Alex Rickabaugh bdd61c768a fix(core): replace assertion with more intentional error (#52234)
Issue #50320 shows that in some cases, updating a signal that's a dependency
of a template during change detection of that template can have several
adverse effects. This can happen, for example, if the signal is set during
the lifecycle hook of a directive within the same template that reads the
signal.

This can cause a few things to happen:

* Straightforwardly, it can cause `ExpressionChanged` errors.
* Surprisingly, it can cause an assertion within the `ReactiveLViewConsumer`
  to fail.
* Very surprisingly, it can cause change detection for an `OnPush` component
  to stop working.

The root cause of these later behaviors is subtle, and is ultimately a
desync between the reactive graph and the view tree's notion of "dirty" for
a given view. This will be fixed with further work planned for change
detection to handle such updates directly. Until then, this commit improves
the DX through two changes:

1. The mechanism of "committing" `ReactiveLViewConsumer`s to a view is
   changed to use the `consumerOnSignalRead` hook from the reactive graph.
   This prevents the situation which required the assertion in the first
   place.

2. A `console.warn` warning is added when a view is marked dirty via a
   signal while it's still executing.

The warning informs users that they're pushing data against the direction of
change detection, risking `ExpressionChanged` or other issues. It's a
warning and not an error because the check is overly broad and captures
situations where the application would not actually break as a result, such
as if a `computed` marked the template dirty but still returned the same
value.

Jan Kuehle ebbc7a27e8 refactor: change public const enums to enums (#51670)
Angular recently gained a local compilation mode (see commit
345dd6d81a). This is intended to be used
with the TypeScript compiler option isolatedModules, which bans imports
of const enums.

This changes all const enums tagged with @publicApi to regular enums.

Paul Gschwendtner 7426948ff6 refactor(common): update NgTemplateOutlet to no longer rely on context swapping (#51887)
The context of an embedded view ref at some point was switched from a
getter to an actual assignable property. This is something we reverted
with the previous commit as it introduces additional complexity for our
generated code (in terms of closures capturing the `ctx`).

This change impacted the template outlet code because we actively relied
on swapping out the full context if the user changes it. Previousl,
before we allowed to swap out the context (in v16), we mutated the
initial view context if it didn't change structurally- and in other
cases the view was re-created. We improved this performance aspect with
the changes to allow for the context to be swapped out + actually also
fixed a bug where the initial context object was mutated and the user
could observe this change.

This commit adjusts for context not being replacable- while still
keeping the bugs fixed and preserving the performance wins of not
having to destroy/re-create the view whenever the context changes.

The `main` bundle fell below the threshold. No actual investigation

Andrew Scott 9b65b84cb9 feat(core): Mark components for check if they read a signal (#49153)
This commit updates the `LView` in Angular to be a `Consumer` of
signals. If a signal is read when executing a template, it marks the
view dirty. In addition, if a signal is read when executing host
bindings, it also marks views dirty.

One interesting thing about signal reads in host bindings
is that they perform a bit better than what we can do with today's
APIs. In order to re-execute host bindings for an `OnPush` component that
might have changed, you would probably inject `ChangeDetectorRef` and call
`markForCheck`. This will mark the _current component_ and parents
dirty. However, host bindings are executed as part of refreshing the
_parent_ so there is really no need to re-execute the current component
if the only thing that changed is the host bindings. When a signal is
read in host bindings, it marks the parent dirty and not the component
that defined the host binding.

Additionally, this commit avoids allocating a full consumer for each
`LView` by re-using a consumer until template execution results in a
signal read. At this point, we assign that consumer to the `LView` and
create a new consumer to "tentatively" use for the future `LView`
template executions.

Andrew Scott 4e098fa8a7 refactor(core): move Zone providers to a single provider function (#49373)
This commit moves the providers for `NgZone`-based change detection to a
single provider function. This function is currently called by default
in all places where `NgZone` was provided
(`bootstrapApplication`, `bootstrapModule`, and `TestBed`).

