`TemplateDefinitionBuilder` is the legacy template compiler, and was replaced by Template Pipeline as the default in v17.3.
This PR attempts to delete `TemplateDefinitionBuilder`, `ExpressionConverter`, and various helpers (i18n context, style builder, property visitors, etc).
Consider this a first pass: a lot of code has not yet been deleted (e.g. old TDB-specific test cases), and I'm sure I have missed additional helper code.

An `EventEmitter` is a construct owned by Angular that should be
used for outputs as of right now.
As we are introducing the new `OutputRef` interface for the new output
function APIs, we also think `EventEmitter` should implement
`OutputRef`— ensuring all "known" outputs follow the same contract.
This commit ensures `EventEmitter` implements an `OutputRef`
Note: An output ref captures the destroy ref from the current injection
context for clean-up purposes. This is also done for `EventEmitter` in a
backwards compatible way:
- not requiring an injection context. EventEmitter may be used
elsewhere.
- not cleaning up subscriptions/completing the emitter when the
directive/component is destroyed. This would be a change in behavior.
Note 2: The dependency on `DestroyRef` causes it to be retained in all
bundling examples because ironically `NgZone` uses `EventEmitter`- not
for outputs. The code is pretty minimal though, so that should be
acceptable.
`EventEmitter` will now always retain `NgZone. This increases the
payload size slightly around 800b for AIO. Note that the other increases
were coming from previous changes. This commit just pushed it over the
threshold.

The `ReflectiveInjector` symbol has been deprecated in v5 (11 major versions ago). This commit removes ReflectiveInjector and related symbols.

When navigating in the Router, the current approach does the redirects
and the creation of the `RouterStateSnapshot` in two separate steps
(applyRedirects and recognize). These two steps duplicate the route
matching logic, resulting in user code on routes being executing twice
(custom `UrlMatcher` and `canMatch` guards). This also duplicates the
complex matching logic in two places, which increases the bundle size
and maintenance burden.
This commit combines the `applyRedirects` and `recognize` steps into a
single matching algorithm.

callbacks can be registered. Such callbacks are automatically
executed when a given scope ends it lifecycle.
In practice the most common lifecycle scopes would be represented by:

This commit extracts the Router's navigation "transitions" to a separate
file. The goal here is twofold:
- Separate the Router's logic into more manageable chunks. Rather than
having to always edit a 1000+ line file, this separates different
pieces into smaller, more focused files
- More importantly, this sets the groundwork for separating the Router
state from the individual navigation transition. That is, it would be
good for the rxjs pipeline to _not_ modify the Router state but only
keep track of its own intermediate stages and emit outwards during
important events. The Router can subscribe to those events and make
updates to its state. This would theoretically allow us to swap those
implementations independently. That is, the Router's state management
can be changed without changing the transition handling and
vice-versa.

The `Observable` chain is currenlty the most straightforward way to
handle navigation cancellations where we ensure that the cancelled
navigation does not continue to be processed. Until we design and
implement an alternative way to accomplish equivalent functionality,
we need to maintain the `Observable` chain wherever we might execute
user code. One reason for this isthat user code may contain redirects so we do not
want to execute those redirects if the navigation was already cancelled.

This exposes a new function from the router public API that allows
developers to create a `UrlTree` from _any_ `ActivatedRouteSnapshot`.
The current Router APIs only support creating a `UrlTree` from an
`ActivatedRoute` which is both active _and_ materially appears in the
`UrlTree` (it cannot be an empty path named outlet). This is because the
implementation of the current way of creating a `UrlTree` attempts to
look up the `UrlSegment` of the `ActivatedRoute` in the currently active
`UrlTree` of the router. When this doesn't work, the `UrlTree` creation
fails.
Note that this API does not replace the current one. That would actually be a
breaking change but should be done at some point in the future (v15). That is,
`router.navigate` should call this new function. At that point, we can
remove `_lastPathIndex`, `_urlSegment`, and `_correctedPathIndex` from
the `ActivatedRoute`, along with all of the logic associated with
determining what those should be. In addition, this would unblock a fix
for #26081 because the `applyRedirects` and `recognize` operations
could be combined into one. Overall, this would simplify logic in the router
and reduce code size. It also exposes core routing capabilities as a helper function
which were previously private API, which is a necessary step towards #42953.
As a stress test for this new function, it _was_ swapped in as the
default for `UrlTree` creation in #45859 and tested internally. The
results indicate that this function behaves correctly.

This commit implements the `StandaloneFeature` which provides for the
creation of standalone injectors, for those components which need them. The
feature-based implementation ensures the machinery for standalone injectors
is properly tree-shakable.

This commit refactors `importProvidersFrom` to support pulling providers
from the dependencies of a standalone component, in addition to NgModules.
Tests will be added in a future commit when standalone components can be
created without calling private APIs.

