854 refactor(compiler-cli): drop tsickle code paths (#50602)
`tsickle` is not used in any code paths in 3P and we can remove
this complexity. The `tsickle` npm package has not been released
in a while and we are risking breakages with e.g. future TypeScript
versions.

Note that the `ng_module` rule was updated to not emit through
tsickle at all. The tsickle in 1P is done directly by `tsc_wrapped`
and our code path in `compiler-cli` is not needed at all.

Paul Gschwendtner c9415e4d75 build: ensure bootstrap transitive runfiles are made available (#48521)
Since we generate a `.mjs` file as entry-point for jasmine tests,
a couple of issues prevented the transitive dependencies from
bootstrap targets to be brought in (causing resolution errors):

1. The `_files` (previously `_esm2015`) targets are no longer needed,
   and they also miss all the information on runfiles.
2. The aspect for computing linker mappings does not respect the
   `bootstrap` attribute from the `spec_entrypoint` so we manually
   add the extract ESM output targets (this rule works with the aspect
   and forwards linker mappings).

Paul Gschwendtner 20551503fa build: replace _es2015 shorthand with more flexible _files suffix (#48521)
For every `ts_library` target we expose a shorthand that grants
access to the JS files because `DefaultInfo` of a ts library
only exposes the `.d.ts` files.

We rename this away from `es2015` since in practice it's a much
higher target these days. Additionally we no longer use the devmode
output but rather use the prodmode output which has the explicit
`.mjs` output- compatible with ESM.

Doug Parker 83e6db4081 refactor(compiler-cli): add validation to extended template diagnostics configuration (#44391)
Refs #42966.

This validates the `tsconfig.json` options for extended template diagnostics. It verifies:
* `strictTemplates` must be enabled if `extendedDiagnostics` have any explicit configuration.
* `extendedDiagnostics.defaultCategory` must be a valid `DiagnosticCategoryLabel`.
* `extendedDiagnostics.checks` keys must all be real diagnostics.
* `extendedDiagnostics.checks` values must all be valid `DiagnosticCategoryLabel`s.

These include new error codes, each of which prints out the exact property that was the issue and what the available options are to fix them.

It does disallow the config:

```json
{
  "angularCompilerOptions": {
    "strictTemplates": false,
    "extendedDiagnostics": {
      "defaultCategory": "suppress"
    }
  }
}
```

Such a configuration is technically valid and could be executed, but will be rejected by this verification logic. There isn't much reason to ever do this, since users could just drop `extendedDiagnostics` altogether and get the intended effect. This is unlikely to be a significant issue for users, so it is considered invalid for now to keep the implementation simple.

Paul Gschwendtner c46d533b22 build: switch devmode output to es2015 (#44505)
To make our test output i.e. devmode output more aligned
with what we produce in the NPM packages, or to be more
aligned with what Angular applications will usually consume,
the devmode output is switched from ES5 to ES2015.

Additionally various tsconfigs (outside of Bazel) have been
updated to match with the other parts of the build. The rules
are:

ES2015 for test configurations, ES2020 for actual code that will
end up being shipped (this includes the IDE-only tsconfigs).

Paul Gschwendtner b46b3cf43e refactor: remove remaining dynamic require usages in package output (#43431)
Removes the remaining usages of dynamic require statements in the
package output. Since we declare all shipped packages as strict ESM,
we cannot use dynamic require statements anymore. This commit switches
these usages to actual `import` statements.

Note: Tsickle continues to remain an optional dependency since bundling
does not work with its UMD package output. Also tsickle is rarely used by
consumers, if at all, so bundling does not really provide any significant
value. To continue keeping tsickle optional (since it's still needed by the
`annotateForClosureCompiler` option which is also respected in ngtsc), we
pass-through a tsickle instance as a parameter to `main`. This allows us to
keep the compile functions synchronous without having to refactor the majority
of the watch compilation code, and majority of tests for ngc, ngtsc.

