These changes include
- Remove the usage of `enableProdMode`
- Remove `test.ts`, `polyfills.ts`, `karma.conf.js` and environment files which are no longer generated by default

.substr() is deprecated so we replace it with functions which work similarily but aren't deprecated

Most of these were fixed in other PRs but there were are couple of stragglers.
Note that `my-app` components in non-documentation facing code, such as
compliance tests have not been changed.