This commit exposes the `standalone` flag on `@Directive`, `@Component`, and
`@Pipe`, effectively making standalone components a part of Angular's public
API. As part of this operation, it also implements JIT compilation for
standalone types.
Standalone types are Angular-decorated types which act as their own
"declarations", where they would otherwise be declared in an NgModule.
Marking an Angular type as standalone means that it can be used directly in
other standalone components and in NgModules, without needing an associated
NgModule to depend on it. In the case of a standalone component, template
dependencies which would otherwise be specified by an NgModule are instead
specified directly on the component itself, via the `imports` field. Other
standalone types can be imported, as well as NgModules.

This commit extracts the `importProvidersFrom` function and associated
machinery into a separate file, as opposed to being colocated with
`R3Injector`. Separating these functions will mitigate potential future
circular dependencies as `importProvidersFrom` starts being used in
different parts of the codebase.

This commit implements the next step of Angular's "standalone" functionality,
by allowing directives/components/pipes declared as `standalone` to be imported
into NgModules. Errors are raised when such a type is not standalone but is
included in an NgModule's imports.

model.ts is currently extremely large. This is the first step in an attempt to refactor it to be more easily navigable and reviewable. This commit breaks up `model.ts` into the following new files:
* `model/abstract_model.ts`: The remainder of the model, including the `AbstractControl` base class and helper functions which are used throughout.
* `model/form_control.ts`: `FormControl`, `FormControlOptions`, and helpers, plus the constructor and untyped friends.
* `model/form_array.ts`: `FormArray` and untyped friends.
* `model/form_group.ts`: `FormGroup` and untyped friends.
This first phase is a purely mechanical code move. There is no new code at all, and no interfaces have been separated.

This commit does a first-pass removal of the View Engine infrastructure

Now that `Route.loadChildren` no longer accepts a string, there is no
need for tooling to find all string-based `loadChildren` to setup lazy
imports for them. As a result, the `listLazyRoutes` operation that
enumerates all string-based `loadChildren` occurrences is no longer
needed and is therefore removed from the compiler.
The `listLazyRoutes` API remains on the `Program` interface to avoid
breaking external tools that may be using this method, but those tools
should ultimately move away from using this API.

With Ivy it's possible to create a `ComponentFactory` instance based on the generated Component def, thus the `ViewContainerRef.createComponent` can accept a Component instance and create a factory inside, rather than requiring additional complexity of creating a ComponentFactory outside (by invoking `ComponentFactoryResolver`).
This should simplify the API that is used for creating components dynamically.
DEPRECATION:
Angular no longer requires component factories to dynamically create components. The factory-based signature of the `ViewContainerRef.createComponent` function is deprecated in favor of a different signature that allows passing component classes instead.

Two motivations behind this change:
1. We would like to expose the types of the Language Service to external
users (like the VSCode extension) via the npm package, on the top
level of the package
2. We would like the View Engine and Ivy LS to share a common interface
(notably after the inclusion of `getTcb`, the Ivy LS upholds a
strict superset of `ts.LanguageService`; previously both VE and Ivy
LS were aligned on `ts.LanguageService`.)
To this end, this commit refactors the exports on the toplevel of the
`language-service/` package to just be types common to both the VE and
Ivy language services. The VE and Ivy build targets then import and use
these types accordingly, and the expectation is that an external user
will just import the relevant typings from the toplevel package without
diving into either the VE or Ivy sources.

When we attach a `ViewRef` to a `ViewContainerRef`, we save a reference to the container
onto the `ViewRef` so that we can remove it when the ref is destroyed. The problem is
that if the container's `hostView` is destroyed first, the `ViewRef` has no way of knowing
that it should stop referencing the container.
These changes remove the leak by not saving a reference at all. Instead, when a `ViewRef`
is destroyed, we clean it up through the `LContainer` directly. We don't need to worry
about the case where the container is destroyed before the view, because containers
automatically clean up all of their views upon destruction.

ngtsc has a robust suite of testing utilities, designed for in-memory
testing of a TypeScript compiler. Previously these utilities lived in the
`test` directory for the compiler-cli package.
This commit moves those utilities to an `ngtsc/testing` package, enabling
them to be depended on separately and opening the door for using them from
the upcoming language server testing infrastructure.
As part of this refactoring, the `fake_core` package (a lightweight API
replacement for @angular/core) is expanded to include functionality needed
for Language Service test use cases.

`ViewRef` and `ApplicationRef` had a circular reference. This change
introduces `ViewRefTracker` which is a subset of `ApplicationRef` for

JIT needs to identify which type is `ChangeDetectorRef`. It was doing so
by importing `ChangeDetectorRef` and than comparing the types. This creates
circular dependency as well as prevents tree shaking. The new solution is
to brand the class with `__ChangeDetectorRef__` so that it can be identified
without creating circular dependency.