Consumers (like the `ngc` bin entry-point) can then load tsickle based on their
module format. e.g. tsickle can be imported through `require` to keep everything
sync, but in ESM, the dynamic import can be used beforehand to pass `tsickle` to
the `main` function. We can revisit this in the future but for now this does the
trick without exceeding the scope of this commit..

JoostK 94c6dee708 refactor(compiler-cli): remove listLazyRoutes operation (#43591)
Now that `Route.loadChildren` no longer accepts a string, there is no
need for tooling to find all string-based `loadChildren` to setup lazy
imports for them. As a result, the `listLazyRoutes` operation that
enumerates all string-based `loadChildren` occurrences is no longer
needed and is therefore removed from the compiler.

The `listLazyRoutes` API remains on the `Program` interface to avoid
breaking external tools that may be using this method, but those tools
should ultimately move away from using this API.

Alex Rickabaugh 3613e7c4e5 test(compiler-cli): move testing utils to separate package (#39594)
ngtsc has a robust suite of testing utilities, designed for in-memory
testing of a TypeScript compiler. Previously these utilities lived in the
`test` directory for the compiler-cli package.

This commit moves those utilities to an `ngtsc/testing` package, enabling
them to be depended on separately and opening the door for using them from
the upcoming language server testing infrastructure.

As part of this refactoring, the `fake_core` package (a lightweight API
replacement for @angular/core) is expanded to include functionality needed
for Language Service test use cases.

Pete Bacon Darwin 0accd1e68d refactor(compiler-cli): implement DeclarationNode node type (#38959)
Previously the `ConcreteDeclaration` and `InlineDeclaration` had
different properties for the underlying node type. And the `InlineDeclaration`
did not store a value that represented its declaration.

It turns out that a natural declaration node for an inline type is the
expression. For example in UMD/CommonJS this would be the `exports.<name>`
property access node.

So this expression is now used for the `node` of `InlineDeclaration` types
and the `expression` property is dropped.

To support this the codebase has been refactored to use a new `DeclarationNode`
type which is a union of `ts.Declaration|ts.Expression` instead of `ts.Declaration`
throughout.

Alex Rickabaugh 5103d908c8 perf(compiler-cli): fix regressions in incremental program reuse (#37641)
Commit 4213e8d5 introduced shim reference tagging into the compiler, and
changed how the `TypeCheckProgramHost` worked under the hood during the
creation of a template type-checking program. This work enabled a more
incremental flow for template type-checking, but unintentionally introduced
several regressions in performance, caused by poor incrementality during
`ts.Program` creation.

1. The `TypeCheckProgramHost` was made to rely on the `ts.CompilerHost` to
   retrieve instances of `ts.SourceFile`s from the original program. If the
   host does not return the original instance of such files, but instead
   creates new instances, this has two negative effects: it incurs
   additional parsing time, and it interferes with TypeScript's ability to
   reuse information about such files.

2. During the incremental creation of a `ts.Program`, TypeScript compares
   the `referencedFiles` of `ts.SourceFile` instances from the old program
   with those in the new program. If these arrays differ, TypeScript cannot
   fully reuse the old program. The implementation of reference tagging
   introduced in 4213e8d5 restores the original `referencedFiles` array
   after a `ts.Program` is created, which means that future incremental
   operations involving that program will always fail this comparison,
   effectively limiting the incrementality TypeScript can achieve.

Problem 1 exacerbates problem 2: if a new `ts.SourceFile` is created by the
host after shim generation has been disabled, it will have an untagged
`referencedFiles` array even if the original file's `referencedFiles` was
not restored, triggering problem 2 when creating the template type-checking
program.

To fix these issues, `referencedFiles` arrays are now restored on the old
`ts.Program` prior to the creation of a new incremental program. This allows
TypeScript to get the most out of reusing the old program's data.

Additionally, the `TypeCheckProgramHost` now uses the original `ts.Program`
to retrieve original instances of `ts.SourceFile`s where possible,
preventing issues when a host would otherwise return fresh instances.

Together, these fixes ensure that program reuse is as incremental as
possible, and tests have been added to verify this for certain scenarios.