When we want to make Angular applications zoneless by default, we
can make a public provider method that has to be used in order to enable
the zone change detection features. When this method is not called,
Angular would use `NoopNgZone` by default and not initialize any
subscriptions to the `NgZone` stability events.

Side note: There are actually two places that `NgZone` is provided for `TestBed`
(providers in `compileTestModule` and `BrowserTestingModule`). This
likely doesn't need to be in both locations.

Alan Agius 02d5e8d79d fix(platform-browser): remove styles from DOM of destroyed components (#48298)
Currently style of components using `encapsulation`, `None` or `Emulated` will not be removed from the DOM once the component get destroyed.

This change addresses this by keeping track of the number of times a component is rendered, when the component is destroyed the counter is decreased and once this reaches zero the style element is removed from the DOM.

Currently, this new behaviour is on opt-in bases, but it will be changed in the next major version.

To opt-in, set the `REMOVE_STYLES_ON_COMPONENT_DESTROY` DI token to `true`.

Example
```ts
@NgModule({
 declarations: [
   AppComponent,
 ],
 imports: [
   BrowserModule
 ],
 providers: [
   { provide: REMOVE_STYLES_ON_COMPONENT_DESTROY, useValue: true }
 ],
Paul Gschwendtner 9130635eac test: update size golden to reflect Angular cross dependency updates (#48747)
The `main` bundle size has increased, as well as the CSS styles from
Angular Material. Only the `main` bundle exceeded the golden, but
we update all other entries to make future updates easier and to prevent
gradually getting closer and closer to the threshold.
Investigating/comparing the `main` bundles before and after the update
did not unveil any significant changes, except for thousands of
different identifiers, with different length due to mangling. That
seems to be the only reason for having exceeded the threshold.
Very likely there were more size-affecting changes over time. Also
for example the downleveling of class fields for Safari v15 support.
Andrew Kushnir 2d08965b1a fix(core): hardening rules related to the attribute order on iframe elements (#47935)
This commit updates the logic related to the attribute order on iframes and makes the rules more strict. There is a set of iframe attributes that may affect the behavior of an iframe, this change enforces that these attributes are applied before an `src` or `srcdoc` attributes are applied to an iframe, so that they are taken into account.
If Angular detects that some of the attributes are set after the `src` or `srcdoc`, it throws an error message, which contains the name of ann attribute that is causing the problem and the name of a Component where an iframe is located. In most cases, it should be enough to change the order of attributes in a template to move the `src` or `srcdoc` ones to the very end.
BREAKING CHANGE:
Existing iframe usages may have `src` or `srcdoc` preceding other attributes. Such usages may need to be updated to ensure compliance with the new stricter rules around iframe bindings.
Kristiyan Kostadinov 06ca0dcf27 refactor(core): remove assumptions that component will be first in directives list (#47490)
`TNode`s have the `directiveStart` and `directiveEnd` properties that indicate the indexes at which directive instances (including components) have been stored. Currently there are several places throughout the codebase which assume that if a component matches a node, its index will always be `directiveStart`.
As far as I can tell, we probably ended up accumulating these assumptions, because we needed a quick way of accessing the component instance and it happened to be conventiently stored at `directiveStart`. The reason why it's always stored at `directiveStart` is likely to match the lifecycle hook execution order from ViewEngine.
With host directives these assumptions won't be valid anymore, because we want the host directives to _always_ execute before the host component that they're on so that the host has a chance to override them. To achieve this we have to insert host directives before the component.
These changes address the issue by introducing a new `TNode.componentOffset` property which indicates the offset after `TNode.directiveStart` at which the component is stored. Furthermore, I've removed the `isComponentHost` flag since it was duplicating the information from `TNode.componentOffset` and I've audited and fixed all the places where we read `directiveStart` to account for the changed data structure.
Reasons for some of the decisions I made along the way:
* In the case of host directives, I decided to go against our current convention of executing the component lifecycle hooks before the directive, because lifeycle hooks are a chance to change the component state (e.g. in `ngOnChanges`) and running the component hooks first would allow the host directives to undo any overrides made by the host.