An optimization was further added to prevent the creation of a type-checking
`ts.Program` in the first place if no type-checking is necessary.

Pete Bacon Darwin 7186f9c016 refactor(ivy): implement a virtual file-system layer in ngtsc + ngcc (#30921)
To improve cross platform support, all file access (and path manipulation)
is now done through a well known interface (`FileSystem`).

For testing a number of `MockFileSystem` implementations are provided.
These provide an in-memory file-system which emulates operating systems
like OS/X, Unix and Windows.

The current file system is always available via the static method,
`FileSystem.getFileSystem()`. This is also used by a number of static
methods on `AbsoluteFsPath` and `PathSegment`, to avoid having to pass
`FileSystem` objects around all the time. The result of this is that one
must be careful to ensure that the file-system has been initialized before
using any of these static methods. To prevent this happening accidentally
the current file system always starts out as an instance of `InvalidFileSystem`,
which will throw an error if any of its methods are called.

You can set the current file-system by calling `FileSystem.setFileSystem()`.
During testing you can call the helper function `initMockFileSystem(os)`
which takes a string name of the OS to emulate, and will also monkey-patch
aspects of the TypeScript library to ensure that TS is also using the
current file-system.

Finally there is the `NgtscCompilerHost` to be used for any TypeScript
compilation, which uses a given file-system.

All tests that interact with the file-system should be tested against each
of the mock file-systems. A series of helpers have been provided to support
such tests:

* `runInEachFileSystem()` - wrap your tests in this helper to run all the
wrapped tests in each of the mock file-systems.
* `addTestFilesToFileSystem()` - use this to add files and their contents
to the mock file system for testing.
* `loadTestFilesFromDisk()` - use this to load a mirror image of files on
disk into the in-memory mock file-system.
* `loadFakeCore()` - use this to load a fake version of `@angular/core`
into the mock file-system.

All ngcc and ngtsc source and tests now use this virtual file-system setup.

Alex Rickabaugh c37ec8b255 fix(ivy): produce ts.Diagnostics for NgModule scope errors (#29191)
Previously, when the NgModule scope resolver discovered semantic errors
within a users NgModules, it would throw assertion errors. TODOs in the
codebase indicated these should become ts.Diagnostics eventually.

Besides producing better-looking errors, there is another reason to make
this change asap: these assertions were shadowing actual errors, via an
interesting mechanism:

1) a component would produce a ts.Diagnostic during its analyze() step
2) as a result, it wouldn't register component metadata with the scope
   resolver
3) the NgModule for the component references it in exports, which was
   detected as an invalid export (no metadata registering it as a
   component).
4) the resulting assertion error would crash the compiler, hiding the
   real cause of the problem (an invalid component).

This commit should mitigate this problem by converting scoping errors to
proper ts.Diagnostics. Additionally, we should consider registering some
marker indicating a class is a directive/component/pipe without actually
requiring full metadata to be produced for it, which would allow suppression
of errors like "invalid export" for such invalid types.

Pete Bacon Darwin 08de52b9f0 feat(ivy): add source mappings to compiled Angular templates (#28055)
During analysis, the `ComponentDecoratorHandler` passes the component
template to the `parseTemplate()` function. Previously, there was little or
no information about the original source file, where the template is found,
passed when calling this function.

Now, we correctly compute the URL of the source of the template, both
for external `templateUrl` and in-line `template` cases. Further in the
in-line template case we compute the character range of the template
in its containing source file; *but only in the case that the template is
a simple string literal*. If the template is actually a dynamic value like
an interpolated string or a function call, then we do not try to add the
originating source file information.

The translator that converts Ivy AST nodes to TypeScript now adds these
template specific source mappings, which account for the file where
the template was found, to the templates to support stepping through the
template creation and update code when debugging an Angular application.

Note that some versions of TypeScript have a bug which means they cannot
support external template source-maps. We check for this via the
`canSourceMapExternalTemplates()` helper function and avoid trying to
add template mappings to external templates if not supported.