* I decided to go with a `componentOffset`, instead of a `componentIndex` indicating the exact index the component is at, because as the runtime is set up at the moment, it would be difficult to know what index the component is going to end up at. Another problem is that we appear to have some logic that moves the entire "directive window" by incrementing both `directiveStart` and `directiveEnd`. By using an offset, we don't have to worry about the index remaining correct.
George Kalpakas f386cdb499 refactor(docs-infra): remove code that prints debug info (#46987)
In #41106, code was added in angular.io to print info that would help us
investigate and debug a ServiceWorker issue (#28114). Since the fix for
the issue was deployed on October 6th, 2021, the related error rate has
dropped dramatically:
![ChunkLoadError rate](https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/8604205/181502119-64ffb5de-f38e-4414-abcd-0fada29fd6d5.png)
Additionally, there have been no known occurrences or reports of the
issue in the last several months.
The remaining occurrences could be attributed to older versions still
being around on people's devices (due to the ServiceWorker caching) and
other circumstances not related to the ServiceWorker, for which there is
not much we can do. For example, a user could keep a tab open with an
older version of the app, which requests hashed files that no longer
exist on the server. If the ServiceWorker is not activated on such a tab
(either because the browser does not support it or because the user has
disabled it, for example), then it is expected that these requests would
fail.
This commit removes the code that prints ServiceWorker-related debug
info to reduce the payload size of the app.
doesn't match the intended behavior. For example, `keydown.alt.s`
This change adds support to allow users to specify they want to look at
the `code` field instead of the `key` field within their event string.
Example: `keydown.code.alt.leftshift` would only match the LeftShift and
not the right shift based on code values. It would also allow the user
to specify `keydown.code.alt.keys` to match S instead of ß when alt /
option is pressed on MacOS and would also work on Windows.
Paul Gschwendtner d352a87f69 test: update aio size golden to reflect reduction due to lock file maintenance (#46819)
The AIO payload size has been reduced with lock file maintenance which
resulted in updates of Angular framework and Angular devkit/CLI.
The same reduction is already visible in the `aio-local` job because
it was already using the latest FW packages (obviously -- given it being
from HEAD).
Paul Gschwendtner 5ba7503603 test: update payload size goldens for AIO after analytics change (#46716)
Most of the increase comes from code being moved from `index.html`
to the main bundle. A small increase comes from the additional `gtag.js`
loading logic, but other than that the size is effectively increased
due to the untracked code from `index.html` being moved into the
`main.js` bundle.
JiaLiPassion 19e6d9ccd3 feat(core): import AsyncStackTaggingZone if available (#46693)
Import `AsyncStackTaggingZoneSpec` if the user imported
`zone.js/plugins/async-stack-tagging` bundle. So the user can
use `console.trace` to output the `async task` information more
clearly.
Paul Gschwendtner 304b172dab test: increase payload golden for AIO and AIO-local (#46642)
The payload size has increased for AIO because we updated to the latest
Angular Framework, CLI and CDK/Material.
After size investigation, the size increase comes from the CDK update
where we now bring in the breakpoint observer class/logic into the
main bundle (it previously was part of a non-measured lazy chunk).
We now use the break point observer to detect high-contrast so it
ends up being loaded as part of the main bundle.
Alex Rickabaugh 1434ba904d refactor(core): remove experimental Renderer3 abstraction (#46605)
This commit removes the `Renderer3` experiment which attempted to use the
real DOM API as Angular's renderer. As shown in the diff, having this
experiment around added real code complexity to Angular that could not be
removed by an optimizer.
Since we no longer feel this experiment is worth continuing, we're removing
the `Renderer3` concept and all supporting code.
Andrew Kushnir 326ade8767 ci: update AIO payload size (#46523)
This commit increases the AIO payload size (related to styles). The increase is likely organic and the most recent commit (https://github.com/angular/angular/commit/f659dc8e532f17c9ac36420db7b75b4986b7b59a) just added a few extra bytes that pushed the size over the threshold, so there are no extra action items other than updating the golden file.
